Thank you. I really enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes pictures... It's crazy they didn't track those down for the DVD release.
Oh my gosh! Allison, thank you so much for posting this! My mom introduced this show to me and my brother. The night we first watched the series finale, we both cried big bitter sweet tears. Maybe I kind of prefer the subtlety of the footage they went with but this is really fascinating. Ugh!!! The feels!!!
No thanks, I want to hear everything! Oh my Crom! That's so cool!
RIP Dean Stockwell! What a great actor.
oh my gosh yes.. I was crushed to look him up and find that he had passed away... I've seen him in other things but he will always be Al in my heart. R.I.P. Dean aka Al
I do not know if you were ever into the show Star Trek enterprise. It was the Star Trek that featured Scott as the captain. They had an episode that reunited Scott and Dean. It was absolutely wonderful and I’m so glad such a reunion happened.
@@timlove1 That's a good catch. I don't think I spotted it when I watched Enterprise.
@@timlove1 I'll check that out~ Thank you❤❤
When Quantum Leap first aired in March 1989, I was 3 months away from my high school graduation (so now you have a pretty good idea as to my age!). I made a point of writing down the title and timeline of each and every episode in a journal as I have always been fascinated with time travel and multiverse theory and QL covered both (because if you think about it, whenever Sam altered the past he was actually creating a new universe of possibility which either erased the old timeline or left the old timeline in a now inaccessible parallel universe, if you follow Back To The Future Doc Brown's logic). Since most if not all the episodes dealt with actual historical events I learned alot more about history. Anyway, I really enjoyed the show but like everyone else was confused by the abrupt ending. So it's nice to know that Sam made it possible for Al to remain with his one true love and now one and only wife (before Sam intervened, Al had been married at least 5 times) and it's touching that now Al would go on a presumably controlled leap through time (by 1999 I assume they would have solved the random leaping problem) to find and bring Sam home so that Dam would become an uncle to Al's kids and also for Sam to reunite with his own wife. Would be great to shoot this as a stand-alone TV movie while both actors are still alive. Sorry for rambling on but I REALLY LOVED this show!!
I just now stumbled onto this Video about this possible Ending because of the new Remake of QL .. .
The series will never be the Same without Sean Stockwell .. .
That is a Real bummer !!!!!
I am a HUGE Fan of Time Travel Movies and a big Dean Stockwell fan also .. .
If they could have made a final tv movie, it would be awesome, as both actors had aged naturally. Now, we can only dream about a reunion... unless the producers cross the line and create Al with CGI.
I agree with you. I hate that some if not a lot of good shows ended abruptly and never gave a definitive ending. At least Qunatum Leap did but still didn't do the viewers justice.
I am pretty sure there was at least one episode where the influence from a previous jump was notable.
The thirteen year old child that wept for a solid week because of that title card smiled at this. Thanks for sharing. :)
(I had read the extended ending before and always assumed it was fanfic.)
I can’t hear Georgia on my mind without thinking of the last scene in quantum leap. As someone that watched every episode when they first aired I was very upset that Sam never told Beth about Al. So when Sam went back and made it right I was so happy! but then immediately also so sad he never went home😭 quantum leap is one of the greatest shows of all time and I hope they make the movie one day, I hear they have a script for it. They need to make things right that once went wrong! 🙏#bringsamhome
I can’t hear the song Georgia On My Mind without thinking of Designing Women. Especially not if song by Ray Charles.
So great to see Al with a very different, happier, and more centered vibe.
Congratulations! It's always super cool when it turns out that there's more to discover from a property that people had thought had been completely analyzed already. :)
I really wish we could have got a Season 6 of Quantum Leap: Al leaping through time to find Sam would have been amazing. At least we have these amazing find to show us what could have been.
Who would have been al's guardian
The series got better with every season. The part with the evil leaper was great, but all the great ideas came too late. I think first in the 4th season like the double episode with Lee Harvey oswold, hanging out with celebrities like Marilyn, or as AL and Sam were mixed one episode.. Or Sam was AL in younger days... These episodes were rare... But really great because they flipped the usually plot
@@billwhite515 - Well, if Beth knew about Sam and the program, maybe she could have been? I mean, even if Al had the same sort of amnesia Sam did at first, she wouldn't stop fighting for him the same way he wouldn't stop fighting for Sam...
