    For publication
    I chauffeured Dean and Joy Stockwell when he was nominated for his Academy Award in ‘89.
    Dean was interviewed after the Awards in front of the Auditorium where he was asked, by Channel 7, “How do you feel about being rediscovered?” Dean took personal offense and laughed at the word rediscovered. He later told Joy, in the limousine back, “I never knew I was ‘undiscovered’!"
    Entertainment Tonight followed us from his front door, to the awards, but since he didn’t win they broke off. Cheep Shot! Funny, Joy needed a restroom along the way where I found a clean off route facility.
    Entertainment Tonight followed us to the building and then followed Joy up the stairs where she locked her door, put her stockings on, then came out asking them if they saw enough through the keyhole. (There was no keyhole of course, but I think it drove her point into their snoopy notebooks & cameras.)
    Dean and Joy were wonderful, gave me a ticket to the Board of Governor’s Ball, went to Spagos for the after party (where they introduced me to Teri Garr, Tom Cruse, Al Pacino, Frank, Sonny, and so many more), then to their home.
    Of the countless people I've chauffeured in my 30 years, I absolutely love this couple and their presence. I was so upset and tear filled to hear Dean passed away this year. He is a Hollywood and Film Legend. !
    All my personal best and warmth to Joy (though divorced from Dean, I know she's devastated) , his daughter Sophia, and son Austin. If you need my help, please call on me.

      You've won a 📌!
      I've heard Sean Connery talk about Spagos in the past but never knew it's actual location.
      Well done Sir on having a great career driving the stars around.
      I'd love to interview you one day, only if you wish too, of course, just for some fun antidotes but I won't ask who was the worst etc so not to tarnish your reputation!
      But thank you for watching my tribute video to Dean.

    He did a fantastic job as Dr. Yueh over 35 years ago, to which I hope that over time he realized that Dune 1984 became a huge cult classic, which is a redemption of the movie in & of itself. He also did a great job in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica. And of course, in Quantum Leap, where he won awards for his acting. I think the earliest film I have seen him in was in the 1960's Psych-Out, yet he had been a child star long before that. That is 7 decades worth of a career. And to top it off, he died peacefully in his sleep, rather than violently & suddenly, much like those millions who died from Covid these past couple years. RIP. The only thing that I wish should have been done much earlier is the talking of continuing Quantum Leap which Bakula & the original directors were thinking about this past year. Sometimes you gotta pick up the pace & not put things off or be lackadaisical, because you never know the future.

    • @Moochtv
      @Moochtv  2 года назад +1

      Well said.
      I need to certainly do more, especially in new year.
      I always blame working nights holding me back but perhaps it's just me.
      I still prefer Dune '84 to the recent one, even its a bit cluttered and rushed at the end.
      The tone of that film is mainly humourless, the dune clip I put in this video, shows some humour and warmth in Dean's Dr. Yueh, when talking about sandworms, almost like he ad lived line and made Kyle giggle.
      Which makes it more impactful when it's revealed he's the traitor.

    • @robwebnoid5763
      @robwebnoid5763 2 года назад

      @@Moochtv ... I've seen lots of comments who have also said they prefer the 1984 version. I have not seen the new Dune yet, but based off pics & clips, there is a nuance the Lynch version seems to have done right & that is the "orangeness" of the deep desert sand & the sky above it. Using this orange filter, it subliminally evokes a saturated near-choking environment of spice dust that you can't get away from. The new film only shows the sand as mainly drab tan/yellow color, which looks like any desert on Earth & yet it's not supposed to be Earth, it's some exotic desert planet 300 lightyears from here. In fact, if you take a look the original Herbert softbound book cover art of Dune (all the books), the main color is orange. I discovered this difference myself & no one else told me about it. And yeah I read the novel back in 1983, not aware there was a move adaptation in the works at the same time. I also commend the Lynch version because it was the first adaptation to have gotten greenlit, when there were 2-3 times before it, including Jodorowsky's, that got shot down. If you want to see the most definitive cut imho of 1984 Dune, try the "Spicediver alternative redux", upscaled to 4k resolution. It's right here on RUclips, shhh, if you haven't seen it yet. 3 hours long. Some have said it holds up to the Villeneuve version, even if the 2020 version is only the first half of the story (part 2 in 2023-24). Plotwise, the Spicediver cut is also much closer to the novel than the original theatrical release. There is another competing cut from Michael Warren, which I haven't seen yet, closer to Lynch's vision than Herbert's, but some say it's not as good as Spicediver's. Search yt for "dune spicediver 4k". Anyway, I myself gotta pick up the pace too, next year as you said, heh. Dean had a relatively long life & he did it without relying on melange. :)

    • @Moochtv
      @Moochtv  2 года назад

      In new Dune, too many 'music video' slo-mo shots of Zandaya , who shouldn't be in Part 1!
      I agree. Colour filter helped. The test on Paul in original 20 times better than new one. I'm not saying new Dune is bad. It does have some merit (which will be improved on, when part 2 comes out 2024) including Gurny but the costumes and music in Lynches version is way better, especially in wide-screen HD

    • @Moochtv
      @Moochtv  2 года назад

      Oh I'll.look onto those cuts. Thanks

    • @robwebnoid5763
      @robwebnoid5763 2 года назад +1

      @@Moochtv ... Yeah I will reserve more judgement on the new version, if & once I see it. But I think you are right about the costumes from the first impressions I've seen of the new version. It seems the Lynch version were more colorful, including the sets & backdrop surroundings. All done without CGI. Apart from the Spicediver 3-hr cut, you should also watch the "The Making Of Dune [HD]" 1984 & "Impressions Of Dune - Documentary 2003..." documentaries, as well as "Sean Young filmed the making of Dune with David Lynch 1983", all here on yt. Also check out the channel, Quinn's Ideas, for any & all of the Dune universe. He has guides of the 30-thousand year timeline summary of the Dune canon. It's fascinating to me, because I do not have the patience anymore to read the rest of Herbert's Dune novels (or any novel) & would rather have the short Dummies plot summary version. :)

    He became a lost link to old Hollywood. He acted against Errol Flynn and Lionel Barrymore!

    If we grow our selves every 7 to 10 years theres a way to not age.some how we have to come up with a way of making these cells last longer stronger it is because of this growth smoking and what we do in life that effects the new cells.
    I sit thinking every day about things like this.didnt finish school or go to college.there has to be something natural or not that we can put into our bodies to help with new cells and make them better.

      Thank you. I do love the hold my hand theme from Dune so it seemed apt for this edition.
      Probably the saddest I've felt post edit of a celebrity passed since Sean's connery and lock.

    I've heard him complain that he worked so much as a child...If he wasn't working in a film...did he get to just stay home ?
