Justin I just made 13 containers of plantain salve 2/18/24. I let it sit in oil for over 2 months strained the oil added my bees wax from my honey bees and added some essential oil. Everyone I give it to loves it. I’ve been making it for years and it’s great for stings and itchy skin. Great video.

Justin I sure appreciate you going to the trouble to help us learn to make your salve. I like your no-nonsense explanations and the way you took the mojo out of this simple time-tested remedy. And I especially enjoyed your beautiful Southern drawl. I’m in NC and people are ashamed to sound Southern or country around here anymore. It’s a sad reality. @@user-ms1uz7th1w A spit poultice is when you stick one of the leaves in your mouth and chew it up pretty good to release the plant juices, then take the chewed leaves and put it on the sting, bite or wound.
You can do that wherever you are if you get a sting and can find the plant nearby.

I love your video, and your son is adorable! Thank you for this. So many people have no idea just how important plantain is. It's one of the best medicinal plants out there, and most people just dismiss it as a useless weed. It's great for bug bites, but will also draw infection out of wounds, cuts, blisters, any sort of broken skin. If there's any pus in there, it will start to heal in, no joke, less than 24 hours. Plantain has antimicrobial properties, so the wound won't reinfect. Amazing plant. And, it's edible. Young leaves add zest to a salad.
So thanks again for this video about it, and showing people how to make a salve out of it.

Hi Justin, thank you for this wonderful tutorial!! it was very helpful, now I know how the plantain plant looks like 😊❤. I usually do salves for my use ,family and friends only, and I usually put a few drops of vitamin E in the batch, and mix well before I pour into the containers. Vitamin E is an antioxidant and prevents the oil from going rancid, so your salve can last a little longer( it also wonderful healing properties). But it is not a preservative, this has to be clear😊. Thank you again, I just suscribed to your channel!

Put a piece of muslin ( or an old t-shirt cut to the size you need) into your straining sieve. After pouring your plant material & oil into the cloth lined sieve, pick up all the corners of the muslin. Start twisting the muslin. Continue to twist to get as much of the oil out as possible. Squeeze the ball of plant material. I strain into a measuring cup of appropriate size. That makes it easier to pour the oil into your containers.
As he said, you can make do with what you have. It will work out. GOD bless
