Advanced Downrigger Stacking Techniques for Kokanee
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 июл 2014
- Mike Carey demonstrates how to stack downriggers with multiple lines while fishing for Kokanee salmon.
Stacking is a great way of running two lines on one downrigger cable, but did you know there is a technique that allows you to keep fishing your deep line and resetting your shallow line when it gets bit? Check out this great technique as we fish Merwin Lake for Kokanee. Please forgive the loud main motor, the kicker decided to take a vacation that day!

How the hell do you troll all day with that loud motor
Great video Mike! I am going to have to try that out! Thanks
Another neat benefit of the stacker system we're showing is that you can also use it to make adjustments to your shallow line without moving your deep line. So let's say you see a fresh group of fish ten feet up from your stacked line, but you don't want to move your deep line. With this stacking system you can reel up and down along the cable without disturbing the deeper line. Often you'll see your stacked line on the depthfinder so you'll know exactly where it is.
Gr8 info, thanks 😊
*We tried this out finally yesterday and it worked awesome! **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s we put it on our 16 foot aluminum boat and trolled with it. We didn’t catch anything but it was still fun and worked awesome! Can’t wait to use this baby again and hopefully reel in a big ole fish! Very easy to install and set up.*
Get a 4 stroke kicker!!
Done
Awesome, hope you troll with electric now! We get 8 hours on 21ft boat with 3 x 36v 100ah on a terrova...
Have you ever tried the shasta tackle shuttle hawk? This is what I like to use because when a fish hits the top line the hawk returns to the surface and is waiting for you to clip into it again. If not I suggest trying one out. Think you will like it.
I haven't. I've heard mixed reviews on it, glad it works for you.
Northwest Fishing Reports I'll second the thumbs up for the shuttle hawk. If you are interested in how it works, I just put up a video about it. Check out my page if you are interested in how I rig it. Great video by the way.
I have lost a few shuttle hawks they dont have a way of keeping them on the line . I have to push a piece of power egg in the gap where you put it on the downrigger line
What size drift sock were you using? 32" ?
I believe that would be about the size
What other species of fish are in Merwin lake?
No winsch on that downrigger?
Takes a few secunds to pull up the wire to the surface.
old boat, have em now!
Whats with your motor, sounds like it wants oil
+Capt. E Alford unfortunately that day my kicker was acting up and we had to troll with the noisy, old, big motor.
That was a squawfish not a northern pike minnow. Just saying.
Same thing.
seems like 3 or more lines to the same fisherman is illegal and you need to explain to the people that pike minnow are junk fish and to do that to a trout or foodfish is also illegal
Yes, 3 or more lines to the same fisherman is illegal. In this video we have two anglers and 4 rods (two rod endorsement is legal on Merwin). As to the pike minnow, I made an assumption that people are aware what a pike minnow is, and it is legal to use them for bait to catch lake trout. No one mentioned using a trout or foodfish as bait. Maybe I need to do a "101 Things to do with Pike Minnow" video, LOL. Thank you for your comments.
Sorry bout your explanation is terrible, using the same verbs for different equipment.
