Thank you for normalizing meeting yourself where you are in depression. I needed to hear that today. I’m not even admitting how depressed I am because of how unproductive I am when I admit it. I’m going to admit it and try to cut myself some slack. Screw what everyone else thinks. 😭

100% big same. Well said! I’m gonna add some of these to my planner to help keep track of my mental health and also find ways to bring myself kindness in those moments and give myself a buffer when I feel good to set myself up for success. Meals in the freezer, lists of care ideas to keep myself on track, what I learned doom scrolling on TikTok! (Even if what I learned is that humans are silly and animals are cute 😂)
Thank you for this! When you were starting to talk about accomplishments, I said in my brain “getting out of bed… that *is* an accomplishment, when you are depressed” and then you said it, and I felt such… relief? Being not alone? Thank you. Thank you for sharing the not-so-pretty parts. From another A-type, first-born, recovering busy-a-holic.
Thank you for your vulnerability, honesty, and creativity. I'm in my mid 50's though I started late in life using journaling as a tool for my mental health, I share with others that it's never too late. I look forward to your videos. It's part of my self-care toolbox. ❤ Take Care!
Loved this one. My mental health has been super overwhelmed for months now that I decided I’m going back to school and basically changing my entire career, and your reminders to take things slow and give myself grace were exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks for this! 🖤
I have been go-go-go this whole back half of the month (working weekdays at a really cool job in one city, commuting daily on a 5hr round trip train ride for that, then working at my part time service industry job in my home city on the weekend) and I KNOW I’m going to crash once I stop later this next month. This has been super helpful as a pre-crash reminder that I can pick myself back up after this, and I’ll be fine. Thank you!!
Thank you so much. I've had my own mental health struggles lately. You are showing me it's ok to let go when we are not using our planner because we have no motivation.
I'm not great at quarterly planning/reviewing my personally life, but my new job this year has a big focus on quarterly tasks, so I've been adjusting for that. I started using smaller notebooks and swapping them out each quarter, so it's been easier to have a visual representation of like, the fiscal year, lol. I'm still working out ways to make the most of it, but if nothing else, I've discovered I like using a compact notebook for work.
This is my first year quarterly planning, and I'm doing it with my Sterling Ink CP, too. Q1 and Q2 I went crazy with the goals aiming for aspirational. Q3 I pared it back to what was likely to be possible and figure I can always add more if I accomplish the first goals. I'm finding it very satisfying to focus on accomplishing a few very specific projects that until I started quarterly planning had been "somedays" for many years. Thanks for your tracking idea for the individual month page for each quarter- I had no idea what to do with it for my first 6-month notebook. Goal tacking is the perfect solution for me!
❤ I added a margin to my common planner too. I’m loving going back through and thinking about my commonplace and planning, adding margins has been really useful. Also, an actual alphabetical index to index my commonplace notes has started well.
Thank you for being so vulnerable and honest about your recent challenges. I recently started watching and following your videos and have really appreciated and enjoyed them. I am struggling with planning in times of uncertainty. I recently finished a temporary job which had a short extension. I felt (and still feel like) I put things on hold or do not plan anything at all because I did not know if I would have a job or where I would me. As someone who like to plan, it has been real struggle for me.
yes yes yes on the time part!!! I just bought a magnetic calendar to put on my fridge so I can have a visual monthly with the family but still have my personal planners and agendas! and I love how honest you are. I was in the same head space this year. getting better slowly everyday! thanks for the videos!
I’m terrible at quarterly planning. To be fair, this is my first year doing it through. The best I’m able to do is look at what’s happening that month and try to pick one thing to focus on. Like Q4 is holidays and birthdays so I won’t be trying to pay down debt that quarter. I’m sure I’ll get into a flow. Sorry to hear about your May. I completely understand as I have anxiety/depression myself. I had a back injury at the beginning of June and I’m still not able to do much and it’s definitely catching up with me. Trying to stay positive or at least not negative. 😊 Glad you’re on the upswing!
May & June were super hard for my mental health. I was feeling a lot of the same feelings that you described in the video. I am improving because I noticed it, talked with my doc, and we made some adjustments. It's been a couple of weeks now and I am feeling better. Not the best yet, but much better headspace than what I was a month or two months ago. I really love your videos and how relatable and open you are. So, I thank you for this one. I was feeling like an uber failure and hearing someone else say they have had similar thoughts and feelings has really helped more than you know. ❤
wow! I didn't think I was in a planner funk but I guess I was - this was just what I needed to get some thoughts together on how I want to use my common planner in August and hopefully the rest of the year!
I really needed those info and affirmations on "how to try again with journaling and planing" and just trying over and over again is so important - thank you so much for both! I'll rewatch and reset in my (abandoned) planner then and it will be soo good
rach you are so eloquent and verbally process your emotions + issues so clearly! sorry you were struggling but glad you still found moments of joy and are feeling a bit better :)
Meeting yourself where you are is so important! And smaller goals are how to acheive big things! I'm currently using Makse for goal planning. But I'm really liking how your common planner has everything all in one! So I might have to stalk their 2024 drop date since I missed the pre-order window. 😅
Another amazing video ! My mental health is wrapped in stress so much so that I am experiencing excruciating neck into arm pain- I need this video as a reminder to do some real self care !!! I truly appreciate you and your content transparency. Did I hear you say AUGUST- my birthday month is HOBONICHI MONTH ?????? 🥰🤩😮
Thank you for being willing to be vulnerable on your videos. You have helped me more than you know. The book I’ve been obsessing over right now is Transitions by William Bridges. Again, thank you.❤
I stopped planning and updating my 5-year at some point in late May/early June due an injury/rheumatoid arthritis flare and... I missed it so much, but just couldn't write due to pain. Trying to get back into it and like you, leading with fun stickers (of which I have an embarassing amount) and writing really short entries (because handwriting still hurts). It's nice to be back, but also hard - I want to write so much more!
Your ability to write about and gain insight from unpleasant experiences and thoughts seems like a superpower to me! Reflecting on negative stuff really stresses me out, that's why all my reviews need to be short and simple, or else I wouldn't put the effort in. I have a set structure that helps me to control my anxiety without glossing over details. I hope you enjoyed Barbieheimer! I have yet to watch the Nolan one but Barbie was such fun! Do you share your thoughts on movies someplace online? I'm on Letterboxd and would love to see a somewhat familiar face there :)
Thanks for sharing and for the reminder to take care of ourselves! Your videos are some of the most insightful and informative videos in the planner community. I am learning a lot from your videos, you a such a great teacher! I have been researching planning for fitness/wellness/goals, so currently I do not have a quarterly plan. RUclips videos I have been watching are: Tiffany Shelton 12 week year videos and her weekly plan videos, Romoplans video called goal update 3rd quarter, Sarra from the channel Heart Breathings 90 day reset routine-she talks about good, better and best goals, and Tracy from the channel the revised writer in her weekly 1 hour live plan with me video discusses planning like a writer. I think their ideas and your videos will be helpful. Thanks for all you do!
Hi Fren! (i feel like you are) you have mentioned trying to sync your workouts with your cycle. Have you heard of P.Volve? It is a [mostly] low-impact work out system and they have a program called "Phase and Function" where they have really good workouts to practice in all the different phases of our periods. I tried them two years ago and have been practicing it since. I love it and it really works! like, it really seems to match the ebbs and flows of energy as our cycle changes. Catch: you may need to buy some of the equipment they sell, but you don't really need it to start. Thank you for all you insights on time managements and sharing on the challenges that come with life as a human in our modern world.
Do you have a recommended video to explain the margins concept/practice you started using in your dailies? I’d like to learn more. Thanks for your videos.
Thank you for the honest and heartfelt video. You might enjoy looking into the constellation system by Rachael Stephen. She has a video called ‘Early autumn in my bullet journal’ that gives an overview and a quick start guide on her website. It’s a sort of witchy approach to to dos and life organisation that I love and helps a lot with overwhelm.

