Sound basically like an open source version of outlook exchange calendar, like the idea
Love the enthusiasm for open source! The way I've always resolved this issue though is just to look at the other persons calendar; for meetings internal to my organisation this works pretty well - I just find a free time in their calendar and then send a meeting invitation - no back and forth. This strikes me as though it might only be useful if you have a lot of meetings where you haven't pre-shared your calendars. Idk, it seems like it has a very narrow use case.
Yay, been looking for an opensource alternative to calendly. I'll try and contribute, just need to polish my Python 😂
This is really cool, might hop in for the exp.
Here comes guru with another awesome video🔥❤
Waited for 1 week😂
I love your video a lot. Keep going and tks for amazing tips about coding.
I've always wanted to get into open-source projects but like many, I never knew where to start with the whole thing. I've now forked your repository Kalle and look forward to working on it in the future. I've made damn sure as well to create my own branches and not tamper with the master branch!!
feature: also include the option to choose if the meeting is online or on-site, calculate travel time from last appointment location to destination
The intro city shot is stunning.
Love the idea, maybe I'll try to contribute something to have fun during the quarantine :D
looks like someone got a new laptop. good for you!
Your video always motivate me.Thanks
Cool , Good idea Kalle :) Thanks
I think its a really nice idea :)
I was curious if you plan to make a series on the project where you explain a little of the process?
I have learned a lot from your channel. Thanks
Wouldn't it be a good idea if you set the initial commits for this project?
Like the basic django project with all the informations, because otherwise everybody starts their own django project and it will be a huge mess to put this all together later on.
I would really like to participate and help you with your app, but because of the reason above it's really hard to find a point where to begin.
Kalle this is a wonderful video
Your place looks crazy! What an "office" view!
This is awesome, What do you see for first few shots? Storyblocks?
Sounds a bit like the coding interview question from the video with clement and tech with Tim
Nice! I wanted to start an open-source project from some time now but I didn't know where to start and what it entails
Probably most top comment ever lol... You are really an inspiration for me on my coding journey man, thank you! and love the idea of opening an open soruce project.
I'll try looking into it and see what I can contribute, still quite new in using frameworks with Python though
Don't say you are not pro, We learnt a lot from your Channel Kalle 👍🏽👍🏽
Hey Kalle , how about post a wireframe/prototype of your vision that will help us get a better understanding of the use cases
Awesome brother. I hope I can do it too.
Will definitely contribute to it
Impressive.... Day by day you are growing up
The open source community has been advancing modern software and technologies for a long time now. It is a beautiful community to join and devel.
A lot of OSS projects begin with a single person and you open it for support & improvement until it gains sustainable userbase and funding or it (sadly) becomes deprecated...there are A LOT of great projects that had to pause devel for one reason or another...maintaining a solid, skilled volunteer team(s).
Thank you for your great introduction. Is there any website or community to help defining a project?
I have an idea of a project in mind but, before putting my hands on coding, I will like to expose it to other developers to get their input and make a good briefing. Is this normally done in Github too? Any comment on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks!
I really like your sponsor, but I was wondering if you could make a guide to running that VPS. Hosting your website frontend, with a backend and maybe even a seperate admin website...
so cool :) are you planning to use a front end library or a framework?
nice one man
That's a great idea
There Is no direct link to the repo. I have a few ideas. Will start working on it tomorrow.
Nice!!!
Think about making a app.And in the app you can have friends and you need to be friend with someone to book a meeting
I did something similar in my studium with some collegues, but sadly we never finished the project
"You can't break anything"
Sounds like a challenge!
I like this idea. I think someone like me (someone who has never contributed to anything at all at the moment) will be willing to start
The app side can be also just for the user who has an account, however the client doesnt need the app, only needs the web address.
Good idea👍
what if we use python (Django) for Backend/API and React.JS for the web app. I could help with the API. in my openion, it will be the easiest way out
Hi great video! which model/year is your Macbook?
Hey Kalle, Not sure but there is a way to connect you LiveCoder channel to your primary (this) channel and then we can see what channels you have in the channels section. Currently, it says "This channel doesn't feature any other channels."
I really would love to work in an open source project... But I was never in to python, firebase, Django until now.. So hope I can contribute in the near future. Great start
But how yo can contribute in these projects?
I'm literally already doing this for my final. Lmao
Final?
Hey Kalle, can you do a video checking out different UI 'generators'? Like supernova.io and flutter studio
Gonna grind to get that top collaborator graph
I think Microsoft outlook already has this functionality with their scheduling manager, but I guess that is limited to people who are both Microsoft outlook users.
