@pandaangry1267 That is a narrow view of its utility, and while we don't agree, to each their own :) Though we do agree that no one should spend 4 years and $50k on almost any degree! Outliers like nursing excluded, of course.

Thanks for this, I'm looking into hacking a CS degree and so far I'm comparing WGU, TESU, Franklin U and SNHU. I will be transferring in credits from my useless Criminal Justice degree so I can hopefully finish quickly by also using sites like Sophia. I'm also a veteran and qualify for reduced tuition at TESU, FU and SNHU. Would love to consult with you guys and weigh the options for my situation.
Awesome! We would love to help :) Those are some solid options you’re choosing between. It mostly depends on what your priority is-learning, or the piece of paper. WGU will take the least amount of transfer credit but give you one of the better educations.
Computer based degrees are hard for me. I got my Bachelor’s and Masters in fields I’m passionate about. But Computer Science I tried so many times and flopped. I tell people don’t pick CS for money but do it for passion
I have zero work history, I have a diploma in Early Childhood Education from a college here in Canada. I’m looking to get into the computer science program or the bachelor of science in cybersecurity. Which courses should I take on Sophia and which online university would accept me. I need a university that accepts global students (I’m in canada)
It’s because they don’t have free elective sections in their degrees, so the only transfer credit you get from an AA is generally going to be gen eds. Unless you happened to complete an AA that had the same classes WGU requires in the major you choose. I’ve seen that happen once or twice.
Hi Cliff. I just came across your channel. Thanks for the info. I'm 53 and ready to finish my undergrad degree. I have a ton of credits from Brandman University and have my AA from Platt college. I'm having difficulty on choosing the online college that is best to finish my BA in business (while getting my HR certificates) and then find a college for my masters. Thanks for any pointers you might have.
When looking at the computer science program at wgu vs Thomas Edison which would be easier to complete? And does the Bachelor of Arts really make a difference compared to the sciences?
Bachelor of Art vs. Science really doesn’t hold weight, don’t worry about that part :) WGU would be easier because it’s more streamlined and there will be bigger communities for support for WGU. But both are excellent options :)
I have a question. If an university accepts certifications lets say CompTIA Security+. Must i do the certification exam for my credits to be accepted or i can complete using platforms like Oreally which is ACE accredited and skip the certification exam? Thank you.
I have a small question. After watching the entire video, I realized that the core logic is to transfer credits to a university to graduate, right? For example, if I enroll in courses at Excelsior University and transfer my previous 116 credits there, and then I only need to complete 4 credits at the university, does that mean I only need to pay for 4 credits and after completing the courses, I can get a degree :)
That’s the idea! But each degree has specific requirements that need to be met. So while you might have 116 credits to transfer, probably not all of those will directly apply. That’s the game we play.
@@CollegeHacked Do you have any high school diplomas to recommend? It can be accelerated because I want to apply for European universities. Thank you 🙏
I am Researching for computer science degree. I am non us student. Between snhu, Thomas Edison and Purdue global. which one is the cheapest and which one is the better educational quality.
Best one we know of is the Graphic Design and Media Arts major at SNHU. Unfortunately you end up with at least 15 classes at SNHU in that major, as art and graphic design just aren’t supported topics on the hacking platforms at this time.
Particularly in STEM situations, employers are rarely going to be picky about where your degree came from (other than the ABET distinction), it’s about what skills you can demonstrate. This is especially true for computer science jobs, where your interviews are largely coding challenges and/or creating a working project within parameters the employers provide.
That would be software engineering. Computer science is being flexable, Info tech is using tech to make a company function and networking, information systems is ... tech and information.
I did my bachelors at WGU in one term. Increase my salary by $40,000 in 6 months

They have some awesome majors I haven’t seen in CBE form before, but they aren’t a hackable school unfortunately :(

Another point for WGU, It's been awarded CAE designation by the NSA for its B.S. In Cybersecurity and Information Assurance program.

Can you explain why WGU treats an associates like one year and still requires 90 credits to finish a degree?

Typically if the cert is built into the course, you just get credit for having it already. Like an assignment you’ve already completed :)
