5 years later, it still hurts imagining Prince all alone in Paisley Park... no wife/kids ... all by himself as he quietly passed away. Hearing Appollonia talk about his attempt to make things right towards the end is haunting. We’ll never know for sure if P “sensed” his time was coming, but with every interview I watch, it sure as hell feels like he did. Lucid dreams of his deceased friends... telling Morris Day he loved him for the first time... damn. Prince, we love and miss you! 💜💜💜
@@mkeyw2226 She’s getting a ton of invitations for the first time in 35 years. Do you begrudge het for having fun, reminiscing about her past, and maybe getting paid a little. Why does that bother you? Prince needed her in Purple Rain. He got what he wanted. Can’t she? She has a right to revisit her life. She seems like a sweetheart to be honest.
@@TheSteveSteele why did she come out while he was alive? She lied about Manic Monday! Jesse Johnson cleared that since he was there for the recording. It’s not just her, Do you thinks would agree with their stories?
I lived in Minnesota for 23 (mostly freezing) years. The organization I worked for have property and offices right across the street from Paisley Park. Prince's family had a home and property (secluded, naturally) just a few miles away. In all of that time living and working there...I never saw Prince. But an acquaintance of mine was out walking in the woods nearby at Lake Anne one day, and ran into him. They had a brief, friendly conversation. And this person I know did not know who Prince was! (Prince told him to ask his kids about him, LOL). My acquaintance asked him his name...And Prince said, "I'm Prince!!" My friend said, "Prince of WHAT?" How great is this story.
That's a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing it. Prince was the greatest artist bar none because he was a wonderful human being too with an amazing heart.
@cricket roberson Hell look at how old she is. Denise would've been just as "boring." She was "born again" before she turned back to crack and died. You don't have to knock one of them just to uplift the other one.
She is pretty and she was perfect for the film. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have been in it. Prince was a Perfectionist of the best kind. If he felt like Vanity would've been better she would've been in the film. Appolonia was perfect for the part. Her character was laid back and not overly rambunctious.
@@Moonewitch What? did we see the same movie? Appolonia was a horrible actress and she had no talent what so ever she was only a pretty face and nothing more and the only reason she got the part was because Denise backed out.
She did not turn back to crack and die. She had failing kidneys from choosing to stay on dialysis rather then have another transplant. You do not need to make up shit about Vanity to build up Apples. The director of PR has said repeatedly that her acting was horrible
I saw Prince back in 84 on The Purple Rain Tour at the Long Beach Sports Arena in Long Beach, CA. One of the best concert experiences and honor of my life.💜
Saw Prince twice back to back here in Birmingham,AL BJCC Arena, was working the show as security backstage, met him & the band, The Revolution, Morris Day & Shelia E. Best shows of my life & I've seen hundreds of great acts here in Bham
I was gonna go to a Prince concert in 1985, I was 18 & passed it up bcz the guy I was gonna go with was my boyfriend, but I met another guy that I liked MORE and I thought it was the right thing to do to let him know this & tell him I cldnt go. Purple Rain was the perfect of example of Prince's best acting skills. That scene with his father, the scene when he hits appollonia, the crying when his father dies. He was incredible! watch those scenes again, highly recommend
Doesn't get talk much about it, but that year, Prince was considered for an Oscar as Best Actor, many critics choose him as a great contender FOR ACTING AWARDS and many compared him to Marlon Brando in the Wild One, Beside the music, the best part about the Purple Rain movie, is Prince putting himself in a vulnerable position, his character has many enemies, he beats his woman, he mistruth his band members, he has a big ego, he makes fun of his clothes, his hair and his sexuality and he shows his insecurities in a very raw way. He really deserved been nominated for best actor.
@@jamesball5743 if you think his performance in Purple Rain isn't brilliant, well, your in the wrong channel. No other rock star has ever achieve the greatness of Prince performance in Purple Rain. Like many great film critics say back then, he deserved the Best Actor Nomination.
Listening to Apollonia I have a completely newfound respect for her. I never had that type of respect before, but now I see she's very heartfelt, very genuine, and she really was deserving of that role.
I’m seriously enjoying this interview. Well past my bed time and I have to get up in a few hours and I’m here smiling and happy. Apollonia is classy and so gracious for sharing her experiences.
My mother was a dead ringer for Apollonia when I was a young boy in the 80's. The cheekbones, the smile, the eyes, the nose, the hair, the body, except Apollonia's lips were a bit fuller. My mother is also of Mexican descent and I think they're around the same age even. My mother was born in March of 59'. Even though I was a little gay boy, I fell in love with Apollonia as a kid because she looks so incredibly similar to my mom, who I always thought as a kid was the most beautiful woman in the world, I still do, and partly because I had never seen a woman who looked like family on the big screen before. This was such a wonderful interview with THEE Apollonia!! Still so beautiful and such a class act. I've always loved the way she giggles and we can still hear it.:) Looking forward to her memoirs.
@@d.e.t4147 ya have to time travel to 70's 80's San Pedro, California. Apollonia is a child of parents born in Mexico, so her born in USA makes her an American latino/ hispanic /black/white whichever floats her or others boat-LoL
She has aged well. If at all. I never thought this day would come, where anybody would be having this conversation. Prince... You were a true inspiration. And that's all I can say. Anything else would be an understatement. Rest in Peace ☮️
So...I had an experience dancing with Prince..too. He appeared on that purple bike at a club in my neighborhood...outside LA and he asked me to dance. He was much smaller than I imagined...but so sweet. Listening to her speak...it reminds me a lot of my life in LA.
She acting like he wanted to have an Apollonian 6 reunión revamped album. That don’t even sound like something Prince would do. Trust Prince knew Susan Moonsie & Brenda had moved on to different careers. Appollonia 6 desolved in the 80’s & Prince had no negotiations or thoughts of trying to put them back together. Anybody who knows Prince knows he seldom backtrack with female artist unless it’s Sheila E or Lisa Melvion. And Purple Rain was based on his relationship with Vanity. She is lying the Last Dragon was given to Vanity without even doing a audition; Appollonia was never offered that role & Suzanne De Passé never fret over whether to give it her or Vanity or else we all would have long been heard about that. Suzanne De Passé, Taimak, Berry Gordy or any one who was on production in some capacity in that movie never ever mentioned her ever being considered for that role. She is lying.

