Agree Dave. There’s a difference in putting 5 silver dollars in a slot machine and just pressing a button for a $5 bet. They are trying to desensitize us into betting more. I remember the paper cups of coins and the dirty fingers. Old school for sure!

After watching, I was inspired to go on my morning walk while the weather was still cooler (108 temp in Phoenix today) and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Not only separating us from our dollar. They are preparing for the digital currency and if we go to a digital currency the casinos are going to be the first to take a major hit I believe you will see casino doors shutting. I don't think people realize the control behind digital currency. Hopefully it never happens

The greatest solution is in a book called Pirate Money by Kevin Freeman. Saw him on a Steve Bannon interview. Texas is setting up a gold reserve. You buy gold (held there) but it is used like a debit card. Held in your account like cash, but it’s spendable gold. Thats how you stop a great reset-they need to control the money supply (dollars). No controlling your gold. Sorry if off the rails a bit, but highly recommend the book-it’s recent

I find that by actively paying attention to the machine while playing, it doesn't matter what they call it. Watching you give tips to make us smarter, we can combat these changes and control our playing experience. I use credit/debit cards almost exclusively, but at casino, I enjoy holding actual currency to play with and (hopefully) walk away with more! I don't think we can change the trend of digital currency, so try to find moments to enjoy paper/coin currency. The diminishing value of the dollar impacts us all, but being smarter while gambling ensures fun win or lose (winning preferred). Thanks for great talking point Dave!

I agree with you and you got me thinking about the speed at which we disassociate the money/credits. The old days of coin-in were much much slower (and dirtier lol...). It seems that in today's world, we can't be bothered to slow down and enjoy the experience. I play table games when I can afford the table limits, but I always consider the pace of play on a table vs. a slot. Of course, most likely won't hit a jackpot size bonus on a table vs. slot, but it feels like I can at least last a little longer and enjoy my time. I feel like self control is becoming more important overall, but disappearing at the same time.... Interesting topic.

Low roller here....very low.....never put more than $20 in a machine at once (I will add some of my free play, which is also very low). I only play ancient machines that are 1 cent only, 5 reels i coin play=25 cents. Max bet $5. Never bet more than $1.25. Only exception: The wild wild machines, min. bet 50 cents, I have hit bonus game pays of about $750 twice on 50 cent bet, and last month actually hit $1197 bonus run on 50 cents. Doesn't happen often, but it is possible.

And working a liquor store I see people having difficulty with using their Apple wallet or other forms of electronic payment because as you said we’re headed towards a cashless system. So I stay away from anything like that except with my debt and credit card. 😊👍🏻🎰

Yes, we cash out often. I’m the bank between me and my husband.
If we, as low rollers, hit a nice bonus round, we round it down to an even number and cash out. Set that aside and play our next bankroll $20.
Most of the time, knock on wood, we come home with some of our winnings. It’s never the same amount as our bankroll, but we bring what we can home and save it towards our next trip.
This last trip, we had $1200 each for 1 1/2 days. $3200.
Laughlin Riverside was very good for us. We had free breakfast buffet, was comped two free prime rib dinners. And used our players points for a nice breakfast.
We ultimately only lost $200 after playing and enjoying the slots.
We don’t always do that well. But at least we lose at a slower rate while still enjoying the games, the meals, and just getting away for a day or two. That’s usually enough for us.

Short casino math lesson. For dollar conversion, on pennies take off the last 2 digits. 2c double the number then take off the last 2 digits. Nickels, half the number then take off the last digit. Dimes, take off the last digit. Quarters, divide by 4. 50c is half the number. Everything else is a slight variation (20c is double dimes). 50c is actually the first part of nickles.

If I'm traveling to Vegas (for example)...I usually get casino credit (I know most people hate this - but hear me out). I do not like carrying $5,000 - $10000 in cash while I'm flying...That money goes into my 'Gambling Account' at my bank and it's not touched till I get back home from my trip. Upon departure from the casino after my stay, weather I'm up or down, I will put any winnings into my bank account while I'm at Vegas - or another place. If I'm down for that trip, then I just payoff my casino credit when I get home.....

  • @tkell31
    @tkell31 Месяц назад

I think most machines allow you to convert credits to $s on the screen. I know I do it on the games I play. Had an interesting exp in AC. First day of a four day trip I got up 2k real fast. Over the rest of that day and the next gave it all back. Just lost at everything I tried. Finished the trip even and was left wondering if there was anything I could have done differently, other than just not playing, to preserve that initial win. Have to admit I felt pressure to play since the room was compd and wanted to play because I was going to be there. Kind of off topic, but 2K is a nice win for me so walking away should probably have been a bigger consideration.

I'd much rather still be able to use cash, instead of "credits" via CDBC's. Cash is much more private, and can't be controlled by the central bank/government. Sometimes I get a bit confused when playing slot machines that convert cash denominations to credits, but it is just something one has to be mindful of.

In the casio even classic reels obfuscate the value of money ($100 in a $5 Double Dimond machine only shows "20"). I applaud the "firecracker" game because you can switch to dollar amount for cash/bet/win. On Mystery Of The Lamp the dollar value is in tiny print (usually hidden by glare) above the BIG credit amounts for cash/bet/win. Digital wallet wise I only use the on property part (My bank is not connected). I'm newish in Vegas on Boyd rewards but only use digital at Aliante (need to sign up at each property). I go in wth cash and deposit digital instead of collect ticket. I like how can see my progress (up/down/even) after I've exhausted my bills. At that point my brain goes into ATM mode, and while i still put the usual ammount into each machine, having to PIN access more funds has me time to think if I want to stay on a particular machine.

I think the casinos would be shooting themselves in the foot in the long run with digital wallets. When credits are all that is there to play by people lose the sensation of the "Dollar" play/win. Credits make me think of credit for a loan and cash is associated with power and winning. Credits are also a way to lose track of actual cash value when you forget or fail to do the quick math to keep trac of the actual cash that you are working with in the machine. They have alrady strayed from what they once were as far as fun and the free comps to entice play. They are essentially saying, Hey come in and buy yourself something to eat and drink then have fun on the floor with our confusing credit machines...and dont for to tip!!...lol
