Another fun print fix friday. For the Renkforce, I personally would rebuild it to help keep it out of the landfill. I also find great joy in rebuilding printers, I have saved a few ultimaker 2+'s (and several other printers) from being tossed, I just rebuilt them with Klipper and now they have a new life that will last a long time and depending on what you do to it, it doesnt take too much effort to get it up and running again, usually just a new main board, rasp pi and some type of ABL and its good to go. I was able to give away my second ultimaker to my brother in law to get him into 3d printing and I feel confident that it will last him a long time with the over haul that I did, and yes it has been converted to 1.75mm filament from the 2.85-3mm so it is more usable.
I'd normally agree with printers like old ultimakers or enders where at least the mechanics are all right, but these printers were from the same timeframe from a manufacturer that didn't really understand 3d printers, so obvious things like using H-bot which isn't that great for accuracy (unless you make the machine super rigid), not having any parts cooling, no heated bed or really any build volume to speak of. I get that it's a waste to just throw it away (I spent way too much time getting an old ender 3 to work just right) but taking the parts and re-using them into like a core-XY voron build would be way better use of the parts than keeping it and trying to make it work as-is.
Klipper isn't gonna save a printer when the starting state of the printer is just bad, it's not like this is some kind of old ender or prusa that at least worked correctly without modifications.
11:36 - I'd definitely appreciate a preventative maintenance video for the XL. Most of my printers are still running fine after years of use, but it's not because I've been a responsible 3D printer operator.
Can definitely look into doing one! Havent needed to do anything crazy yet!
On the subject of Renkforce. I have only ever seen these printers in the Conrad store. It is probably an in-house brand from Conrad. Conrad is something like the European version of Microcenter. Most of their business is through online sales. They only have a few stores left.
My fail was epic....I discovered the Senko model diorama I've been working on was missing her lower legs. Because I'm using 3d gloop, this means I have to reprint her all over again. I decided to check and see if her umbrella stick (which wasn't the whole thing) was part of her hand or not. It wasn't so I went into blender and replaced it with the full size one. That meant unfortunately I had to repaint it (would be a nice feature for prusa slicer to re-apply existing paint to new versions). That's printing now. I have her legs (upper and lower this time), skirt, torso, and the left arm completed. I believe I can recycle the tail. I had no trouble pulling that off the old one. I was really looking forward to moving on to my next project. lol The good news is that I've saved everything I've done with this model. That means it's getting done in a fraction of the time. I ran out of nude (beige esun pla+) last night. But I saw it was getting low so I ordered more and already had it on hand. So I only lost a few hours since I stayed in bed longer this morning. I believe it ran out around the time I would have normally gotten ready for work. But I stayed in bed until 10. I also had my 3rd legit MMU3 fail about 20-30 minutes ago. I got a really bad tip for whatever reason and It required me to cut it off since it wouldn't load. I have the cutter on so I have no idea why it didn't try that. But considering I'm at like 15k tool changes, that's not bad.
Hell i had the screen cable on my ender3, it was the og cable by the way shorted and fried a brand new SKR 1.4 turbo. Well at least the USB port functions
A Maintenance video on the Bambu’s would be great, I try to keep up with the maintenance, I keep the AMS on the side instead of on the top glass of my X1C to make nozzle changes and maintenance easier but maybe I am missing some maintenance items. My first set of PTFE tubes in my AMS lasted just over 3000 hours but I print a lot of single color prints. Only the tube coming out the back of the AMS was close to failure but I replaced all PTFE tubing in AMS and printer.
I so want to see that PM on a Bambu with AMS

@3D Musketeers Hey Grant, as far as layer shifting goes, that was the problem that I originally contacted you about. I found that my problem was the fan for my MB had stopped working. You my need to maybe mention that as a possible solution, also. (And yes the stepper motors on my Ender 3 Pros do not have grub screws - they are pressed on, lol)
I think a video on the AMS itself would be great. The Bambu printers themselves have the Bambu wiki videos to follow but the AMS has nothing. I know mine is probably hurting for some maintenance but honestly I am pretty nervous about screwing with the thing. Anything Bambu I have had to work on has been a PITA

Dude you dont need to spend $400 for a good 3D printer , Several sub $300 and a couple sub $200 are great for beginners or intermediate makers. FF 5M , Creality v3 se, Anycubic Kobra 2, and others that you probably know of that I dont. I completely agree with you, That thing the person wanted help with needs to retire

For that ender 3 I would at least consider just replacing the main board (and maybe psu) so you can at least salvage the motors, bed and hot end

Took me 1600 hours on my bambu before I had a Boden blowout on my AMS
Must not be running a bunch of fiber filled stuff lol. We've seen some fail as early as 400 hours, but then again you shouldn't be running that through an ams anyways
Ad Renkforce: thats a house brand of Conrad Electronics, which is a european store chain somewhat similar to radioshack. Nowhere near the iteration speed & breadth of of testers the usual suspects rely on.

@@3DMusketeers For the RF100v2: it's listed as "discontinued"(but documentation is still available), was an active SKU from 2017 until 2021 or so. Don't know about how significant the v2 part is - but a version without v2 didn't make it through the last big shop software change they made, that's if it was ever sold.
My issue for the MK3 update is the price. For only a screen and card, it’s expensive
it adds input shaping, which is worth it to me!