It goes so deep as someone FROM Minnesota who used to go down to Minneapolis and see Prince Live at First Avenue back in the 80's. In 1985 my besties from school and I experienced one of the very BEST concerts live as he launched his Purple Rain tour. I will never forget it. It is such a sad loss of so much talent way to soon. He was and will always be the real deal. - Minnesota girl from the 80's
I was at Denise's memorial. All the girls showed up to see her off. I got the chance to meet Apples. She gives the warmest hugs. Most importantly, Apples and Brenda got baptized that day. I am sure Denise was smiling down from heaven that day, ladies. It was like you could feel the angels rejoicing. Be safe, many blessings, and love GOD,
She spoke of HER memories about her experiences with Prince and whether people believe them or not, it's her story, who are WE to judge. Loved her in Purple Rain,💜 I'm glad she got the opportunity to speak about her relationship with Prince. God bless you, Appolonia, keep doing your thing ☮️♀️💜🌹!!
Her truth doesn’t mean it’s THE truth. Some of her experiences are probably true but it’s mixed with exaggeration and some lies of hou look at Brenda bennet , Peggy mcreary amd jesse Johnson interviews. Did she maybe write a few words to manic Monday? Possible. Did she introduce prince to bangles music? Possible. Did she inspire Prince on a few songs even GL possible but she didn’t co-write it. There’s demos in the vault before her time that says so. There’s too many inconsistencies if she stuck to the truth this would be believable but all this with her nonsense about sheila is old lady high school drama. Pick up the phone and air your grievances private this is just messy
That's why I said it's HER truth. None of us were there during her time with him, and I don't have a problem with anyone who worked closely with him, speaking on their time with him, who are WE to judge her story!? Every one who worked with or spent time with him has they're own recollection and she's no different. People have been slamming Apollonia for years, but she's got the right to talk about her experiences, whether we believe it or not. To each his own, I wish her nothing but the best.
It’s not about comprehension it’s about facts. There are demos and other people who have said music in the vault or they recorded with VANITY some of you need to pen your ears amd listen to what she’s saying and read the comments where people are showing up with receipts to refute her lies
As a musician myself, I can say that Prince was one of my heros and I even had The song "1999" on 45 vinyl in 1982!! And when Purple Rain the movie came out, Apollonia was my teenage crush!! Prince was a phenomenal musician that could play any instrument flawlessly!! Thanks for the music Prince!! And thanks for sharing your story Apollonia!!
Prince has a way of soothing everyone's soul, either with his music, writing along with his soft spoken words. The loss we all share with losing Prince, Michael Jackson & Marvin Gaye is just devastating to society and to the music industry itself. Unfortunate, although the music and writings that they left will be there forever for all to enjoy and remembrance of them. They were miraculous healers of the Soul and Spirit. They did this through their music, writings & their soft spoken words. They earned their FAME in positive ways, way talanted. We will never forget them as long as we live along with my children whom are grown now, love them too. We all will be together again on Resurrection Day and I wish you peace here on Earth and comfort for the rest of your days during your journey through life. 🍀😉🙏🦋✌️🌈👀🌹❤️
LL - MG and MJ died??? Ok, J/K. I know MJs dad, Joe Jackson, shot and killed Marvin Gaye in a hunting accident.. Mang years later MJ was found dead in bed with a necktie around his throat. The authorities called it accidental suicide from a self eroticism technique, but a private detective claims it was murder by Marvin Gaye's ghost. So wild! I mean you cant make these things up if you tried.
@Truth Hurts he was married to Gloria from New York, when they moved to LA for Mod Squad...he didn't drive..she drove him to work everyday..she was in the Matrix; divorced..she passed, he never remarried.
Prince was a true genius when it came to music. I can't imagine another who would be able to duplicate what he did....rip, King, continue to take your rest....👑💙🙏🏾
Just want to say no disrespect truly but rewatching Purple Rain I would love to have seen Vanity and Prince I bet their chemistry was off the charts and she was beautiful....
What a sweetheart. I don't know Apollonia but to me it seems like the fame and the game didn't change the beautiful woman she is inside and out. I have this video on pause just to post my comments. What an awesome interview. Thank you!
Denise Matthew's was Prince's real love & he was very hurt when they broke up. He was also very sad when she passed. He found out she died just moments before he went on stage & spoke of who she was, wanted to be & that they really loved each other. I remember her being the presenter when they won for Best album in 1984 & Prince & Vanity hugged & they were both crying. *what I didn't about App. was Denise got her life together years later, off drugs & got saved. By all accounts she was really a very sweet person who fought her demons from abuse as a child. Apollonia did an interview mocking her saying oh now after all those drugs she's talking about finding Jesus. I didn't know he was lost. Thankfully Denise wasn't and found peace. The crappy part is Apollonia went to her funeral as if she cared NOT & only to be seen with the other Prince protogees for publicity. Many who worked with Prince were Denise's friends & loved her like Sheila E., Susan and Brenda. **Part of her beef with Sheila is that she really was engaged to him. I remember it being announced by Sheila's father on the radio. Also, because Appollonia can't hold a note, Prince wouldn't take her on the PR tour & instead took Sheila & promoted her album. Prince put