The other thing I would do is specially on first-time mommas is bring them up. you can keep track or at least have an idea of when they're getting close and bring them into a smaller closer area or monitor them with a camera and you can prevent a lot of being worried too easily nowadays with technology LOL even with the Drone you can just fly over and see if they're taking too long

I was wondering if the vets have something like pitocin that can cause her to go into labor and have contractions and be able to deliver whatever else is left.

Not saying that other ranchers aren't as dedicated to their animals as Dusty, just that some aren't as dedicated to the animals as they are to the money and status, unfortunately. Hope this clarifies my perspective.

Then, I am overjoyed to see her on her feet, very much alive. I have a good feeling that she will make a full recovery. I know there were many, many prayers for a miracle. To bring a new life into this world, takes a lot of love, and and suffering and sacrifice, pain, and commotion, Joy and sometimes sorrow and loss. I laid awake and remembered when I was full term with my first child, and my cat was aslo full term .We would have a baby and kittens in our home at the same time. Oh, the joy! . My cat disappeared for 2days, and my husband searched for her, she had found a spot in the basement and was in labor. he took her to the vet, and i got the call, he couldn’t save her, kittens stillborn and she died. I begged my husband , please do not let that happen to me!! My son arrived safely and he gave me 4 grandchildren. i dream about when the great grandchildren will come. And dream about many more little red dogs for Dusty in the years to come, and one of them a special reward from Miss Texas. ❤ Dusty, you are a shining example of a good shepherd, you gave everything you had to save just one..

I'm guessing that your cousin lives in Texas or one of the several other states that have recently (in the past year courtesy of the Supreme Court deciding that Roe vs Wade decision wasn't a right for women to continue to have when it comes to their healthcare, cause let's be honest, Republicans don't care about women or people in general unless it's a relative of their own) passed laws that outlawed care for abortions or even miscarriages (the bodies natural abortion reaction when it determines that the body of the mother or genetics of the baby-> fetus isn't suitable for life of the mother or baby)......(?)
Hopefully, your cousin's body (uterus) was able to pass EVERYTHING (all of baby's body parts, amniotic sac and placenta) and nothing was retained as she could still be at risk of infection or worse (as I'm assuming that this was a wanted pregnancy/child) potential for causing infertility (inability to carry another pregnancy to term safely or even be able to get pregnant again) or even cause death to your cousin herself.

This is why you have to vote blue leaving the baby to rot could cause death or so much damage she could never be able to carry to term it so sad on so many levels. I have been a nurse 30 years and the fact that parts of the countries infant /maternal deaths have spiked to numbers from the 60's! Politicians should not be allowed to decide what happens ya know doctors go to school 8 to 10 years for a reason. Yet you have Politicians saying can't a woman swallow a camera to look in the uterus, it's almost like they never had sex with a woman or never had 6th grade basic anatomy

      @Leslie_ann_h Год назад

@@AnnJo24224 carrying a deceased fetus is DANGEROUS if the mother's body doesn't expell it or doctors don't act in a timely fashion/manner to remove something that is starting the decomposition process the minute the heart stops beating. Even more importantly, if the mother's body (uterus) doesn't expell everything associated with the pregnancy (see my initial response) then everything from future chances at getting pregnant to death (again, see my initial response) is a possibility.
A miscarriage (human non-medical term) for what is happening (spontaneous abortion-> an abortion performed by the mother's body because either something is wrong with the mother's health or the mother's body detects something wrong at a genetic level with the fetus/wanted pregnancy). However, even with a spontaneous abortion=humanities term of miscarriage the mother's body has to expell all parts of the pregnancy cause the mother's life becomes a ticking time bomb for everything from issues to future ability to get pregnant to death herself as a result of infection from not expelled uterine contents that are decomposing.

Dusty and Marissa, THANK YOU for sharing this with us. I know it's hard, I know how much you care about all your animals and you see them as the gift from God they are as well as you take seriously when God said He has given us charge over the animals. I have watched your channel from the time you started, when Dusty was still teaching and you first got your little starting herd. We are SO proud of all you and Marissa have done and how you have grown with your ranch(s), physically, emotionally, and personally. I have used your channel as a teaching tool as a homeschooling Momma, and this is so important to our learning. My oldest is going into the 6th grade, and this will be part of his lessons when school starts in a few weeks. We have been deep diving into America and exactly what was, is and will be, what we have lost as a Country and those who are trying to save the things we are on the verge of losing. (The 3 and 5 year olds will have to learn this part later) and this is critical to my oldest, to ME, to know and understand to preserve life, ALL LIFE that God has given us. You did NOT ramble Dusty, without someone teaching, we fail to learn, without knowledge we fail to preserve. Don't ever apologize for carrying enough for your herds and US to care for them and TEACH US!! (God made you a teacher for a reason) I can tell you because of you and Marissa, your Mom and Kevin, these animals have a special place in my heart. I knew about them but never understood them until you allowed us to take this journey with you! If I could ranch any animal I would want it to be Bison because of YOU GUYS!
Thank you for caring for them, and for us. For sharing the truth and DETAILS good and bad so we can understand the reality of caring for these majestic creatures. I'm not sure y'all understand what a gift you are to us, and how deep the lessons and preservation roots run just from what you're doing. Keep up fighting for these gifts, we will keep supporting and most of all PRAYING for the animals, your ranch, BOTH places, and most of all for you, Marissa and Brooks.
    Well Done Dusty, well done!

I have been watching your channel for a short time. I went back to watch older posts to get a sense of you. Your mentor back when you were with him at a national park (?) and learned about bison. He saw something special in you. And we see that same something special today. What you did for Cow 1503 was nothing short of exemplary. I am completely captivated. I have the bell on to notify me so I can see what happens next to Dunbar, Eleanor, Big Joe, Belle Star, Peaches.....and now your TX cow. And your tough and beautiful wife right there by your side. Captivated!

I grew up on a dairy farm and yes this did happen. But way back then Vets came out to the farm and handled the situation. Sorry i cant help. I do hope she does recover though. The remaining parts of the calf really need to be evacuated. I dont know the meds for bisons to help with this problem though. I am hoping for you that she has a chance to survive. Bless you.

You're a tough man, Dusty. God bless you 'cause you clearly love your animals & do whatever you need to take care of them.
We love Ms. Texas. Hope she thrives. I didn't know the Texas Bison story. You're a good man to rescue damaged or maltreated animals & nurse them to health.
God bless you, all your family, & all the ranchhands working with you. ❤😂

Sending Prayers to your family and for the TX cow in her recovery. It is always a wait and see kind of thing with animals on a ranch. I hope Marisa is okay after getting out of those boots. I grew up in TX and am familiar with all of those little critters around the ponds. Just watch out for cotton mouth snakes they can be bad. So happy to see that you are sponsored by my very favorite Fishing Clash!! Have a blessed rest of the week & weekend!!

So sorry Dusty for the Texas cow’s unfortunate loss of a calf. I was crying when I realized what you were having to do to try to save your beloved bison. Thanks for remaining transparent in your struggle, I’m not sure most of us could have handled it with as much grace as Marissa and you did. Both of you are a great team and I appreciate your sharing your venture with us. Continued success in saving the mama bison.

Dusty, I have been thinking of that TX momma today and have been wondering how the out come has been. I am keeping all of your family in my prayers over all of this. I grew up around cattle farmers and understand that even when all seems to be going well and right, there are those not so pleasent twists that pop up. The momma cow knows you are there to help all of them, thus she knew to come to you for help. You did well and are doing all that you can do. Keep the faith, brother, keep the faith!