Nola ♥️ Of course. Sometimes getting out of bed really is an accomplishment!

Yes and hopefully a pre crash reminder that you should take some time for yourself so you don't crash!!! Good luck with all the stuff you're doing ☺️
Thank you for being so candid about your mental health struggles. It means a lot to me and helps me to hear.

Thank you for your honesty. I struggled in my mental health in July also. One Book July celebrates my struggle 🎉

That can be a real big deterrer for planning. I totally understand that! Thank you so much for watching and commenting
I appreciate seeing how you navigate rough waters in your recording systems. Thank you for bringing realness to the journal space.
Yes, definitely more on time and overcoming time scarcity.

oo love the way you set up your period tracker and monitor along w movement/energy/mood!!
Thank you for honest sharing about your mental health struggles. You are not alone with feeling overwhelmed and stuck. We’ve all been there😊.
Love this ❤ simple and logical. Helps my adhd, burnout.. thanks for sharing 🎉
Thank you for your bravery and vulnerability x

You're great.
Have you heard of the 12 Week Year? I base my quarterly review on that.
rach you are so eloquent and verbally process your emotions + issues so clearly! sorry you were struggling but glad you still found moments of joy and are feeling a bit better :)

Purchasing a Hobonichi?? 👀
New subscriber here. I am so enjoying your videos. Question. Where is that pen you are using from?
Hiiii! I related to this video a lot, thanks for sharing! What was the name of the book about mental health that you mentioned?
OMG I commented before the end of the video, I just went to see Taylor in Seattle and it was the best night ever! I hope you have a WONDERFUL time ❤
I'm pretty sure I'm referencing the book Real Self Care!
🤩 I heard her Seattle shows were AMAZING. I'm SO HYPE FOR LA