money behind Sheila. Remember Krush Groove, Prince helped get it made just for Sheila, he was on set & notice his picture was on the wall in one of the scenes. * Sheila was also a professional musician playing with Santana, Michael Jackson (thats her making the beat throughout Don't Stop Til You Get Enough on the water glasses & Marvin Gaye before she ever met Prince. She's worked with so many artists & stayed Prince's friend longer than anyone else, even after a breakup almost 40 years! If App wants to talk drugs, she got arrested for it & said she was researching a part for a movie. She also lived next door to another one who only dated Prince to help her non existent career, Carmen Electra who said Prince was so-so in bed & after he died said The Most Beautiful Girl in the World was about her. No, but the song I Hate You was for real. The extended version really cuts "you gave a dog a place to bone & now your ass is all alone, I hate you baby". Lol. Only Prince could cut like that & I love that song!
@Denise Matthew, Shelia also played and toured with Ray Gomez in the early '80s. Saw one of his gigs with Shelia on percussion at a club (The Stone) in San Francisco.
Yeah I think prince secretly still loved Denise way after they broke up. Lol that’s probably why he married Manuela, she looked somewhat like her;either that Or he’s into women with a gorgeous beautiful fresh face with the natural beauty going on💜
Prince would have been a great Willie Wonka. Wish someone would have made that happen. The outfits - The music-The mystery-he would have been the best.
I never thought about it but now that you've said it, I can totally see it. Prince would've knocked it out of the park. He would've done it wicked good.
As a longtime fan of Prince I really appreciated getting to watch this interview and hearing what she had to say. The interviewer was excellent and I believe Apollonia was being 100% truthful and sincere the entire time and how cool that it turns out there was a whole lot more to her than just the female lead and love interest of Prince's character in Purple Rain. Definitely subscribing to this channel now.
@@lacelovelovelace6586 How is she lying about anything. Everyone wants more from Prince and about him so it is only appropriate for his entourage to speak. They should share there stories.
Absolutely loved this! My favorite part was how she humanized herself and Hollywood. Like they were actual people doing jobs. Great interview. Both very articulate and intelligent. Loved it! Started high school in 84, so, honestly, emotionally, this time period, these artists, and just coming off of 1999, friday night videos, very little touches my emotions as profoundly as these reflections and first hand intimacies of the era. Color, harmony, hope, love and people that actually played instruments. In Prince's case all of them! Thank you Apollonia!
So glad to hear Apollonia's incredible story with Prince, what a legendary tale. Prince was on another level as a musician, singer and as an individual, he was on a much higher level. This was truly an inspiring and insightful interview.
Interesting that when She was really Dating Lee Roth while PR was promoting a big romance with Prince.. They perhaps had a great friendship and relationship.
I was breakdancing outside FirstAvenue in 1983 when they were filming Purple Rain. We battled Rock Steady Crew at the 7th St. Entrance and won. Growing up with the scene we opened for Prince at the MN Music Awards; performed many times at First Ave. But I never saw Apollonia or Vanity here. Back then I wondered what happened to Vanity. Apollonia helps put things in perspective that I never knew; even though Prince invited me to Paisley Park as his guest, and introduced me to his then wife Mayte.; everyone was so compartmentalized that we didn't all know each other. I met Mallia at Bunkers and Rosie reminded me a lot of those Queens of Soul. I went to his band member's homes and pleaded with them to help save his life, long before he died. For me to see that even Apollonia was blocked, says so much. (I wasn't alone in that). This was a great interview. Thank you so much for telling the truth, straight and honestly. As a little Black child that grew up in the Minneapolis scene, I can speak for those who were here; and I appreciated it greatly. (Thanks, thanks, thanks). السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ
Look at her 4 years ago when she did a panel with the producers and other actors from Purple Rain. She must've done some maintenance since then cuz she looks much better now.
It's amazing how many people claim to be the one who told Prince, "no." Please! You didn't argue with Prince or tell him "no," too many times. Anyone who did, didn't stick around long.
You should talk to Prince's older brother about Princes real personality. He was working as one of Prince's domestic house worker and Prince was shameless in the way he would treat that poor man absolutely undignified!!
I cried during this interview!! That whole part of Apollonia letting us know Prince was trying to right his wrongs! 💜💜 So happy Apollonia shared this with us! It made me happy to hear all of this! Especially about the situation about his passing. THANK YOU APOLLONIA! ❤
Apollonia has a beautiful spirit and I can see it and I can hear it in her voice. However it just breaks my heart to know that the prince has passed on. It's almost unbelievable and it makes me sad to know this but it also allows me to rejoice in knowing that Apollonia is doing well. 🙏🏽💯
I loved this interview and made me love Apolonia even more! She is all about the truth and she is a Christian! God bless her and I can't wait to read her book.
A Christian? I hope so but I didn't hear her say this!! Vanity was an evangelist and professed being a born again Christian and follower of Jesus Christ!!
Everybody that says lord lord is not saved and belong to God, alot of women wait until they are old and no longer have their looks to come to God, and we still not for sure they are really Godly. You don't know that

