0:21 - "The west end of the piccadilly line at west acton". Because I see 2009 trains on the piccadilly line every day.

Considering that 09ts can't even fit in the Piccadilly line tunnels and so can't use the connection, that's definitely an example of something going very wrong...

ASTLEYFAM Seb & Kieran I work on the tube, it definitely isn't happening by 2021, knowing tfl a realistic date is 2050. They are really bad at learning from their mistakes and are not efficient at all, I don't identify myself as working for TfL but instead London Underground.

I would DEARLY love to be a tube driver ... Things going wrong never phase me, you just crack on, follow procedure and improvise using common sense when procedure doesn't quite cover the situation.
Maybe a day or two a week though ... I've done jobs where I'm on my own the whole time but this probably gets boring pretty quick.

ASTLEYFAM Seb & Kieran well, you say that, but if you look TfL have said the NtubeFL are capable of being fully automated, but it wouldn't happen till 2055 at least as with the current infrastructure, it's not safe, both management and unions recognise that. And all those new trains (Sstock and 09 stock) will have drivers and aren't capable of being entirely autonomous all trains now are designed to have a driver and that's the way it will be for a while. Yes they will be capable of driving themselves, but they will have a driver onboard who will have overall control, also the Bakerloo line won't get new trains till 2033 and even then they need to install all of the relevant infrastructure after that (signal systems, PEDs, control rooms etc) so I reckon you'll be able to fully drive a train on LUL even in 2035 and even then, what about network rail? They have refused point blanc to introduce ATC and ATO on their railway (maintenance and training costs are too high as it would be a specialised piece of track). So even in 2040 at least, you'll be able to partially drive a train. In case you are wondering, I do drive tube trains for a living.

It's surprisingly quite lucrative. A few drivers have grossed over £100,000 per annum, though this is unusual. I believe recruitment for drivers is internal only nowadays, so you have to have worked for TfL or Underground to even have a chance of applying.

@@paulanderson79 My uncle, who worked for Network Rail as a signaller until fairly recently, told me in 2013 (two years after this series was filmed) that LU haven’t recruited a driver externally since 2008.
That may have changed in the eight years since, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it hasn’t.

I believe the Circle and H&C share drivers. I know Waterloo & City line T/O's also work on the Central, they are based at Leytonstone. Other than that, generally drivers are dedicated to an individual line but can transfer to another line once route learning is completed.

Absolutely impossible to get a job for London Underground honestly. Seriously type in jobs for TFL right now, nothing comes up and it’s been like that for years. They higher internally and train driver jobs, forget about it! The tests are insane, no normal person passes them apart from a very very few lucky ones. Everyone one I have ever known told me those tests are ridiculous! Like for eg a number of lights will quickly flash up on the screen and if you can’t remember what you saw, instant fail. Smh. Boggles the mind though coz if you see some of the people that do work there you think, how on earth did he get the job he looks like a tramp ffs. Smh