@@Mister__Jey wasn't there an episode whe Sam gets into some kind of stand off with a Jackalope or something? I seem to remember that from when I was a kid but cant didn any references to it.
That would’ve been a better spin off. An entire series just about Al trying to find Sam and bring him home like he was unable to do in Quantum Leap.
Oh my God, preserve these in Formaldehyde (not literally, of course) or something. Never lose these. They’re more valuable than nearly anything ever made.
^This!
Nearly 25 years have passed , i know because the last episode aired when I was being born. I freaking love how much you love Quantum Leap.
Prestidigitoreum maybe Sam leaped into you.....
Have you been seeing things, can't remember things..you might be a Leaper!
That "That's what friends are for" with the picture on screen .... wow, too much feeling.
Whoa!!! Not a clickbait title at all. Very impressive!
I remember watching the finale the night it aired (I was a freshman in high school). Bittersweet no doubt. And now, after all these years, to catch a glimpse of what happened after that final leap effect...super cool.
As others have said, congrats on the great find, and thank you for sharing it with the rest of us.
25 years since the show ended, Wow I wanna leap back to the 90's
Thank You so much Allison. For years since my childhood, the QL finale has really bothered me. As a ten year old kid, I cried that Sam Never came home. The fact that there was a scenario in which All went after him, actually makes me feel a lot better... Like if I could leap back to my younger self, and show him this alternative ending, It might have saved me from a tragic misanthropic existence, that I still struggle with. Indeed, if the multi verse is real, there must be a version of me who did see this ending, and could be a better man for it. Thank you from the bottom of my ten year old heart - Shane Shank
❤
Yup yup yup 💝
I think a lot of us wish we could leap back to our younger selves and show ourselves this ending.(I wasn't sad that he never returned home; I was furious, and for many years, I refused to rewatch the show.)
@@documentmedic9385 Haha, I wasn’t sad because I knew that after all that adventure with Al, and sacrificing everything for him, Sam would no longer identify with his old life. It could only be onwards from there. So for me it was cool, and I totally understood God’s point that we are in control, it meant that Sam was “at home” doing what he wanted to do, leap. But it did feel a bit abrupt as an ending, true…
From one QL fan to another, thanks for sharing this, Allison!
It makes me happy that Al is married with four daughters.
He always was a ladies man. Ha, ha!
Al is... Married with children? I smell crossover.
I find weird that no remembers that Sam Beckett has a daughter also trying to find him, and works in the facility where Sam Beckett worked.
CavemanJesus4Life He does?
@CavemanJesus4Life Indeed.
I had read about how they planned to take the show into the future if they got another season, but I missed the part about Al leaping after Sam. That could have been a really interesting direction for the show. What an awesome find, and just like the lint portrait, it couldn't have wound up in better hands.
I grew up on QL. I still remember watching the last episode when it aired, and how heartbroken kid me was when i saw the last card telling us that Sam never returned home. Now, at first I hoped it was something they'd retcon in a tv movie down the line somewhere. Then, as i aged and ((hopefully) matured some, I began to accept that Sam was the one who made the decision to Leap that first time without knowing the consequences. Maybe it was the better fate for everyone, even Sam, that he was just a wanderer after that (with a touch of "you can never truly go home again" thrown in to ice the cake).
When I heard writer for the show at a Creation Convention in San Diego like 15 years later explain that they wrote the end that way because of studio bullshit, it entirely deflated the artistic depth i had gleaned from the original ending. As I grew more fond of the "Death of the Author" viewpoint in how I consumed my art, the silliness of my reaction became apparent to me. Anyways, really appreciate you sharing this find with us!
I totally hear ya! Screencapping this… After experiencing some things of my own, I came to understand that we cannot go back and that’s totally fine; it’s also the way of shamanic initiation to transcend the original “safe” identity, sacrifice it and take on the new, expanded perception of the multidimensional.
