The SB Tactical braces are NOT meant to be shouldered, they just can be. As a Marine Corps veteran with overall service connected spinal injuries also involving the sciatic nerve, I thought I'd have to become left handed my entire life if I tried to shoot again at all because I'm right handed but the SB Tactical brace helped me with my right as well as left hand in shooting my MP5 series guns (AR's are just too common, I'm not). Though I'll never fire rifle expert or shoot USPSA class again, at least with these I didn't have to unsafely try and try again, just sit and watch, or just give up on ever regaining at least a decent level of marksmanship again. I guess you have to be one of us to understand. Semper Fi.

Personally I think there should be another class of weapons recognized. That being PDW, Personal Defensive Weapons. And they should be in whatever configuration the individual wants. If they want a carbine, they can use a carbine. If they want to use a handgun, they can use a handgun. If they want to use an "SBR" they can use an "SBR". It's whatever they want to use. No regulations.
That's not too bad of an idea because the FAA/DOT has an experimental rating you can apply to any aircraft you decide to build yourself. So, the FAA essentially looks the other way and allows you to do whatever you want as long as it's airworthy and you aren't transporting people. The other certificates have massive regulations, because people died before they were implemented. That's what it takes for the government to make rules. Yeah, it's not a gun but you could still do massive damage through just negligence alone in aviation.
From a technical and historical perspective, we can say for sure that there is no such thing as an SBR. You either have rifles, carbines, PDWs, or pistol carbines when looking at shoulder-fired, centerfire, non-machine guns. Examples include Mauser Gewehr 98 Rifle, Rem Model 8, Mauser C96 PDW, and Luger pistol carbine. The SBR misnomer was created out of thin air by Congressman Knutson, who thought he knew things about firearms, but was painfully inept. He was trying to protect deer hunters in MN and was worried that the NFA infringed upon them and their hunting rifles. Even after being assured by AG Cummings that there was no mention of rifles in the NFA draft, Knutson kept running his mouth about a need to add rifles, and increase the arbitrary minimum barrel length on shotguns and rifles from 16” to 18”. AG Cummings said that he wouldn’t object to that change to the draft. The whole thing is obnoxiously retarded and unconstitutional.
SB Tactical was started by Alex Bosco, the original inventor of the pistol stabilizing brace who was upset that a range officer threw his disabled veteran friend off the range because he couldn’t hold his AR-15 pistil steadily enough. Alex Bosco had no manufacturing capability at the time, so after he received his approval letter on Nov 26, 2012, he went to SIG to have them possibly make the brace for him. SIG didn’t accept the original ATF letter because they wanted it for their own legal, and submitted a request from ATF, who again approved it. Then SIG started making the SIG Brace. Bosco started SB Tactical making more brace options, and it grew from there with millions of units sold just from his company. A Colorado LE Agency asked if people used the brace in ways other than designed, would it change the classification of the firearm. ATF issued them a formal letter stating it would not, so then production and popularity exploded. Many LE Agencies started using braced AR-15 pistols as well, without having to jump through the NFA hoops with Form 5, even if they are a tax-exempt special class of people. "9.4.3 ATF Form 5. Transferors of NFA firearms to government entities, Federal, State, or local, must file ATF Forms 5, Application for Tax Exempt Transfer and Registration of a Firearm, to transfer the firearms to such entities.” LEOs and departments who didn’t want to wait for ATF approval just started using braced AR-15 pistols instead. You can see several body cam videos of officers responding to critical incidents with pistol brace-equipped AR-15s. ATF said for over 10 years that pistol braces did not change a Title I firearm into a Title II firearm (NFA), so millions upon millions of people purchased and have been using them lawfully ever since. Now ATF changed their minds after Pedo Pete ordered them to, and here we are.

the Magpul BTR brace is okay, but I had to put tape on that hole to keep from pinching beard hair and I found that same 3D print end cap to make it more comfortable to shoulder.

