I fully believe that God gave us free Will and that if that free Will is taken from us, God does not hold us accountable for being fooled, more especially because Jesus gave his life so that we may be forgiven. I’m glad you touched on that.

I've always thought the ATF would go from being a government organization to highly sought after trade items in an apocalypse type scenario. That alcohol can also be used as fuel, if you could make a near continuous run, you could power a small generator (with a little modification to the carb to readjust to alcohol stoichiometry) and run a fridge or freezer, or if someone was life dependent on something that requires electricity that would be a huge commodity. I kind of jokingly say tobacco because so many people are basically dependent on it, but it does also provide some medicinal uses, and then all things firearms related should go without saying. We have a few ponds on our property so I always figured we'd have a back up plan if hunting and fishing came up short on the protein end of the spectrum. A big one I had just thought about since the train derailment would be clean water or a way to make dirty water clean (charcoal I suppose)

I learned in sales that if people can imagine themselves using it they will buy it.
I think that's why a fishing kit is in the handle of all the "survival knives"..
Ideal money is lightweight, portable and divisable.
So fish hooks, mostly small to medium size, would be high on my list of barter goods.
A bunch of small zip lock bags with 10 hooks per bag would be something people would trade for.
    Same for 22 ammo.
Nails , galvanized, 8's and 12's will fix or build most things.
Skills is high on my list.
Cans of roofing tar to fix roofs might come in handy. It lasts nearly forever. Fixes or seals lots of things
People are going to need things fixed. All kinds of tools. Are useful and extras are tradeable.

Sorry, but I’m not trading someone ammunition so they could potentially use that against me and/or my community. Seeds is up there with me, as well as tools for trade. Tools such as axe, hatchet, hoe are high on list. Tarps are cheap to buy and hoard and people that have no skills to build will want them . Fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, wine, hard cider, vinegar, dried fruit, wheat flour, sourdough, home canned and pickled vegetables, medicinal herbs and herbal remedies. All from a half acre. Hand sharpening services, because some people just can't do it. And the flour, our hand grinder is limited capacity, so that's gonna be interesting.
We garden, have been planting apple and plum trees, blueberries, blackberries, aronia berries, grapes, next year we plant elderberries and a test bed of wheat. Been using the same sourdough starter for a couple years now.
Wife has been making various salves, tinctures and stuff. She's had chickens, and wasn't happy with the idea. I do some bicycle maintenance, I've done some teaching, machining, bricklaying and engineering. Wife has been an EMT, hospice giver, restaurant cook, head chef and manager. We both shoot, I reload, maintain the firearms. I ruck 1,100 miles a year lately every morning for exercise. I just picked up an "eggbeater" hand drill at a yard sale last weekend and restored it yesterday. We are past the novice stage of turning rocks into decorations and jewelry.
Got a buddy with chickens and goats, he'll be tapping maple trees in the spring, he also has grapes, apples, plums and pears. His wife cans.
Got another buddy with horses, he'll be bartering horses and a taxi service.
Got another buddy who is a beginning blacksmith. He's getting there.
Got another buddy with a wood lot. Lots of trees on 40 acres that he is tending. They don't just grow, you have to clear some, replant some...
This village will need someone to tan leather, another to make shoes, someone to grow hemp for clothing and rope, someone to make thread and yarn from the hemp and goats, (need some sheep in the village)(heck, we will use dog hair to make woolen clothing if we have to) someone to turn that into cloth, cord and rope. We will need someone to distill alcohol, someone to make fine tools for weaving, woodworkers, cabinet makers, traders to go to other villages and even to the coast to get salt.
At least there's plenty of steel around to work with. The blacksmith will need an apprentice to man the bellows, make the charcoal. Eventually a glass maker and potter will be needed. We have limestone, we will need a lime kiln. And we will need some strong backs to dig and crush the limestone. (if you don't know why we need a lime kiln think mortar for bricks, water purification, pickling lime, waste disposal, paper making, ink additive, lime soap lubricant, soil amendment and the list goes on ) We will need a stone mason so that we can have a reasonable grain mill. And that grain mill will need the services of the tool maker, the cabinet maker, the carpenter, the blacksmith and others to build the mill on the river where it used to be. Maybe a brick maker too. Yes, will need bricks for the lime kiln. And an ash collector because ash contains valuable chemicals.
We will need several wells and outhouses dug. They will need to be placed in such a way that the wells are not contaminated. We need someone to make buckets. And someone to make shingles and buttons and re-handle garden tools.
We will need a butcher. And someone to grind the bones so that they get used as a soil amendment. A side mill off the grain mill?
Hooves get turned into glue. That stuff will be precious, we won't have a lot of it.
We don't have a good supply of natural sulfur, so wither sulfur or gunpowder will eventually a trade item along with sea salt. Saltpeter
With all these skilled trades people we will eventually get back to having some form of money in the village, so we will eventually need a banker.
And to access the books on these things in the library we will need a couple educators. The cabinet maker and the tool maker will need to team up to build the equipment to make paper. Oh, we will need someone to make a reasonable ink. At least we have some locust bean trees in town to make the thickening agent.
And we need a doctor. A baker. A sheriff. A trading post. Someone to maintain the streets. Deliver the mail. We will need someone to maintain the kids microscope used by the doctor and the well inspector. Someday we will need a lens maker. A bow maker, arrow makers.
Yah, I've thought about this. Even started some fiction about it. What's it gonna look like when the level of sustainable technology in this country suddenly reverts back to 17th and 18th century and most of those skills are forgotten.
See how complicated life gets just making a village from 1817. Oh, by the way, many of these jobs that will need to be done is how we get last names like Butcher, Fletcher, Boyer, Weaver, Spinner, Baker, Mason, MIller, Cooper, Fisher and so on. That's how important they are to civilization.
But for the village not to become a ghost town we need most of these occupations, and we will need trade goods to send to the gulf coast for salt and gunpowder. And that's different from personal bartering. My bet is we send grains, dried meats, cattle, sheep, goats and pigs on the hoof, flour, burlap, lime, but the trading will likely involve multiple directions to get salt and black powder back to rural Iowa.
See how much I've thought about this? Trade fairs of Medieval Europe, science of the 18th century, village life of the 19th century, if it goes down hard, this is where we will be. About three generations after the Great Reset the Second Renaissance starts somewhere and electricity and communication starts to flow again. Things that only grandparents remember start to spread. At least there's plenty of steel to work with.

We are so dependent on the government that most people cant make it without the hand outs. Old folks and handycapped folks are not able to survive by themselves. Im 73 and i know that i couldnt do the things i used to. Love your channel , preach the word and love your neighbor. Thanks for your videos.

Justin, I think you have an Excellent idea about a community. I’m not sure if you ladies have thought about this. Ladies, you need to learn how to take up a pistol and knife whatever it might be a single woman alone is a prime candidate until you can get to a safe place kind of like what Justin is talking about the community.
Just my thoughts, because I am one of those single ladies however, I’ve been taught very well from a young age. I do apologize if I have offended anyone with my comment.

The top in demand items will be food and clothing.
Problem is the people seeking food won't have anything to offer except violence.

can throw crushed mullein seeds into water and it'll stun the fish so you can just pull em off the top, from what i hear. Course if everyone does it, or if it's done more than ~once a year, there won't be any fish left xD
the cheap bags of powdered potatos will probably be worth a helluva lot as well lol
Magnets and copper wire might be good too. Just rotate a magnet around a copper wire and you've got a motor making electricity. maybe fidget spinners or wheels as well, since they make it pretty easy. Dunno how to apply it practically yet though, besides maybe starting a fire.