It was a bit sad at first, because it’s still a form of “death” that one intuits there in the process; but once I integrated the expanded perception as “myself” also (without having to explain myself to others “back home”) it was indeed better.
I truly believe that artistic messages often get communicated from “above” somehow, or from the collective consciousness, and as a result can completely go over the producers’ heads. It can also be that some people fear being perceived as “too deep” or sensitive, and tend to explain things by resorting to commonplace. I am super-acquainted with that “deflation” feeling, but it’s really on us to learn to trust ourselves and our gleanings, regardless of what others say.
Thank you for sharing Alison, it gives finally gives me some closure on the end. An after 28yrs I still cry to the end. Just next time I know that Al is gonna go after him. God bless Alison, an thank you again
Mind equally blown... I always cry at the end of the series finale, whenever I watch it. And always had a sneaking suspicion that that couldn't have been ALL there was to it. But, I'd never read up on it. So, all of this is news to me!
Yeah. If you have seen the Simpsons episode, where they have a stereotypical 1990s, "hip and extreme" youth living with them? Well, that was essentially what the network wanted for Quantum Leap.
sXeblues I got choked up at Shock Theater (remember he got shocked at the end when he was Jimmy "give Jimmy shocker, and Sam/Jimmy was crying? I choked up because I went through 8 ect treatments in my 20s so I empathized with him) and The Leap Home episodes, when he leaned into himself before his brother went to Vietnam, and the one where he leaps into Al. It was funny but so sad at the end.
If any series deserves a proper closure, it's QL.
The Man From Krypton Most definitely agreed, on all counts... The emotional depth of this show was tantamount. It broke me up quite a few times, all of those you listed, included.
Eric O Sullivan Sadly, if I've seen that episode, I cannot remember it. I haven't watched the Simpsons in ages.
I can remember cheering at the TV when he first leaped home...loved those 2 episodes.
I'm 37 currently and was 6 years old when quantum leap premaired. I just today remember the show because a friend was talking about sliders (another 90's sci) and you video was a great find. I'm feeling so nostalgic thank you for your dedication to the fandom and bringing fans this stuff and archiving it.
Wow! Thanks for sharing! I can definitely tell you I'm just as excited as you are about this discovery! Congratulations on an amazing purchase
This is a super awesome find, and now I am REALLY wishing I could find something like this for some of my favorite, older shows. And also, bonus Arsenio Hall. That is a good day right there.
Thanks! :D
Tbh…you two both sound a like, and until I saw her (first watched different stuff from Allison that didn’t show her face), I thought you were the same person 😅😂😂😂😂
This is the coolest thing I've heard for a very long time. Thank you so much for sharing. :)
I haven't thought about Quantum Leap for a long time, but watched it without fail week after week and year after year. My friend's family and I were all together for the final episode with popcorn and when the last scene ended we were all stunned. My friend's mom cried, "No! How could they do this to Sam? How could they do this to us?"
We all felt let down and prayed there would be a TV movie special to wrap it up properly, but of course it never happened. Thanks for sharing the stills!
This is amazing! So glad you found these! I wish we knew more about the scene but even this little bit helps ease my poor Leaper heart about that bittersweet end to the series.
Your excitement is contagious. Love this video.
Your exuberance for what you've found is truly heartwarming. You've inspired me to start buying old cans of film from my local antique stores.
Great find and excellent video. Thanks so much for taking the time to put this together.
This is so cool. :D It's awesome that you're now making discoveries about your favourite shows too. Plus, I've always thought there was a distinct lack of Quantum Leap on Movie Nights, so it's good to see some more videos about it.
This is awesome! I think i read somewhere that the change didn't keep them from being friends, but it's great to have it confirmed since they met with Al attacking a vending machine after a bad divorce or something.
BesterP12 I think Beth made sure to preserve the timeline and made sure they met, because if Al and Sam never met, Sam would have never leapt in to tell her about Al being alive, thus creating a paradox.
