I’m surprised that the pass rate is so low. I just graduated with a BS in health science. I will say that the information in this video is accurate. In terms of difficulty, and I’m not exaggerating, rn school was about 5 times harder. It is definitely doable once you get the hang on how the homework assignments work.

I worked at Dell and I am doing it. My bosses are very encouraging and I am doing the last mod of my MBA which is the capstone. Really good experience for the past 2 years but it's not easy. 60 USD is really cheap. I recommend people who love challenges should give it a try :) As a working adult, it is really hectic. BTW, they are now on probation for their regional accreditation.
@pandaangry1267probation was not the right term. UofPeople is attempting to obtain regional accreditation through WASC. They have passed the initial review and are working through the required steps to receive full accreditation. They have 5 years to meet the requirements which is why the OP used the term “probation.”
They are working on regional accreditation. In the process, but it is a 5 year process. As a current student, pursuing a BA in business. Fantastic school. If you are a small business owner, which I am, FANTASTIC school.
Typically, the Accreditating agencies take that period of time to access said school UoP assessment started in 2021 so the agency visits and assesses over that 5 yr period before full Accreditation

As a UoPeople graduate I can agree with what you are saying, there are definitely pros and cons for this degree. They do accept transfer credits from Sophia, Straighterline etc. I have transferred over 20+ credits and was able to finish my degree in a little less than 2 years. I could have completed it in less time if I had known about the transfer option prior. But I am still glad I did it in such a quick time.