Apples was a replacement for Vanity in Purple Rain. She did not originate the style. She was wearing what Vanity would wear and the hairstyle. Prince had a mead spiral notebook with the parts and it was for him and Vanity. She forget to speak on that she was a replacement. She was not around as long as Sheila. Much respect but she kept talking about truth and Prince and Vanity did that iconic Rolling Stone cover - that was glamorous. They had it - she did not bring to Prince. Prince styled his bands and A6 was no different. I cannot believe she said she brought glamour to Prince.

Loved Apollonia she was my ultimate girl. I do have a problem with this interview tho, she says shes a "songwriter". And says that she wrote half of "Manic Monday.". Right. So....she helped write the song, recorded the vocal, it was going on her Apolonia 6 album, and then apparently according to her she happily said "oh just pull it from my album, and give it to The Bangles"? And then sat and watched it go to No.1, and didnt complain about getting no songwriting credits? for 30 YEARS? Come now....
I’m only 30mins in, but I’m happy to hear about Apollonia’s relationship with Vanity. I’ve always been curious about that. Apollonia is very graceful, more intelligent than I thought, and a real professional in how she carries herself and talks about everything. This is a nice interview to see. Edit: After listening further, I think she might be stretching the truth on some things… like, REALLY stretching the truth.
I’m sure she’s stretching the truth! A man and a woman in the same bed? And Prince remained “respectful?” If you believe that I wanna sell you a piece of Paisley Park! Apollonia is the only one being respectful by not telling what really happened! That’s their little secret! I wonder what she’ll say when she writes her book?
@@lkendrix7782 Sry I am responding to you so late but I just caught this now. I wanna tell you that I experienced no sex in bed with 9 different men over 40 years due to friendship and illness. I never saw Apollonia and Sheila E. in the same room. I believe Vanity did not want to go to "Hollywood," but Prince and Vanity loved each other for years.
because both Apollonia and Sheila are compulsive liars and inflate their history with Prince now that hes passed. Sheila is still nickel and dining on Prince's name to this day