So in a timeline where Al is happily married, he's not attacking a vending machine out of frustration and rage, but doing it because THAT DAMN SNICKERS BAR....or Al just likes hitting technology he doesn't understand like he does those Ziggy handhelds.
Thanks for all this info, and for posting the photos!
Thanks Allison! This is the sort of use that social media and the internet should be put to. Happy vibes right back!
Great find. One of my favorite shows. Ending could've been way better I always thought. Thanks for showing us what could've been.
Awesome find Allison! It brings me a lot of joy seeing people who find new things about something they love look so damn happy. :D
Thanks for this! The title made my jaw drop, I feel like I've waited all my life for this discovery! lol
This show definitely needs a reboot or a new quantum leap. Brilliant show.
Its happening

Quantum Leap is a freakin awesome show, I'm so glad I found someone on RUclips who loves it too!
Your enthusiasm is quite infectious! Congratulations!
I was as enthusiastic about finding those lost nuggets of Quantum Leap history as I was watching your excitement about the show. I've rarely seen anyone else so passionate about it!
This is so cool! What an amazing find, thank you so much for sharing this!
Nice find, well done! I always enjoyed Quantum Leap as a child when they showed it on BBC2 here in the UK in the 1990s. I must revisit it as an adult some day.
Thank you for sharing those pics. It was really exciting to see they actually filmed something past that bummer ending.
grew up watching this show broke my heart he never got back home. Thanks for showing what you found just AWESOME!!
The question now is why didn't they go for that ending, and rather opt for the depressing one instead.
Hello you
Probably because they thought they were being "artistic" or something. Or they may have shot multiple endings so that if they got leaked to the public, no one would know which was the "real" ending that they planned to use.
Well, they probably wanted to not lead people on with hopes of more to come when the show had been cancelled.
@@Kohntarkosz No, they just didn't know the show was being cancelled. The call came ater filming was done. They had one week left before the epsode was to air, so they hastily re-edited the footage. It was a rush job.
I kind of liked the doing good for the belief in it. I felt it was true to Sam's nature.
The way Al described how time travel works in the Quantum Leaps pilot reminded me of the Tenth Doctor explaining Time in "Blink". You know: Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey... stuff!
It's string theory! Except for some reason you almost never Leap into your own life, rather into other people during your lifetime...
Wasn’t it more Eleventh Doc with the timey wimey shit
Recommended by the RUclips algorithm. So glad I clicked on you! Big fan of QL from back in the day and this bit of news is STUNNING.
I just love the joy and excitement you bring to videos, Allison. I genuinely hope that reflects your real-life happiness. 😊
I'm so happy you posted this. I've been a HUGE fan since it first aired. What a fantastic find. I know a lot of people weren't happy with how the show ended, and you nailed it when you said it was bittersweet but I just accepted it as it it was.
It worked as an ending because it's such a selfless Sam thing to do - knowing he can go home but chosing not to as there's more work to be done. And with the upcoming follow-up series, we may get even more details.
No TV show means more to me than Quantum Leap and as such I thought I knew everything there is to know about it. To discover there was a lost ending that NO ONE KNEW ABOUT for all these years is a quite an insane revelation. When I clicked on this I thought you were going to show me a still of a deleted part of the scene in Beth's house, not a GENUINE extension of the episode. I'm blown away. Congratulations.
It's a shame that we'll never see this though. Universal destroy archival footage, its just what they do and everyone knows this. If they don't do it themselves then fires do it for them. Furthermore with Quantum Leap being one of those cult shows that's JUST not quite mainstream enough to warrant big budget supplemental features it's safe to say your discovery is the best we'll ever get.
It was the best ending bc even now we all want Sam to get home .
Fans still feel it. We all wonder. That's what makes it cult. If he did get home it would end the good that Sam's doing and end any imagined further leaps.