I just enrolled at UoP, I'm doing a master's degree in Advanced English; for a lot of teachers working abroad, UoP offers an inexpensive way to get that master's degree requirement that most countries have. I'm excited to learn! Even if you didn't talk about their master's degree, I appreciate this review, since I didn't know what to expect.
@@drjtrekker Hi, as far as I know, you can finish it at your own pace. I believe the most you can take is 3 courses at a time, which would mean you can finish it in maybe a bit over a year, but that's full time; I wouldn't recommend this if you're employed. The program isn't set, you can choose to take 1, 2, or 3 courses. I'm doing 1 at a time so it will take me a bit over 2 years.
I am currently working on my Masters of IT at UOPeople and I wanted to say thanks for this review. It really is spot-on. I think the reason why there are so few graduates is mainly that there are NO lectures and none of the traditional ways of learning offered by a physically attended university. Everything is online and the majority of the knowledge is shared in writing. So you have to be able to read (a lot). Likewise, there are a lot of writing intensive assignments. So reading and writing is a must. When I got my Bachelors at Sam Houston State University (Texas), I just attended college and took tests for the most part. It was easy. So, this is harder. This is my last term before my Capstone project and I hope to do well.
@@SeizrnUhie a capstone project is sort of the equivalent to a Masters Thesis. It is a semester devoted to a project. In my case an IT project where we have to create something useful that solves a problem. It is supposed to encompass all the courses you took in grad school.
The U.S. Department of Education only recognizes Institutional and Programatic Accreditation. The Department of Education eliminated the distinction between National and Regional Accreditation in February 2020. Also, University of the People is pre-accredited through WASC, which is a former regional accrediting agency. A decision will be made about their accreditation status in February 2023. They are currently accredited by DEAC which is an Institutional Accreditor.
I think what's really keeping "regional accreditation" in vogue is that most grad schools require it in the undergrad degrees they accept. And then businesses follow suit. Most students are trying to make their bosses or grad schools happy, not the DoE. Just my thoughts.
Yes, some graduate schools do look for it but in my experience, not many employers (aside from teachers/educators). I know plenty of people that are employed at the highest levels with degrees from formally nationally accredited schools. I don’t believe that most businesses even know that there was a distinction between accreditors.
Hi! How you know that the decisions for the WASC are coming in February? I want to transfer my credits from UoPeople to a regional accredited university but I’ve been reading that it is quite difficult to do it from a national accredited university.
@College Hacked I believe you have forgotten... Not everyone wants a job! Is this a great school for small business owners? Absolutely. As a person looking to build his online business, it would make more sense for you to potentially review based not only through the employee lense, but how this university, or any university can be of benefit when owning/operating a small business.
@@nat-tb7cg 1) Because WASC's website volunteers when their next site visits are (I believe that the next one is now in March 2024), and 2) WGU now generally allows transfers of national credits; there may be other regionally accredited universities that do this.
Well, this is sort of late for me. I’m staring my last semester doing my capstone project for my MBA, and it has been fantastic. I don’t know why people wouldn’t want to get an MBA specially if cost it’s not a problem. I have a coworker that did her MBA at UMass and when chatting she barely knows what I talk about from what I am learning. 😂 and she probably paid 5x what I paid, and I make more money than she does, at the end of the day it’s all about the value one brings to the market in terms of effectiveness not names of schools. There’s a saying I really like that I think applies here, it’s not about where you start but where you end.
There are people who think that getting a degree from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, NYU, John Hopkins, etc. will make them stand out or get better-paying jobs than others. Maybe or maybe not. I did my Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts at Excelsior University. I obtained about eighty college credits through equivalency examinations via CLEP, DSST, and Coopersmith Career Consulting which covered all four upper-level Psychology courses for my minor. Each upper-level psychology course only cost me 150 US for 3 credits. That is dirt cheap. If you know how to navigate online learning like me, you will not need a student loan debt to drag on for years, not to mention the frustration. I am about to write a book about online college degrees and how to graduate without any college debt
Each student is assigned an advisor, whom you can email and always gets back to you in a timely manner. There is also a program advisor who replies to your emails on behalf of your assigned advisor.
University of the people accept lots of alternative credits (Sophia)that can transfer to regionally accredited colleges. This can reduce cost for many students who can’t afford college. Many students report success with transferring their degree according to Reddit forum.
@@malcolmjelani3588 Employers accept nationally accredited degrees. States are even accepting them for teaching positions in higher education as well as grad school!
