Also, to turn off your auto high beams, turn the car on, turn head lights to auto, then pull back on the stick turning your hi beams on manually for roughly 40 sec. you will see a light turning it off
First off, congrats on your purchase! I hope you are enjoying your Accord. I loved the car. If it does not have the circle, you will not have remote start. For 2018, I believe the Accord Sport 2.0T, Accord EX-L, and Accord Touring were the models that came equipped with remote start. However, you can add it aftermarket. It was essential when I had the car because I lived in Boston and Denver.

The last one I had had for almost 12 years before jiffy lube did a bad oil change (they really messed it up and shorted me some oil - never take your car there, they don't care and keep trying to upsell you on things you don't need.) and this was right before we had the horrible freeze couple years back, and the engine seized up due to lack of oil. It was more cost-effective to buy a new car then buy a new engine. I love my new Honda! It has features, of course, that my old one didn't, but that remote start would be great to have.

I discovered anti-lockout back when I had a 2016 accord. My friends and I took a trip to walmart, we put everything in the trunk, I shut it, and then it makes that beep and pops it back open. I kept thinking it was because we crammed the trunk too full and i'm sitting there like a damn idiot repeatedly trying to close this trunk and rearrange things. After maybe 20 minutes I finally realized it was because the spare keys were in my jacket inside the vehicle.
You would think this is a no brainer feature for all brands, but when I had BMWs, they didn’t even offer this feature. You are SOL if you leave them in trunk or even inside vehicle.
Great question, when you opt for the Accord Sport 1.5T (step above base LX trim), this includes 19-inch alloy wheels, Sportier exterior accents, Sport-tuned suspension, Larger front disc brakes,8-inch multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, An eight-way power driver's seat with four-way power lumbar, etc. Opting for the Accord Sport 2.0T includes all of the above features and also add features that make it equivalent to the higher EX Trim. Such as, satellite/HD radio, moonroof, remote start, heated front seats, Rear-seat air vents, blind spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert. I hope this helps in your journey to find the perfect Accord.

My 2014 Accord has the #4 function perform by holding the lock button twice rather than sticking the physical key. I'm pretty sure this one has it too. Somebody try & let know?
Your wish is my command. When started remotely, the engine automatically shuts off after 10 minutes of idling and/or the brake pedal and ENGINE START/STOP button have not been pressed simultaneously. To extend the run time for another 10 minutes during the first run, press the lock button, then press and hold the remote start button. Some exterior lights flash six times if a 10-minute extension request was transmitted successfully.
Haha good question. I believed it's designed that way to avoid accidental opening of the trunk. If you press the wrong button, sit on your keys, etc. Hope you are enjoying your vehicle!
I don’t even own a Honda, but co signed on my gf’s (well I guess I do technically own it if the car is in my name as well) but NONE of these are hidden. Everyone that didn’t know about any of these CLEARLY didn’t read the owners manual. Ignorance is not always bliss.
i have had my EX for about just 2 months. I have about 4K on it. It is a nice car, kinda wished I got the EX-L. Oh well. It is fun to drive, have to know the limitations of the 1.5T. Is quick when it is spooled up, otherwise stay in your lane! I'm not fond of the factory tires. Not in a hurry to buy new ones, but different tires would make a lot of difference in the driving mannerisms. It wants to hang corners and off ramps. Oh yeah, the audio system in the EX is weak. No power. You notice it when driving with the windows down and the sunroof open. Very disappointing.
Congrats on the new car! I'm glad you are enjoying it overall. I agree, it is pretty fun to drive. I think the 2.0T is a better match, but I can understand why one would choose the 1.5T. I'm easily able to keep up with entry level luxury sport sedans, but it has it's limitations. A good set of summer performance tires would take this car to the next level. I've noticed the Honda brand in general gets the short end of the stick when it comes to audio. I'm not sure how to fix it.