Easily the most lovable Prince chick. I used to think that was Sheila E but since Prince's death, Apollonia has outclassed every female in his life. She looks great here.
I believe , I think her roots from being Indian her skin is flawless and also people of African ancestry have great skin and age gracefully of course without hard core drugs because drugs like heroine and crack makes a person look old.
At the very end, It’s not “Almost cut my hair” which was a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young song. The song they were thinking of is “She’s Always in my Hair” which I believe was penned about Jill Jones. 💜

@@infin8mas I loved the peggy interview, I guess when prince was paying you he expected all you could give him. Peggy kept it real, he wasn't too nice to her or friendly. She didn't say much nice about him except, can't deny his genius, and in 4 years he was nice to her 4 times, if you could call flying her to see his concert, nice. He kept peggy intimated of him, so much she said "Oh shit" when she heard him coming in. I bet peggy would've never laid down on the bed he bought for her, knowing his reputation. This is a great interview too, finally prince's people are going to get paid for the work they did. I'm happy about that. They deserve it.
When the movie Purple Rain came out I saw her for the first time and I was immediately impressed by her beauty and talent. Now I see that she also has a sweet character. Thanks for this interview. I enjoyed it.
My first movie in the theater was Purple Rain and it was great but my parents did cover my eyes at some points of the movie with me being about 6 years old at the time. Loved the songs and music videos too! Thank you for taking us back in time!
I was 12 years old and my parents said absolutely not when i asked to go to it. I had to wait to see it on cable at some girl's house about 2 years later.
LOL my mom took my friends and me to see it in the theater when we were 10 or 11. She wanted me to make sure their parents knew it was rated R. My friends still laugh about how they lied when they said it was ok.
Outstanding Content !! Apollonia you were amazing on this interview. Your grace, transparency, loyalty and most of all your need to be private. I really enjoyed this impressive interview. We all want to see and hear more about what you are doing. Thank you.
It's a shame that Apples doesn't talk about being married during Purple Rain. I remember reading in my Teen Beat magazine at that time that she was married to Greg Patschull? How did the David Lee Roth romance line up with the timeline? How did Prince feel about you being married? Did he know? Curious to know what his reaction was...
Prince reaction was: she will works for me and he invited her and her husband for dinner in a restaurant. Talking over professional matters for the movie and film making. Prince told her husband he can watch the parts right there when he is doing the act with Apollonia.
@@mauricescribner7025 Your reply is neither necessary or welcomed. Apollonia herself is volunteering "her business" and if you have a problem with inquiring minds, keep it moving. None of it may matter now to YOU, but for some, it does. Again, keep it moving.
I’m sure he did know…Prince was a very astute man.I don’t think he was emotionally invested in Apples, it was about ensuring Purple Rain was a hit. It’s widely known Apollonia was in love with Prince. Weren’t all of his protégés? It’s just amazing how she and Sheila were friends right after the funeral but as soon as Sheila started with “love story” regarding Prince, Apollonia went on the attack. She claims the only tie she didn’t speak with Prince was when he was married to Manuela. Yet she and Mani were thick as thieves during the Memorial and funeral…they all wanted to be the wife (IM0.)
That was one of the best interviews I have ever watched. People are interested in hearing from Apollonia. She cleared up the dating rumors. She is still such a beautiful presence. Seeing her brought back such beautiful memories of my teen years. I have been a fan of Prince since hearing him on WJIZ radio in Albany Georgia in 1978. So to say I was interested in this interview was truly an understatement.
I don't know if she did clear up the dating rumors. At one point she is infatuated with him. Then he is really into her. They both poured their pent up sexual frustrations into the love scenes. Later, she is at his house sharing the same bed. Then, they are going back and forth between his place and her place. Then they are doing lots of projects together, and yet she did not find him attractive in a sexual way. She loved him like family. Something is not right here. The interview left out the elephant in the room regarding the appearance of queer sexuality. Why didn't the interview address this question?
@@Marvelous-ge4ef for sure prince enjoyed Apollonia in bed, if only for one time, he needed to see if she was a screamer or not, he always fantasized about the newest girl around and slept with most of them, or they wouldn't be there. Prince loved affection and would call it a day to the band if it meant he was going to get some. That's what makes for great lyrics. His experiences and fantasies. Go on with your bad self!
Apples u are as beautiful today as u were back in the day both inside & out. P was lucky to have had u as a friend. This really was a beautiful interview