It's not real though...😂
@@DA-qe8ir I see your point but no, Dr Sam can be “home” and still do the good work, because in essence the two states of being are one and the same (as he ultimately understands once he makes the final sacrifice for Al, leaving his old life behind, to which he had been clinging as a safe identity) - it’s all been suggested from the very beginning, that their Friendship is in fact enabling Sam to access his ultimate identity: the quantum Light Body, “as himself.” In other words, he’s now “at home in the Light Body” and continually leaping. Al going in after him, talking to God about it and willing to face the unknown, is just confirmation that Al is reaching that realization too, whereby he can transcend the safety he has created in his life.
I wanna cry. :))))
I am so glad you have this! I wish they'd done more with QL!
This is amazing. Well done you. Thank you for putting this up.
I obtained a copy of that final script at a comic con back before the internet was a thing. When I read it, I felt pretty much like you do in this video, because my mind was blown knowing what they had planned for the next season! I was a huge fan of the series and I loved the direction it was going to go in, before of course the premature cancellation. Anytime I've met a QL fan since, I've told them about the original ending because I just love the idea. Still do, it's one of the saddest TV cancellations for me. It's great that you found these photos, because while I've known about the ending for 25 years, I've never seen the images you provide in this video, so it's cool to know they actually did film some of this alternate ending. So thanks!!
This is a phenomenal discovery! I hope we find out more info on the finale. I miss the show so much!
I love your enthusiasm. I hope it continues to be an amazing year for you!!
Movie Nights so glad and excited I found this Channel!! I Am absolutely all in!
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU FOUND THAT ARSENIO PICTURE!!! This confirms what Arsenio fans have long suspected. As everyone knows, the final episode of The Arsenio Hall Show ended with Arsenio walking off stage, followed by a title card that simply read "Arsenio Hall never returned home". However, as an Arsenio super-fan, I notice that in the negative he is wearing the same suit as from that final episode, as well as sporting the identical haircut as his character "Semmi" from "Coming to America". In a leaked script, Arsenio leaves his talk show only to leap through time and inhabit the body of "Semmi" in the jungles of Africa at the beginning of the 1989 film, creating a sort of time loop effect. And this picture confirms everything!!!
COMING TO AMERICA FANS HAVE BEEN LIED TO FOR YEARS!!
SO THAT'S WHERE AL GOT ALL OF HIS SUITS FROM! I KNEW IT!
Now EVERYTHING makes sense again. I think.
But how will Coming to America 2 fit in? :O
I've heard rumors that there was an episode where Sam leaped into Arsenio. It was called "Leaps Get Bizzayyy!" No. Not really. That was bad.
Like she wolf of London you got me into Quantum Leap! I still haven't had a chance to sit down and watch it but it's definitely on my list and I'm still obsessed with it
So awesome of you to hold on to such treasures as photo negatives! I LOOOOVE Quantum Leap!!!!!
Great find. Was always a big QL fan from the beginning.
I never saw much of Quantum Leap outside maybe a few episodes, but even as a non-fan I think that this is pretty damn cool. If that leaked script you mentioned was filmed, I don't see why they ditched it, since it would have been a much more satisfying conclusion than a downer title card.
That's awesome! I also heard that there was supposed to be a sixth season and they would have gone more into the future. Al was going to be a leaper too
I'm not a Quantum Leap fan myself, but your joy and enthusiasm for you discovery has made me very happy on a day where I really needed it. Thank you for sharing!
Wow thats so great to find out more information on the ending after all this time! Quantum Leap is still one of my favorite shows to this day, thanks for finding and sharing this :)
that's tv archeology ! thanks to share that discovery!
fun fact: here in Italy, Quantum Leap was also titled with something that sounds like "A walk into time" :D
amazing find!! I hope one day the footage is found too
Wow! I had no idea any additional ending footage was actually shot like that. Thanks for sharing this. QL is just one of the best damn shows, ever. Way cool! 🙂
My older brother got me interested in Quantum Leap when they played the reruns of this classic show on tv. This is hands down one of the greatest sci-fi tv shows ever. Thank you, Allison! Scott Bakula is Dr. Sam Beckett!! RIP Dean Stockwell
That is an awesome find Allison!