While it has been a feature on Hondas for a number of years, in my experience the majority of Honda Owners are unaware of this goodie unlike us car guys/gals. honestly, it's pretty standard on many makes. My '15 Fusion and '09 Mazda6 did the exact same thing with the keyfob. (hold down unlock button to open all windows). Nice video btw, I have this car in still night pearl and love it.
True. Many car manufactures have a similar version, my BMW that I traded in also had this feature but worked slightly different (did not have to insert key to roll windows up). I've been working in the auto industry for the past 5 years and the majority of consumers still don't know about this feature. I always demo this with my clients if equipped.

That's awesome. Most of the new technology comes to Acura first because they are the luxury division. However for the Accord it's a newer feature and many don't know it's built in. I just want to bring awareness to this features.
BIG Bzz This is actually a 2.0T, 10 speed automatic,Sport model. A couple giveaways is the black front grille, the wheels, and the lack of chrome exterior accents. The Touring wheels are more sedate, I like how the Sport wheels standout.
No the ex trim has 17" wheels not the 19". The touring has 19" and different wheels. You can purchase the black or chrome rims for the 19" models but that's an extra 2500. Not worth it IMO. The touring wheels have grown on me and look classy. Get compliments on them all the time.
That's great Pedro. The new Civics are awesome and when you get a higher than base trim, come well equipped. Many people dont refer to their owners manual or settings in their vehicle so I'm bringing to the forefront those "hidden features".

None of these features are “hidden.” Reading the owners manual will help you know the features of your car. They took the whole key thing from BMW and it’s been a feature for years now. All of this is explained in the owners manual. Don’t you people read up on your new cars?
Sir, I dont believe your 2008 Accord from factory came with a smart key that offers remote start, walk away lock feature, push button start, digital tachometer, etc. Many of these features are new to you. Thanks for watching.
@@hunalejandro 🤔 Remote start was added as a factory option in 2008 I have since then switch to a better aftermarket system, pretty sure my car locks itself after 30 seconds I've owed it since new
@@Highgear145 If it was an option, it definitely wasn't built into the key. I never seen an Accord key with a blade also have remote start. It would've been a clunky secondary fob. Walk away auto lock is a little different. Once I walk about 8 feet away from the car, the vehicle senses the key is not within proximity and therefore locks versus a time elapse lock.

Pablo Herasme Thanks for watching and commenting Pablo. You are correct, Camry is still equipped with a six cylinder. Other than a more pleasing sound, there are no major advantages. The Accord is slightly faster, gets slightly better fuel economy, and weighs less which translates to a more dynamic drive. Nowadays, it’s about doing more with less.
hunalejandro vise versa. The accord has no major advantages over the Camry. The V6 adds character that turbo 4 can’t have. Yes the accord maybe the overall better car, but the Camry has certainly close the gap dangerously close to it.
Pablo Herasme I can totally agree with that statement. Very well said. There are other advantages, but not regarding powertrain. Such as the Accord offers LED headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. It has more rear legroom and more trunk space, but still weights less.

The trunk and the 20 min remote start was new for me. Accords have being rolling the windows down with the fob for around 20 years now.

let me know when you figure out how to have the digital mph displayed on the LCD side of the instrument panel, and not in kph.
That's something that's missing. For the American market Accord, there is no digital speedometer.

how do you stop the "honk" when the car unlocks and locks? its annoying and loud.
Should be under settings in the infotainment. It's definitely possible. It's been a while since I've owned this car. Forgive me.

Which Trim Level do you have? LX, EX, Touring, Sport? The LX does not come equipped with this feature unfortunately.

In hot places you can them roll the down from a distance to cool the car before you step in.

The Accord is slightly faster, gets slightly better fuel economy, and weighs less which translates to a more dynamic drive. Nowadays, it’s about doing more with less.
hunalejandro vise versa. The accord has no major advantages over the Camry. The V6 adds character that turbo 4 can’t have. Yes the accord maybe the overall better car, but the Camry has certainly close the gap dangerously close to it.
Pablo Herasme I can totally agree with that statement. Very well said. There are other advantages, but not regarding powertrain. Such as the Accord offers LED headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. It has more rear legroom and more trunk space, but still weights less.