This is a great interview. She’s so open, funny, has such a big heart. And she a total bad ass dressed all in studded leather 😂 Adore her. She’s a class act. Never knew she contributed at this level, and so extensively, creatively to so many. And when she started to cry, retelling how Prince, unsolicited and of his own volition, was trying to right wrongs he believed he’d done over his life, it sent a chill up my spine, and brought a tear to my eye. Thank you so much for posting this. Oh Prince. Not to take any focus away from her, but I have to write this cause, it’s Prince. The almighty purple one. Prince was such a highly intelligent, brilliant, true musical genius and a true legend, even in his own lifetime. A once in a century kind of gifted protege, he was one of a kind. I was so lucky to be alive in his lifetime. Being alive during Prince’s prime musical years was like I imagine it was being alive in the age and time of like, Mozart. We all knew we were witnessing and hearing someone and something so special, that we’d never see his like again in our lifetimes. But damn, we thought he’d be around much longer. When he died I went into what my friends and wife all refer to as my “Prince Depression”. I literally cried every day for nearly two months. I mean, I weeped. First, it didn’t seem possible. He was like ageless, immortal, evergreen. He was widely known to be health conscious, religious and lived a very clean, pure lifestyle (we thought), and wasn’t ill or old. I also cried because I was so deeply devastated at the momentous loss to the arts, and humanity as a whole, that his death was. And it made me sad that he never had a real family of his own to live and enjoy life with; had no wife and children to carry on his lineage and musical legacy, and perhaps his musical genius dna, after he died. Estranged relatives all fighting over the estate, what he built with no contributions from them, like vultures; vultures he always flew above. His genius began and ended with only him. And that is so heartbreaking. For all of his immense gifts and genius, his life was beset with tragedy and utter aloneness. When he wanted a lasting marriage and children so much, and it just didn’t happen for him. At the end he was only surrounded by enablers and people who worked for him. How horrible that must be. Then there was the fact that he’d died so needlessly, by something so unbelievable in context to him, so completely uncharacteristic. He was so health conscious, ate so well, was always lithe, toned and in shape, and god could he perform. He was always beautiful. He was just beautiful. Apollonia talks about how he lived such a healthy lifestyle. He didn’t even drink alcohol, didn’t smoke, and was never known to do illegal drugs at all. In contrast to how unbelievable a demise it was for him, it’s something so commonplace typical of so many of his contemporaries that he towered above in relation to talent, accomplishment, originality, longevity, performance and ability. It just didn’t seem even remotely possible that such a fate could befall him. It was beyond tragic. Utterly heartbreaking. I took three days vacation from work, and did nothing but watch his films and interviews, his videos, his performances, his award acceptances, and play his music, and cry. All three days. I still get tears thinking about him, and writing this. And it’s hard for me to watch any of his performances. Cause I know it’s all we’re ever going to have now. Rest In Peace Denise (Vanity) and the one and only Prince 💜
I think it’s hilarious how people dispute if what she’s saying is true. Unless you were in his inner circle you wouldn’t have a clue. You would have to be more than a fan to know Prince or know factually what happened behind closed doors. Not saying she tellin the truth or not. However she was closer to him than everyone in the comments disputing her claims. Obviously there is plenty of documentation with her and prince. So you buying all his albums or going to his concerts doesn’t equate you knowing Prince and what happened off stage. Especially since he was so private and shy. Those are facts.