@rb3058 There's only one public Uni in Germany that is fully online - the Fernuni Hagen and there are no courses in English offered.. With other public FHs that offer online courses, you typically spend more money compared to a UoPeople degree it seems. But please correct me if I'm wrong.
Currently I hold 5 degrees including an ABA & BBA from UoP. My wife has a BA from GCU and we are both going back for our MBA degrees. You are correct in that there are pro's & con's. They have made great strides in the last two years which is why we are going back next semester.
man, first off thank you for such great and high-effort content! really really helpful and golden advice! hope this channel gets millions of subscribers, you deserve it!! of the online colleges that you know, especially those that seem to be very accepting of tranfer credits, which ones would accept a bachelors in U of the People, to get a masters there? I cant really afford even the cheapest ones now, but i know in 2 years i will (will be working in Australia haha), so my plan was to get my Bachelor's in UoP and then get a regionally accredited Master's.
First of all, thanks so much for your kind words! 🥰 We definitely dream of having millions of subscribers one day 😉 Second, UoP isn’t as free as they sound because of the final exam fee per course. That alone (with the transfer credit eval fee, app fee, etc.) means the degree will cost at least $3,600. For about $5.5k you can get a regionally accredited degree that will qualify you for just about any graduate degree you want :) Not many grad programs will accept UoP as your undergrad degree because they are only nationally accredited :(
I actually went here & the prices are really good. And it's actually hackable. I hacked my UoPeople degree &'it's easy to hack with any pf the five (Clep, DSST, StraighterLine, Sophia, Study, Saylor & any other credit transfer program). The credits can transfer in easily as electives. The only knock I would give is lack of majors.
The issue with the low graduation stems from the fact that most students are part-time, while graduation statistics account for four-year completion. Further, I've known students who were enrolled in specific CS courses because they already had a degree and wanted to refresh their knowledge. Still, these students did not intend to finish the degree because they were not fond of the idea of retaking all courses lol
@@MateDrinker33 When I was studying at UoPeople, there were no certificates at the beginning of my studies; moreover, the certificates don't have all major CS courses.
Not a horrible review for UofP. I always get kick out of how poorly national accreditation is looked upon. AP News recently had a story on the many students from [US] community colleges (which typically have regional accreditation) that couldn't transfer their credits into universities. It's all about the receiving school's policy regarding transfer credit. If you know where you want to go, find out what they will accept before you apply. National accreditation may be accepted as well as regional.
In Western Europe (Germany, Malta etc.) we have VERY AFFORDABLE online universities and Higher Education Institutes with REAL accreditation and the degress are valid in the whole EU and most likely the whole world. Why anyone studies at UoPeople? If you're lucky, there might be an institution in Malta like OPIT - Open Institute of Technology that recognizes a Bachelor's degree from UoPeople and enrolls you into a MSc course. In Germany, I know that UoPeople degrees are generally not recognized. UoPeople does not formally exist in Germany, and the university does not have an anabin entry.
In a question and answer session with the president, he said that the limited program options are on purpose , so more people can get the high demand jobs
I’m glad you say that! I’m interested in applying for their Computer Science master’s in order to break into the STEM/ IT field. Any thoughts? Thanks 🙏🏻
Can y'all grade Southern University of Utah, their online General Studies online with is $75 per credit in & out state fee? Three years to graduate total of $9,000 and they're regionally accredited.
I want others to know that I dont recommend University of People. The graduation is so low because the teachers dont get back to you until a week later and that is onky after you have to reach out to the advisor to then reach out to the teacher. So after all that its a 2 week process. Then after all that they only write one sentence and dont address all the issues. Its cheap for a reason. Also transferred credits is a joke. They said they would transfer all my credits but once you pay and are accepted they really dont. You can appeal it but appealing everything is a joke to. They really dont care about you to graduate. They just want the money at this point. If you dont get a scholarship dont go if you have to pay.
28% graduation. It's meant for those who have no other choice. If you can go elsewhere, then do so. If you have no other place to go ... then UoPeople is for you.
I'm getting close to graduating with a Master's in Education at UoPeople. I would say it is very affordable and quality-wise it is a good choice. Peer-reviewed part is about 50-55% of the overall grade. Reflections and group project is checked by the instructor. Most instructors look at what has been given to you by other peers. I had many instances when my grades given by peers were adjusted by my instructor (for a better grade). Tasks are interesting and make you really think and connect the theory they give with your personal experience. It is extremely hard to cheat or copy-paste from somewhere - the policy for plagiarism is VERY VERY VERY strict. If you are not ready to write 2-3 papers a week, reconsider your enrollment to UoPeople. Overall, I should say I enjoy learning with them. I feel like my views on education evolve and I get interested in those narrow questions related to education which makes me a better teacher. I am also a much better writer. Hope this adds well to the information presented in the video.