I'm so jelly now knowing you have the stills for the lost ending. :D
Thank you for sharing and I think I would've liked that ending better than the one
I saw. It was like "Whaaaaaat? Reaaaaallly? ... damn it!"
But it is what it is. lol
That's pretty incredible - you should tweet the behind the scenes ones out at the actors :D
I just found your channel,Awesome!!! Thank you for existing!
So cool you joined the QL podcast, Lupa!!
That would’ve a great season six. A shame it didn’t happen. Congratulations on that amazing find.
Michael Kuzmanovski There were rumors Sam was going to leap into a baby and an animal, probably a dog among other strange leaps..Evil Leaper's dimension maybe?
Found you by chance what a GREAT find and have to subbed!!!!
same found by utter utter chance.
THANK YOU!!! My grandpa and I used to watch this show together when I was a kid, where ever his soul resides I hope he can see this.
Thank you very much for sharing these!
OMG. That's really something. Well done!
This would have been a better ending.
I love your enthusiasm for this amazing show. And wow, what a find. I think I'm due another marathon :)
It took 4 years for this video to find my eyeballs. This is awesome, you're awesome. Thanks for this 👍👍
I wonder why Don Bellisario just flat-out lied. Like, do you think he simply forgot it got that far? Didn't want people to press him for more about it? etc (Unless he just meant that the Al-leaping-into-woman ending didn't exist, and he didn't consider this bit when making the statement)
Given the obvious repeated changes to the ending.... cause it seems like they revised it 17,000,000 times all while shooting it... it could have easily been that they started shooting that leaked script, but changed the ending after shooting the first scene (what Allison’s pics show happened) so cancelled fully filming that version of the ending.
I'm thinking of legal reason, maybe?
This is crazy! It's so cool that you found this. I'm still kind of surprised that given all the shows getting revivals (Full House, really?) that Quantum Leap hasn't gotten a comeback on Netflix or something.
Don't encourage them. They'll get it wrong.
Probably, but a man can hope.
Since Sam leaped into Elvis and JFK, he can leap into Captain Archer and Special Agent Pride from NCIS NOLA! His memory is Swiss cheese after all!
I legit can't stand NCIS, but I'm always tempted to watch that one because BAKULA.
It took me about half the first season of Enterprise before I stopped waiting for the "Oh boy".
i never saw the show, but seeing you this happy about it is hype as heck
Thank-you SO much for sharing. I am praying that they finally make a Quantum Leap movie/TV special that really wraps it up. Thanks again!
I'm still hoping 25 years later they make one off episode that brings Sam home. But I know it would never happen
Sadly, you're right, it won't ever happen due to Dean Stockwell's health.
Rustbukkit J.
Is Dean ill
@Rio Bow - He suffered a stroke a few years ago, and although he's recovered from that, he's quite frail from what I understand.
The next Kung Fury movie... they should get Sam and bring him home. But he will be a Hitler dinosaur.
Netflix is our only hope
This is awesome, and your happiness is contagious!
Thanks so much for sharing this. I'm smiling so hard it's weird. What great photos!!
I loved seeing this, I hope you find more some day!
THANK YOU!!!! This was great!
This should be in the news.
Wow this super awesome. Im so happy you discovered this. Gives me better closure to the show.
I knew about the shot of the photo with the 4 daughters. I have never seen the rest. Thank you for sharing these negatives. I have to go watch my collection again.
Congrats on finding the lost ending to your favorite tv show, Allison.
Its a shame there's been no shows like Quantum Leap since it finished, because that and Doctor Who are some of the only shows ever that can do a completely different genre every week.
That's awesome! For you to find this after all these years is super cool!
Good Vibes, indeed! You have no idea how much I needed that... Thank you!
Hey, jean on jean was popular in the early 90s. I am still waiting for my powder blue denim shirt to come back in style. And my bolo tie.
A season 6 with Al being the Leaper and trying to bring Sam home would have been epic!
Thanks so much for sharing this. Explains a lot about how they were able to both complete the series but leave it open for a new season as well.
Thank you for doing this video. I am glad that we can still be talking about Quantum Leap even now.
