I've always used gun socks and never had any rust. Some guns that I haven't shot in years have been in socks for years and still no corrosion.I always make sure they are cleaned and wiped down before they go in the sock.Good Luck.
As you said, good for anti-banging in overfilled safes. If your safe has dehumidifier box or rod there's no need to worry. Pain to keep recharging the boxes though.
I have two questions. Please answer. Do you put the guns in the sock with the guns being completely dry, slightly lubed or heavily oiled, that goes for both the inside and outside of the gun? My next question is do you completely seal the gun in the sock and tie it off or do you leave the sock open at the end? Please respond.
I live in south Carolina and the only way i deal with this f#!$ humidity is to have the firearms hung up high and off the floor. For the safe its best to keep it wide open if your home. For smaller firarms i put in plastic bages covered in gun oil
If you really want it to fit, you need to cut the seal end to make the sock a little longer than your rifle, and then you seal the cut end with staples or something. I used long staples to seal the end.
I’ve never used one, but they seem cool. My uncle in Louisiana puts a little gun oil on his gun socks. Sounds messy to me though, but rust is worse than a dry woman.......
I need more, but I just ordered more last night. I love these, especially if you have too many guns stacked together. I've never had any problems with this at all. I also use desiccant canisters in my safe's but we don't have much humidity here anyway.
Great video, my wife gave me the stink eye about a third of the way through the video 🤣. I've been using socks for decades. Not in a humid area but never had any problems with rust.
They have a lot of leverage don’t they. We’ve all heard those nightmare stories of bone thin, sex starved men confined to sleeping with a couch hogg’n dog for long periods of time. A veritable hell.
Without overthinking basically as long as you don't leave the sock were it's dripping wet Nd moisture everywere you shouldn't have any problems oil the gun up put it in the sock and place 2 10 gram silicia gel tabs in the sock these socks are not cotton so they don't hold moisture if any moisture gets in the gel tabs will suck it up literally u shouldn't have any issues with these
I would put 2 10 gram gel packs in the sock just for extra safety that even if moisture does get in the gel will suck it up I would also spray the socks with silicone every year or 2
The first thing that came to my mind when i saw this was the movie "Major League" when Pedro Cerrano says "Hats for Bats, Keeps Bats Warm, Lol, Good video Matt, have a great Day Buddy
I feel like their basic function isn’t fully understood, or at least I don’t… silicone does bit by itself absorb moisture, but silica does. So it seems like the purpose of the sock really is just to provide an external physical protection (dings) that doesn’t absorb the moisture like a cotton sock would. So basically the gun would be experiencing the same humidity and moisture of the environment, which may be perfectly fine. A lot of old guns in great shape have just been in the corner of people closets their entire life and look fine. But when we use the sock it seems important then to still at least pay attention to the condition of the air around it. Am I off base here or does anyone else know more about the science of the sock? Guess I could just call one of these companies and ask…
I bought one of those small electric dehumidifiers (actual electric dehumidifier not desiccant or rod) and it works well. I just did a video review of the $30 device. Pretty good stuff. ruclips.net/video/rHjJUFpz2-s/видео.htmlMoisture is pretty bad where I am close to the coast of Virginia and is a constant battle.
You sock so well...I have a few...Still making up my mind..But I do know they protect against those every day dings and dents....Nice to see you last night honey ,Hope all is well....Thank's I mean BOOM!!!!!

Do you apply any oil on them before put them in,?
@@atam4023 definitely, the salt in human sweat is corrosive

I have a rod and also keep a couple of those little reusable de-humidifier boxes.
I have had my mosin nagant in one of these since 2013 and has worked very good no rust. I bought an other one for my winchester 94ae in 357 mag.
I like them. Seem to work good

First time I seen or heard of a gun sock. We always cleaned our guns whether they needed it or not back home in the south

Excellent info for humid climates. Thanks

Sock is longer than this super long rifle so I'm not sure what you mean?

Odin the German Shepherd oh man there is a joke here I could say but I better not. Lol
lol, rust and dry woman
She may be dry because you do not turn her on..
I never tried one, but my guns are jammed in the safe might be a good idea

I've done the Gun Socks since I built my 1st black powder because, as you know, BP collects moinsture
Coincidentally enough I too keep my Mosin in a GUN-SOCK, never had any probs... as long as the environment is not too heavy with moisture....
TheDelawarePatriot excellent