Have you had trouble finding a job as a teacher after university of the people? And what did you get your bachelor's in? And does it help you specialize or have a concentration as a certain teacher like could I study to be a english teacher or history teacher?
Is your bachelor regionally accredited? How will you navigate getting a teacher certification? Only Alabama, Florida and Arizona accept deac accredited degrees for teaching.
I had a terrible experience with UoP and actually hate it. The peer assessments reminded me of high school group projects, which I shouldn't have to do if I'm paying for the class. The only positive things were the price and the fact that it was completely online. Unfortunately, my employer doesn't offer tuition reimbursement for this university. I need an accredited college that allows me to work at my own pace and location. It feels like I wasted my money, and my advisor was unhelpful. Why do I, as the student, have to assess other students when the professor should be doing it? The coursework was easy, but the other students were too slow for me. I believe that if they eliminated peer assessments and discussion boards and made it a work-at-your-own-pace university, the graduation rate would be much higher, possibly up to 90%.
Thanks for sharing your experience, very informational. Sorry that you came out of UoP feeling it wasn’t worth it. If you haven’t already checked out Purdue Global, UMPI, and Western Governors University, they are great at-your-own-pace schools :)
You sound like a lazy student and very bitter by that. There is something we learned at UoPeople: Fixed Mindset vs Growth Mindset. Learn to take on challenges and adapt. It helps even outside college into your career. Not everything will always go your way in your career. Majority of UoPeople students have good review about the school. Personally, I did not like that peer assesment from the start. I didn't undertand why I should do it. Then I soon I realized it is a big part of UoPeople style of learning. If I didn't adapt to it, I would have struggled through the rest of the program. Then again I asked myself, why did they have it in the first place. I started engaging positively with peer assesment and I realized that I was learning things from the perspective of others adding to what I have learned. Engaging in responses also helped me solidify what I have learned into my memory. Soon enough I was the one posting promptly and responding at all the engagements I was getting. Finally it catered a big part in contributing to my grades.
Are you by chance planning to do a review of Grand Canyon University? I’m really on the fence about this one so would be very interested in your thoughts.
The thing that makes UOP great besides cost is also the thing that is killing them with the number of drop outs. That is: Other students. UOP accepts anyone which leads room for competency issues when peer grading.
I wish I would have seen this before I enrolled. My student experience has been terrible. From a complete lack of guidance from the teacher to a chatbot that kept telling my dob and email were not correct when they were trying to authenticate that it was me. They keep sending email reminders to pay for my assessment that is 3 weeks out, i get a email every couple of days. I already dropped one course and will not continue. I DO NOT RECOMMEND
You did not solve the issues, its the best school and i am currently a student. I email my instructors as well as my course adviser and i get replies almost immediately. Many students cant keep up.
You seem to have experienced some bad luck. I currently have 99 credits and 6 months away from graduating. Advisors are amazing and teachers are very supportive. Best of luck!
i have had the best experience with the school, I'm 1 course away from completing my first year in computer science. i'm sorry you havent had the best experience. all i can say is they dont offer the traditional way of learning where there is a lecturer in the class always ready to attend to questions, instead we tend to solve our own problems with the help of a lot of research and guidance from our peers. i Have never felt the need to contact my course instructor even in the toughest days at school I always find solutions on my own. there is nothing we can not get from the internet this days. i would say they do not spoon feed students over there, that can be challenging for some people, i know it was for me at first but now can literally learn by reading a book without any guidance.
I studied Computer Science at UoPeople and found the classes to be good. With seven years of programming experience, I appreciate the flexibility UoPeople offers. Traditional universities struggle to keep up with the rapid pace of programming and AI. Employers won’t wait four years for you to graduate, and by then, technology will have already evolved. For fields like medicine, accredited universities are essential, but for programming or business, UoPeople provides solid foundations. You can always pursue a master’s degree at a more prestigious school later. I’ve seen people without degrees working alongside Stanford graduates in the same roles, earning the same salaries-but without the debt. In the future, UoPeople could gain more respect as its graduates succeed. It offers a real-world perspective and prepares students to adapt, even if it’s not perfect. If you’re willing to work hard, UoPeople is an excellent option.
Their website says they are accredited by DEAC, which is considered a "National" accreditation, not "regional". This information is as of October 2024.