LETS GO
Sadly most open source projects end up like this one. Github repo shows that it started on March 6 (original owner possibly worked on it prior to that but nonetheless) aaaand it lasted 2 months and there has been no activity on it for 1 month already with 32 open issues. I've been looking for an open source project that interests me that has hopefully started recently to contribute to and grow with it but it's proving to be harder than I thought.
Thoughts of the new MacBook Air for web development? Think it has the power?
i am beginner but i can help in making front end with html css and javascript.
What about a simple enough app where you can manage the bookings you already have (so you can see which ones you have, which ones are coming up, and then in rare occasions you need to reschedule than you can view that persons account and select from their available slots) or you can't just search for people you need to get the link from them to access their calendar and then and only then can you add them to a sort of friends list
Would love to get involved hence my eagerness for an app component to be added
Hi Kalle,
I am working ez a Manual Test Engineer, and my goal for this year to learn some programming to be able to automate test by using Selenium. I cannot decide between C# and Python. What do you suggest? What would be the better option?
Would you consider to also maybe have another branch for php as I am a php developer and I can already do most of what you require.
Django ist perfect for me👨💻
What if u made it a progressive web app? It would just be adding two files (manifest.json and a service worker) and it would function pretty much like a mobile app. The user would just have to press “add to home screen” and it would look just like another mobile app. Ive done this with Flask, but I’m pretty sure it’s simple on Django also
Build an app that can take note questions from text books and tutorials ?
What do you use for your hair?
What is the demoware being used at 2:08?
calendly has similar features
Have you ever heard of Doodle? But I really like the idea of starting an OpenSource project
what macbook do you own ?
@Kalle, can we use any language?
I plan to use python
What if you download a source code with an exploit run it and end up messing up your computer.
i have two good web app software developer by me, i m thinking to open source them, but afraid if someone steel my code, tweet a bit, and upload in git with his name... can you help my confusion on that. i m confused if i should "saas" it, or upload whole code to git..
Aw... I thought you FINALLY renewed your laptop
You should consider to use the MIT license instead of GPL.
Can i develop it using js not python?
how can i do this i dont have degree but i will code
4:51 haha xD
0:25 Moscow city😂 my working place😀😀
I might have to fork this! Is there a way in Python to automatically block 10 minutes after a meeting is scheduled?
There is always a way
isn't this something like calendly?
Yes, it is
Oh God! Is it a Moscow City on your video?
WhenToMeet?
Do you play counter strike?
why not flutter :(
Is there any UI/UX design files so as to facilitate the Front End developers to contribute and join the race of open source
If any we can create it for turning this into a product
you are doing open source project on mac
Whoop
i am also new to django ? Can i join?
You can also use Twilio API to integrate it with WhatsApp, eliminating any app installations. www.twilio.com/docs/sms/whatsapp/quickstart/python
you should build a pwa instead of a website or app
Millenials invented Google Calendar
I don’t get it... you want to use Django as frontend? IMHO if you want to use firebase, jest stick to JS and some JS framework...
So this website already exists and is quite popular (calendly). Don't want to destroy your motivation, just want to let you know
Kalle 😄, nowadays its hard for my comment to even be among the top 😂. How's the RUclips life 😂
Haha yes it’s gotten even more crazy! But life is good how’s your life? Long time no see😉
@@Hallden_ I'm coming back to RUclips real soon 😂, watch out for an upload from me this week🍾😉, keep that notification button on 😂
calendly does this...
That is calendly
open source only works great when a lot of people are interested in the project ! every GitHub public repo is an open source project ... pretty sure 80% of them are only sourced by 1 dev.
Calendly?
It is not maintained any more
Umm, hate to break it to you, but this exact software already does exist.
calendly.com/
Yeah sure, nowadays almost anything you can think of has already been made or someone somewhere is working on it.
I don't think he plans on competing with any existing solutions, well at least not for a long time.
The main goal here is to experience working on a community based project whilst learning a few things down the road.
You should increase contrast of your videos.
Hey
Am I the only person eho watches his video at 1.5x😛...btw g8t video👏👌
That's the speed works for me too...
🤣 "Half the time I have no clue what I'm doing" Lmfao sounds like my average day in the engineering office 😂
Them: "Will that work?"
Me: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "What's the worst that could happen? Let's find out!"
Hahahahaha.
Best way to write better code is to read better code, at least in my experience.
in just one vid your hair grow that much HAHAHAH nice use of old footage
