Alex, I will never not big up your work on this channel! I work for an EXTREMELY busy Sephora in NYC, & it’s almost impossible for me, as a Beauty Advisor, to relay all of these VERY useful tips to my clients during my expected 5 min, microwavable conversations. So instead, I just pick out all of the products, & color palettes I know will work for them, & then just send them straight to your channel for technique and application knowledge. I refuse to give Sephora the satisfaction of just capitalizing on desperate clients who actually need in depth advice. My clients always come back to rebuy & sing your praises for being awesome at what you do, & thank me for steering them the right way. You rock.
As a glasses wearer, I've found that a Fixing Spray is the best way to keep my glasses from rubbing off my nose makeup throughout the day! Was an absolute game changer for me!
Can you explain more on how you use the spray on your nose? Do you spritz it onto a puff and then blend it onto your nose or just spritz it onto your nose? That nose area is my pet peeve😢!
Sorry Alex but I can't focus on what you're saying because you look stunning with today's hair and makeup. These colours complement you so well 😍. Please make tutorial how to recreate it 😊 Happy New Year from UK xx
@@kimharwood5472it looks like her eyes is what’s mostly different. Butttt i seen one of her replies and she said she filmed this look and will be posting it next 😁😁
I'm here to say that I took the tip earlier this year about using a puff under the eyes along with tapping off excess powder on my hand. I use the E.L.F. Halo Glow powder for that too, also via your recommendation. Game changer. And yes, you don't need to spend a ton of money. I got my puffs from Amazon. Thank you, Alex. 💜
At 54 I have lines. I’ve found my way of working with them. I prep with moisturiser and eye cream and let that sink in. I colour correct before foundation using Nyx stick correctors I use my finger to tap. After foundation I use an under eye brightener I use a tapered concealer brush and blend a tiny bit where the creases are. Then I use puff and work powder into puff and tap off excess. This has taken me ages to work out it doesn’t get rid of crease but it doesn’t look crepey. Little bit at a time. Xx
Just have to tell you that I have learned SO so much from your channel, and as a result, I have so much fun and take so much pleasure in trying all these techniques you recommend. I've tried multiple different products, mix things, and play around in the same way that I approach art and design in my professional life. Makeup is just another extension of my creativity and your channel and all the advice you've given over the years has truly inspired me to play and explore makeup as a fun outlet of self expression!
I love the Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist. The sprayer isn’t the greatest but the formula works so well for me. Whenever I’ve put a little too much makeup on or look a little too powdery, I spray that on and it’s like magic. Brings my skin back to looking like skin.. melts everything together and gives a healthy sheen. I also find that it does help my makeup last longer than if I hadn’t used it. No one ever talks about that product but I love it, have used it for years.
Foundation mixing IS magic! Moreover, sometimes I add a little sheer liquid blush (EM Cosmetics ones are the best) to balance the shade and make my favorite matte long-lasting foundations slightly more sheer and moisturizing. Love your tips!
Your new hairdo looks great! As someone who is older, I can second your tip about being serious about your skincare. I'm not into fillers/botox etc, but I definitely am consistent about taking care of my skin. It makes a HUGE difference in how my makeup goes on. It doesn't have to be expensive products either. Side note..I have one of those Sephora puffs. They're great, but they hate the washer, even in a lingerie bag. I recommend hand washing them 😂!
Great video - thank you! I only do a little foundation mixing, but you've inspired me to do more in 2025. I'm 63 with dry skin. The best method I've found to prevent concealer creasing under my eyes is: 1. Skin prep - Alex is SO right! 2. Silicone-based primer such as Lancome La Base Pro. Don't skip this if you have dry mature skin. 3. Apply glowy corrector such as Beauty Pie 4. Apply setting spray using a damp beauty blender (if you're mature, avoid those with alcohol) 5. Apply the tiniest amount of concealer (Alex is right again - less is more!) 6. Apply the tiniest amount of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish powder 7. Apply setting spray with a damp beauty blender I can't wait to get my hands on the Lisa Eldridge concealer pens!!!
Also 63 with very dry skin, and I never use primer, glowy corrector, setting spray, or powder under my eyes. And yet I don't seem to have much of a problem with creasing. Or, maybe I don't notice it.
Thank you for these simple and important tips - been mixing foundations for years as I'm olive, easiest way to get a great match throughout the seasons. Love your hair for the New Year!! ✨ 🎆
I so needed this - thank you for these tips!! I've been using more cream products recently and your tip about waiting to spot conceal until the end was a lightbulb moment for me lol. Especially mixing blush, etc. to get the right color match. Can't wait to try!
Hi Alex, thanks for the video. My makeup seems to last well without any special steps, and I'd guess that's because I have very dry skin. I'm sure it helps that I moisturize pretty well before I apply it. I don't use much powder, and especially never under my eyes, because, dry skin. Of course, I can't speak for those with oily skin.
You are so beautiful and so knowledgeable in skin care and makeup, your skin is so beautiful, I learn alot from you, would you do another video on how to put eye makeup for hooded eyes mine are hooded and when I do my eyes it always looks wrong
I’ve been mixing my foundations as well and as much as that really annoys me, custom blends always come out amazing. Currently it’s the about-face L2olive and Danessa myricks vision cream N03 to create a beautiful color and finish. Set with a little huda pound cake 🤌🏼🤌🏼AND it lasts all day long. But first and foremost, I couldn’t agree more that my skincare is #1. Honestly starting the night before making sure I’m treating my skin right and when I wake up starting that hydration. Anywhoodles, I hope you have a great new year boo! Love ya Alex ❤️
Mixing foundations yes!!!!! I’ve been doing this for years because i feel like most foundations are either on one side of the spectrum being full matte, and the other side being full dewy, hardly any are actual satin foundations. But mixing gives you benefits of both foundations
Alex, I have been using this Linda Halberg Crayon in the color Greige which I have always wondered if you have tried. I think you might like it. It's kinda Lime Crime Taupest-y. Slightly more green-brown than that though, but it's multi-use formula; lips, eyes, etc. I like it for a no makeup day eyeliner. (:
Hi🙂 I'm loving the blush that moves with the light each time ur head turns😊and don't get me started on the lip pencil....😄great tips vid!! Happy New Year🤗🎉🎊
I have a light olive 🫒 complexion and I'm always mixing foundations and pigments. I use the L'Oreal lumi foundation in a 7-8 to darken foundations and I have LA Girl pro mixers in blue and white. I love LA Girl pro mixers because they're matte and they don't change much of the foundation formula. I do the same with cream and stick blushes I mix them with foundation, glowtions and even sheer powders kinda like Patrick TA. I really like customizing colors and textures. I'm not a makeup artist but I have so much fun mixing products and creating my own concoctions at night. If I don't like how it all looks it's fine because I'm going to shower anyways.
Could you do a video specifically about creasing around the mouth/in smile lines? I have a chronic skin condition that often causes redness/texture around my mouth, so instinctively I want coverage there, but I always end up with wild creasing in my smile lines within a few hours. 😩