I would like to say this school is terrible, I sent my transcript then they replied with with "you need official or notarized official transcript" but when I went to University of North Texas website, to send my "notarized official" transcript they want to send it to a physical location because it is an Official transcript and can not be opened. I tried contacting their only source of communication and the chatbot redirects you from transfer credit to "about the college" and I would not recomend anyone to waste their money at this scam.

I’m from Vietnam and actually also an ESL teacher. You’ll be fine. Vietnamese companies just need to know that you have a degree. They would not know the difference between nationally and regionally accredited schools. You will need a CELTA or TEFL certificate to get a teaching job as well.

This is a viable strategy for some, but in general it’s going to be better to avoid the hoopla of trying to find a school who will accept and respect a UoP degree. Many employers also don’t consider non-RA degrees to be “real.” If it works for someone’s situation though and they feel comfortable, we are all for it!

Rumor has it that UoPeople is set to get their regional accreditation soon, so the distinction may be even more meaningless soon, especially with DoE's eliminiation of distinguishing between regional & national accreditation
There’s the letter of the law, and the spirit of the law. The sad reality is that even if they get it, their rep is pretty solid among people who know these school names. Right or wrong, it’s going to take many years before they are viewed as accredited. There are better, safer options!

If it's not accredited by one of the big 6, it's garbage in the U.S. In the U.S., federal and national accreditation means very little. It's all about the states and regional accreditation is overwhelmingly more important. I will consider them when they get regionally accredited.

I have checked the website and they have no masters degree in English language how where you able to enroll for such?
@@successphillips7583 My bad, it's Advanced Teaching, not Advanced English.

How is it so far?
Such an awesome account of your experience, thank you for sharing this! I bet you’ll crush it 😎
What is a capstone project?
@@SeizrnUhie a capstone project is sort of the equivalent to a Masters Thesis. It is a semester devoted to a project. In my case an IT project where we have to create something useful that solves a problem. It is supposed to encompass all the courses you took in grad school.
Wait do they not provide recorded videos to explain new concepts and topics? I am also planning to start the Masters In Information Technology
Thanks for your experience. Did you already complete your Masters. I am planning to enroll for Masters of IT for next session...
Thanks for the review. It makes me clear for a decision making process. Appreciated
Well said! A lot of times the main beauty of college hacking is the ability to quickly and inexpensively put a degree behind what you can already do!

There's only one public Uni in Germany that is fully online - the Fernuni Hagen and there are no courses in English offered.. With other public FHs that offer online courses, you typically spend more money compared to a UoPeople degree it seems. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

of the online colleges that you know, especially those that seem to be very accepting of tranfer credits, which ones would accept a bachelors in U of the People, to get a masters there?
Did you transfer yet or are you staying with University of the people?
@@missdesireindependance5194 after I completed my degree, I transferred to Eastern University to continue my MBA journey.

Makes sense!
The second reason you listed likely explains why the "Certificates" programs exist, lmfao! :D

A clever way of saying, "We want to keep our overhead low." I don't hate it though.
Well said
This is the strangest school, there are no staff, no phone numbers and no one to help you with any concerns. It's bizarre.
Exactly
Thanks so much@@CollegeHacked
THank You and they are VERY misleading about the Assessment of the Foundation Courses that they never told me about.
@sekhangati B_tch I have a PhD now... HOW?
Are you by chance planning to do a review of Grand Canyon University? I’m really on the fence about this one so would be very interested in your thoughts.
11:14 You meant to say they're only nationally accredited.
The thing that makes UOP great besides cost is also the thing that is killing them with the number of drop outs. That is: Other students. UOP accepts anyone which leads room for competency issues when peer grading.
Good point!
Absolutely!
@Carol MCs is their Master’s in Computer Science recognized by employers in the US (New York)?
Thanks 🙏🏻
Yeah, I'd probably avoid too. UMPI is a great back up.
i have had the best experience with the school, I'm 1 course away from completing my first year in computer science. i'm sorry you havent had the best experience. all i can say is they dont offer the traditional way of learning where there is a lecturer in the class always ready to attend to questions, instead we tend to solve our own problems with the help of a lot of research and guidance from our peers. i Have never felt the need to contact my course instructor even in the toughest days at school I always find solutions on my own. there is nothing we can not get from the internet this days. i would say they do not spoon feed students over there, that can be challenging for some people, i know it was for me at first but now can literally learn by reading a book without any guidance.
Thanks for the video!!!!!

how does it work? how much do you pay monthly? and how many courses you take per semester? thank you
You pay per final exam ($120), not monthly or by credit hour. The amount of classes you take is up to you!
Can you do Grand Canyon University
Yes! I will do that!
How to apply for a full scholarship?
Could you make a Video about Penn State World Campus?
i have a AS-T in business can i transfer all my credits for bachelors
It always depends on the school you're transferring to. They get the final say. I usually recommend people transfer to and apply to a few different schools and see what they get.
@@CollegeHackedwhat are those options?

