IVAPS can only be used in Non-Invasive Ventilation right? Let's say you have an Astral vent, and a trached patient. From what I know, you are absolutely NOT to use IVAPS in the trached patient right?

    Does Medicare support this product?

Paul N. Markel Jr. Yes as long as the condition qualifies. Medicare only pays 80% though

I don't trust it. I have a issue with mine. It is set on IVAPS mode. When I let a breath out, it will stop me from taking one in. Today, my heart started acting up. When I switched back to my old bi pap, my heart issues quit. I don't think this lady knows what the hell she is doing. She can't figure out what to do and in the mean time , I'm chancing my life. When I come off of it, I have more trouble breathing. Can you explain? I wear a mask. I'm supposed to be on bi pap mode. Sounds to me like I'm being lied to. The therapist said I was the first they tried it with. I'm not a damn guinea pig. What is she doing wrong?

It sounds like the settings in iVAPS mode are not set up properly for you. Depending on the types of respiratory or cardiovascular issues you have, there are a lot of different parameters that need to be properly set (trigger sensitivity, cycle sensitivity, rise time, Ti Min and Max and more).
If you make an effort to inhale and the machine doesn't respond, most likely your trigger setting isn't sensitive enough. If your inhalations feel too short/cut off, you can try extending the Ti Min value, lower the cycle sensitivity, or choose a longer rise time.
In iVAPS mode, if you don't set the correct target alveolar ventilation rate, you will not get the support that you need throughout the night. Too much ventilation can lead to hyperinflation and hyperventilation, and that could easily lead to discomfort and ineffective treatment.
Just curious: have you tried the "learn targets" function in iVAPS mode? It's a period of 20 - 60 minutes and the machine automatically picks the settings it thinks is best for you.

I'm having the same experience. Every so often when taking a breath, it gets blocked and then a split second later there is a burst of air. Then it gets in your head whether or not the next breath will be blocked. My sleep is shallower and I wake up more during the night.
