The mystery of this film has been solved thanks to Bill Wehr, of Elkins, WV.
The film was sponsored by the local American Legion and photographed by Amateur Services Productions of Akron, Ohio. It was a project for local movie theaters and most certainly shown at both the Manos and Hippodrome in downtown Elkins.
It was a project implemented mostly in the south (NC, VA, and SC) from 1937-1941 called “Pictures of Local People” with the catch phrase “See yourself in the movies!”
So, If you went to the movies in 1938 in downtown Elkins, maybe to see THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD or THE BIG BROADCAST with Bob Hope, before the movie started you most likely saw a Buggs Bunny Cartoon, a Three Stooges short, a News Reel and maybe even YOURSELF “in the movies”.
