This song, in general, had me in tears, and Sheryl brought so much Broadway, Ballad, Gospel, and some Wakanda Flare!!!! Beautifully done and another vocal elite. A national treasure on Broadway, film, and in music!
Love it! I love her thick folds! And the Broadway element she brought to this song. I love the sincerity of her performance, fully represents the struggle and aspiration of what this song is. It is the dramatic element for me!
Idk why but for some reason when she’s holding the last note, she reminds me of Mahalia Jackson. Chris and Sheryl showed out last night I was very pleased ❤️😌💯🙌🏾
Sheryl Lee Ralph sing that song from the bottom of her heart. I love it I love it I love it that’s my Jamaican girl I love it.🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 yes she is Jamaican American. We claim her in Jamaica. We love her in Jamaica. She is one of our queen Cheryl Lee Ralph you did a great job you make us proud.
Ms. Ralph Has HAD My Undying ❤️ Since As A Teen Fallin' 'N 💜 With Her On "It's A Living🤩😍🥰--& Your teaching analysis helps me sooo much, as a choir lead singer 'N multiple gospel choirs😁.
"Singing does not put food on the table, singing does not pay the bills, singing is no guarantee for a future...There are a lot of people out there singing their shoulda coulda woulda's.."
I love Sheryl Lee Ralph!! She definately brought it in this performance! Yes Dream Girls all the way up and through her vocals!! Thank you for sharing this!❤❤
Shout out to Jowan Anthony Easton singing with the singers in the white suit from Chicago, he affiliated with a New Direction, Joshua’s Troop, etc. etc.
Thank you! Honestly, I think the key was great for her, and the arrangement was great. I wouldn't necessarily like to "change" anything because I thought it was bad... but I would have loved to have heard the vamp at the end go on a little longer. Maybe add more verses to add more for additional vocal textures maybe.
I love this so much. Also love seeing my little sister choirmate and founding member of God's Property. Ms. Chelsea "Peaches aka Chelsea Darling" West. The young lady with blonde hair over Queen Sheryl Lee Ralph, right shoulder. I'm so proud of everyone in the production of this segment. Thank you sir for your review. I always appreciate and enjoy your analysis 😊 from one Artistic Director to another.
Although a vocal analyst is to be respected, this is not a contest that requires analyzing or judgement. Sheryl Lee Ralph is respected in the industry. Lift Evr'y Voice tells a story of struggle, hope and faith. Whoever performs it does honor to our past and future. It does not require an analyst to dissect it. Let the words touch your hearts and spirits period.
You don't think that me, a *Black* man, understand what the song is about? I'm shedding light on how she sang, but what she's singing about is assumed, understood, and appreciated. So I can analyze the gift she has and who she is while also honoring the song.
Sheryl Lee Ralph would be a perfect Disney Villain, Queen, or Fairy Godmother in a Disney Movie ❤️❤️ I love her
not a villain 🙄
Why she got to be the villain though? #bekindtoaltos
She would be an excellent villain & an impeccable Queen or Fairy Godmother as well
@@thekonversationwithkaleaf right? she’s more godmother like. she too good to be the bad one.

You are the seed of your father the scripture says! Her father is FBA! She is singing our Black national anthem. Not Jamaica"s!!!!
You know, if this wasn't the Super Bowl, we would have kept that jawn going for 20 minutes haha
IKR! 🤣
Listen, I'm so happy I know Philly slang now🤣🤣🤣🤣
Facts 💯💯💯😂😂 😂
She was singing for all the ancestors. Nice!!!
Thank you
The set up of the song seems to be a message to me. It started slow & eventually it grew to a battle/war cry, then took it straight to church!
She was very theatrical!! She definitely made you feel it lol I love it
Sheryl Lee Ralph is freakin amazing!!!!!!! ❤

Hi Jaron, if you were the one working with Ms. Ralph and the choir what changes would you have liked to have tried? I love the way you analyzed this!
Thank you!

You’re just so knowledgeable. It’s a pleasure watching your vids
I had tacos from Jack in the Box.
I was waiting on this one.
This performance was beautiful and has outraged the #fffs 😂
Auntie straight served and slayed. She showed the other performer how to Perform, uhhhmkay???
Interesting.
❤
SHE EVEN DID THAT THING WITH HER BREATH THAT J HOLLIDAY DOES
Thank you, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Choir. Let us march on! The struggle continues. #BLM
Dang you quick! 😂
She did that!!!!!
I like SLR but this performance was underwhelming. I don't think she did as well as she thought she did but I celebrate her moment.
I thought that I was the only one who felt this way lol....I don't care for her singing voice at all!!!
So unfortunate she lip-synced this number. I don't know if that was her choice, or if they forced her to do it. Either way, I find it hard to digest🙄
She didn’t
Great performance. Jaron would you say that Sheryl Lee Ralph is a contralto? Just a question.
Sheryl Lee Ralph is singing to us our James Weldon Johnson's marching orders!
Yes, very much Dream Girls presence!❤
My Daddy My Daddy - Sunmisola Agbebi (Mac Roc Sessions)
Her stage presence always a lady with poise and grace however the pre recorded vocals just was not good. Not a good choice to sing this song.
very cool video.
Talking about Dreamgirls… you could (if possible) do a video analyzing The Supremes!
All going according to plan