Hate to be that bearer of bad news but that Pad you put on the back of the brace reclassify it to a stock. I have been down this road many times when you order the "Pad" from several company websites they have disclaimers on there site stating as such. be careful folks
Well if you are disabled please do yourself a favor and go to the opposite end of the table where the SB Tactical braces are. Stay away from the Blade style braces. Depending on your disability the blades are really hard to work with and can actually be quite dangerous. Take my word for it. I know what I am saying. I also have a long and honorable mitary career . But on one rather rough day my life was forever changed. The pistol braces have given people like myself another option to change and enjoy other shooting sports with new techniques. To us the pistol braces have opened a whole new world to us. Or for someone like myself a more familiar shooting style that I missed for years.
They are very similar, but the Maxim uses a shorter RET, tiny short buffer, and stiff short spring. I’ve had them both. You can get a more compact overall Personal Defense Weapon with the Maxim. The coolest one of all is the SB Tactical Honey Badger PDW Brace. It also uses a tiny, short buffer, tube, and spring, but with MP5-like telescoping furniture.
If you have kids or want to effectively be able to maneuver an AR-15 indoors, the pistol length is a better option than carbines or rifles. Either way, I don’t need to justify my arms bearing and keeping to unconstitutional criminal cartels. It’s none of their business.
I run a blade 2 now that the atf failed to take out braces. It works, Its just ridulous that i can put this on my pistol and its perfectly legal. But yet if i wanna get a cheap metal folding stock, i have to register it. Atf is trash 🗑
At this point holsters need to be compatible with red dots and whatever light the customer has, because most people i know have both.. I have a Walther PDP compact with a Holosun 508T and a Holosun PID (and yes its better than the overpriced surefire x300) but finding a holsters was proving to be impossible.. And while i think Vedder is right up there with Safariland, and would definitely be my go to choice for my holster needs, i couldn't find one compatible with my set up.. So i went on Amazon and bought a $32 mega fit Cytac holster that was compatible with a TLR light, and then i used a $10 dremel tool from harbor freight and modified it.. And it fits perfectly.. do yourself a favor and save yourself some money and do the same.. And if you're thinking that seems like too much to go through to save a couple hundred bucks, its not.. I'm as mechanically inclined as a one legged monkey in an ass kicking contest.. Currently im in the process of building my first PCC.. i bought the Maxim Defense 15 lower assembly (because for some reason its cheaper than buying the retractable brace and adapter to put on my Aero precision lower) Im gonna probably go with a ln Aero precision upper and bolt carrier group (sold separately for some reason) and then im gonna go from there.. Those 3d printed rubber plugs turned braces into real stocks practically. I loved my SBA3 with the plug. Almost JuSt aS gOoD as a stock.

I run a blade 2 now that the atf failed to take out braces. It works, Its just ridulous that i can put this on my pistol and its perfectly legal. But yet if i wanna get a cheap metal folding stock, i have to register it. Atf is trash 🗑

At this point holsters need to be compatible with red dots and whatever light the customer has, because most people i know have both.. I have a Walther PDP compact with a Holosun 508T and a Holosun PID (and yes its better than the overpriced surefire x300) but finding a holsters was proving to be impossible.. And while i think Vedder is right up there with Safariland, and would definitely be my go to choice for my holster needs, i couldn't find one compatible with my set up.. So i went on Amazon and bought a $32 mega fit Cytac holster that was compatible with a TLR light, and then i used a $10 dremel tool from harbor freight and modified it.. And it fits perfectly.. do yourself a favor and save yourself some money and do the same.. And if you're thinking that seems like too much to go through to save a couple hundred bucks, its not.. I'm as mechanically inclined as a one legged monkey in an ass kicking contest..
Currently im in the process of building my first PCC.. i bought the Maxim Defense 15 lower assembly (because for some reason its cheaper than buying the retractable brace and adapter to put on my Aero precision lower) Im gonna probably go with a ln Aero precision upper and bolt carrier group (sold separately for some reason) and then im gonna go from there..

That brace is terrible.
The tiny little square notch that indexes the receiver extension has a ton of play in it and after repeated firing it deforms and gouges the front of the hole it’s in on the receiver extension.