So, they say their bachelor's are 4 years long, can you hack them? Is it possible to do them in one year?
Indeed :) www.uopeople.edu/become-student/admissions/transferring-credits/
@@CollegeHacked Thanks for the fast reply
@@CollegeHacked My dream has always been to move to US and getting a fast, not expensive, online degree there seem my only option to get a H-1B visa, so ty so much for the help!
@@sigma_philosophy Agree about WGU and UoP! UMPI does have the "Liberal Studies - Management Information Systems" major, which would touch IT and then allow you to fill the rest of the degree with hand picked classes in IT topics you wanted to learn about :) Or, Purdue Global has an ExcelTrack option in IT prebuilt :]
If it's not accredited by one of the big 6, it's garbage in the U.S. In the U.S., federal and national accreditation means very little. It's all about the states and regional accreditation is overwhelmingly more important. I will consider them when they get regionally accredited.
Might not be long. They are working on it.
I suspect UoPeople will have a flood of applications the second they get their regional accreditation.
@@CollegeHacked Do you think American College of Education grad school will accept a Master's Degree from UoPeople? I haven't called yet.
They are now partnered with Sophia
Anyone know a good university for construction management
WGU! :)
Hi, will I be able to study a master degree in Offline university in the US after the bachelor degree from UOP?
Thank you
It is unlikely, as UOP is not regionally accredited
Some universities accept uopeople credits. Many UoPeople former students started a REDICT page with the list of universities that accepted their uopeople degrees. There are a few local universities and international universities.
Hi, in the video you said I there was only one university that is better than uopeople, what is it?
Time stamp? I can’t find where I said it
Sir I have a question ...
Are university in the us or canada can accept bachelor degree from uopeople??
It's really situational and depends on the school.
My friend sent email to some university, the do not accept bachelor degree from uopeople. You need to repeat many courses.
Randol fyi: clep costs 93 as of today
We currently have ModernStatesDotOrg to deal with that.
@@MateDrinker33 praise God
I am a graduate of the university of the people, most of the things you are saying is not true, they are awesome, I got my bachelor degree in computer science, and I've been able to use it to get a lot of jobs, they are very very nice they even place me on a scholarship full time, maybe why you are not getting response from the customer care is because you're not a student, they are really really good
Glad you had a good experience!
Hello bro, please, how can I reach out to you?
I just got admitted into the program. Please can we use Instagram or LinkedIn or something like that?
Hi bro, please, how do I reach out to you?
I just got admitted into their CS program. Can we use LinkedIn or Instagram?
UoPeople certificate is national or international?
Not sure, but their bachelor's degree is nationally accredited.
I hope you're well.
I would like to ask if you can recommend any courses that can be equivalent to the following courses below from the University of the People:
1-Business Policy and Strategy 2- Quality Management
Unfortunately, I don't know off the top of my head, but we'd love to help you in a consultation: www.collegehacked.com.
Hello, how long does it take to get a bachelors degree?
That depends on how many classes you take at once.
Do you give consultation to international students?
We do indeed! :)
@@CollegeHacked how? Could you please elaborate on that or provide an email address? Thanks
@@NYCStateofMind7 Sure thing! You can sign up here: www.collegehacked.com. Or you can email me at clifford@collegehacked.com to learn more. :)
What is the cheapest college?
Idk, I think U of People is cheapest right now. Open University in the UK is a close second. Excelsior College is also an option but only if you transfer 90 credits.
Community colleges.
UMPI I think.
@@CollegeHacked byupathway is cheap
This university is not suitable for working professionals and its very difficult to score marks.
Then are no proper books and notes.
I’m looking into the BS in Health science to pursue a graduate degree in psychology. Will the credits transfer to a state university easily? I work full time as a caregiver currently.
No! Do not go to UoP if you want to go to grad school, their degrees are not regionally accredited. Maybe it won’t matter at some point in the future, but presently that still does matter.
University of the People is now partnered with Sophia!
But remains a cruddy school 😔
For anyone who is interested, here a list of recommended courses and UOP transfer equivalents from Sophia
I hate the peer assessment!
Local authority fully recognised her bsc in computer science
Where is local for you, and who is “her”? :)
name sounds odd, luckily i passed on it.