While I do agree with you…we will never know…I truly believe they remained friends and that she probably did discuss ideas with him . She seems intelligent and well spoken…My problem with her interview is when she claims she taught Prince about Glamour…Prince was always glamorous. Even before Purple Rain he had the aura.. Us real fans that started with him..already knew all this before Purple Rain. She appears humble but what how much me me me is in this…I know this tactic..She is all gratitude but she takes her shots in a passive aggressive way Prince did not need her to teach him anything…He was already Prince before she came along…I have an issue that she said all this after he died and never really amounted to anything after Purple Rain…Prince put her on the map…and she will always be a huge part of the 80s. If she was as talented as she claims…She would have been HUUUGE after the Purple Rain Hype died down…I actually Really Like Her and always was happy to see her…something about this interview smacks of her trying to get some fire and interest in her….Funny how in the end …Morris Day says Prince and Vanity together again…that says a lot…
Teo, Manic Monday was written way before Apollonia had ever touch foot in Minneapolis, Minnesota. LOL😂 There are audio tapes of prince performing “TGL” before he met her. She’s lying.
@@RVS214 I feel the same way, she NEVER said any of this when he was alive, I was around the 80’s and never even heard rumors of any of this. There’s something so ingenious about this interview. Btw it was way too long.
I think Prince truly loved Vanity Denise and Apollonia was just a co worker. Vanity Denise was a beautiful woman inside and of course out. Prince tried to replace her due to his ego at the time, but he couldn't no one could take Vanity Denise place. Vanity Denise left to pursue a better life for herself and I think that was a great choice. I am so glad they both realize their destiny as we all should eventually.
A better life of drug addiction. SMH I think Prince & PURPLE RAIN, woulda been a better choice. Alas...... Patty Kotero, wuz a struggling actress & Vanity leaving, helped her our, immensely. Thank u God.
Beautiful, intelligent, and independent. The kind of strong woman, like my wife, who helps make you a better man. Thank you Apollonia! Also appreciate the interview with Seth. Being a long term P-funk fan, his mother's story and his insights were priceless! 😎
This session is so special on so many levels. I live a block south of Sunset Sound and love it (never been inside), and I love Prince, and DLR/Van Halen, I came of age in the 80s and Purple Rain was so big, and didn't know Apollonia was Mexican and so am I (for some reason I always thought she was light skinned African American!), she has so much pride that I can relate too and appreciate her for that, and now I'm in love with her, and all the stories, Bob Dylan is my hero so hearing her stories about him "I didn't know Bob likes Latinas" (paraphrase?) this blows my mind, just stunning, all the greatest people loved her and she is Mexican!! So amazing and beautiful, thank you so much!!
Everything right really! Apollonia is looking for Money! I bet she RAN to the Estate claiming writing songs to get paid they all are!
He's in a better place than we are....He is GOOD!)))))))) 💜
@@mkeyw2226 She’s getting a ton of invitations for the first time in 35 years.
Your so right I’m sad for him not having children, here 🌏 he would had been a great Dad, but he’s with his children now RI☮️
😆😆😆
Too funny and cute! I’m assuming your friend found out who he was!
"prince of what?"

