- This is a taste test/review of the Strawberry Cupcake and Churro Caramel Cupcake from Marketside (Walmart brand). They were $3.64 each.
* Strawberry Cupcake - Vanilla flavored cake filled with a sweet strawberry flavored filling, topped with strawberry flavored icing and sprinkled with pink crystal sugar. ½ cupcake = 340 calories
* Churro caramel Cupcake - vanilla flavored cake filled with dulce de leche caramel filling, topped with a swirl of cinnamon icing, dulce de leche caramel topping and sprinkled with cinnamon cookie crumbs and sugar. ½ cupcake = 330 calories

These look so good and a good size. Wow 340 for half, that’s 680 for me! They seemed so fresh and really a good buy from a store bakery. Very impressed with these. I’d happily eat both. Thanks for the review.

Marketside tends to be a lot better then walmarts basic bakery items. I love their vanilla bean mini cupcakes. Almost 4$ is kinda steep though. I would much rather have walmart cheesecake slice that's twice as big

Disappointed that they don't have more flavors available of these and while I do see some filling it would be nice to see more. I know that can get messy but heck they've already got a pound of frosting on there so it's messy already anyway! 😂

It would be interesting to find out if they used apple cinnamon in the churro and as you said just use that as an excuse to sell it all year round and just call it a different name

You could spend just a little more and get a nothing Bundt cake.
That’s true. I think for most people, Walmart is a lot more convenient. I know for us, Nothing Bundt Cakes is 40 minutes away and it’s tucked back in an odd area.

I live in a retirement community. I can see where these would sell good. We don’t want to bake a cake unless we are going to a potluck. 😂 we don’t do that to much either, mostly we meet at restaurants. I like buying the little two pack of donuts Walmart sells.

They are pretty and a good size. I agree that would perk someone up or replace a whole birthday cake if someone is on their own. I think the strawberry is winner here. Great review
You could eat a Costco muffin for the same amount of damage. Personally I'd pick the muffin!
But then again, you'd have to commit to a dozen 🤣😅
That’s why Costco never worked for us. People say freeze the rest. I don’t have that kind of freezer space.
@@TamiDunn My mother and I have tried Costco twice, but both times we agreed that there was nothing there we needed. BJ’s on the other hand works for us very well, and it’s way closer.
We don’t buy the bakery items, but I know they sell in less overwhelming quantities.

Thanks for a sweet n great review. If you want to indulge in a sweet n quick dessert not not care about any calories, I would choose the strawberry. I probably look for another dessert but last resort, lol!

You guys need to tour America’s Bakers. When you want that Dulce de Leche flavor and you get apple. These sound okay. I do think I would pass on these. However, these would be good for a quick treat. Strawberry would be my choice as well. Great review.