That's a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing it. Prince was the greatest artist bar none because he was a wonderful human being too with an amazing heart.

She’s soo gorgeous and was the Right fit in PurpleRain. No one can take that away from her❤️
@cricket roberson Hell look at how old she is.
Correction, she "was" gorgeous. Let's keep it honest now.

What a wonderful way to continue Prince's Legacy!!!! Thank you Apollonia for your great work and dedication to the PUrple family.
She is such a good interviewee -- well-spoken, intelligent, and thoughtful lady.

That's why I said it's HER truth. None of us were there during her time with him, and I don't have a problem with anyone who worked closely with him, speaking on their time with him, who are WE to judge her story!? Every one who worked with or spent time with him has they're own recollection and she's no different. *
Sheila was also a professional musician playing with Santana, Michael Jackson (thats her making the beat throughout Don't Stop Til You Get Enough on the water glasses & Marvin Gaye before she ever met Prince.
@Denise Matthew,
Shelia also played and toured with Ray Gomez in the early '80s. Saw one of his gigs with Shelia on percussion at a club (The Stone) in San Francisco.
Where is the interview where Appolonia threw shade at Denise’s religious ventures?

@@heavenawilson5140 oh I'm sure prince was cool with Apollonia the year she worked for him. Girls say he treated them like queens.
She didn't need any plastic surgery. She is/ was beauriful with her natural beauty.❤🙏❤🙏
Apollonia you would be a great radio personality wooow very elegant speaking voice
Not really. Not enough tone for radio.
She looks amazing for a gal in her 60s!!
For the money she paid for that face she better look good in her sixties...
Look at her 4 years ago when she did a panel with the producers and other actors from Purple Rain. She must've done some maintenance since then cuz she looks much better now.

Im with her on what she says until she says she styled Susan & Brenda, they were already dressing that way with Vanity before Appolonia
Right! Apollonia needs to remember she entered an already crafted group and she was only selected to fill Vanity's vacancy
Prince styled brenda, Susan and denise the way he wanted them to dress, you can bet on that. Denise said she had to fight for her boots and long coat just to cover up some.

💜💜💜
And all the other nasty ish she had to say about Denise.....

It's a shame that Apples doesn't talk about being married during Purple Rain. I remember reading in my Teen Beat magazine at that time that she was married to Greg Patschull? How did the David Lee Roth romance line up with the timeline? How did Prince feel about you being married? Did he know? Curious to know what his reaction was...
Who is Greg?
Prince reaction was: she will works for me and he invited her and her husband for dinner in a restaurant. Talking over professional matters for the movie and film making. Prince told her husband he can watch the parts right there when he is doing the act with Apollonia.
Why would that be your business to know...her relationships from 30 years ago just don’t matter now
@@mauricescribner7025 Your reply is neither necessary or welcomed.
@@Marvelous-ge4ef I think see was pretty clear. She loved Prince enough where she would have been proud to have been in a relationship with him.

Facts
I think Apollonia wore it better
She didn't contribute, it was already done when she got there.....
your post is very touching! i feel your pain and wish u comfort! he will remain a legend!❤️
The crazy thing is Prince plotted all of this mystery to happen back in 1979
While I do agree with you…we will never know…I truly believe they remained friends and that she probably did discuss ideas with him . She seems intelligent and well spoken…My problem with her interview is when she claims she taught Prince about Glamour…Prince was always glamorous.
Even before Purple Rain he had the aura.. Us real fans that started with him..already knew all this before Purple Rain.
She appears humble but what how much me me me is in this…I know this tactic..She is all gratitude but she takes her shots in a passive aggressive way
Prince did not need her to teach him anything…He was already Prince before she came along…I have an issue that she said all this after he died and never really amounted to anything after Purple Rain…Prince put her on the map…and she will always be a huge part of the 80s.
LOL😂
