5 years later, it still hurts imagining Prince all alone in Paisley Park... no wife/kids ... all by himself as he quietly passed away. Hearing Appollonia talk about his attempt to make things right towards the end is haunting. We’ll never know for sure if P “sensed” his time was coming, but with every interview I watch, it sure as hell feels like he did. Lucid dreams of his deceased friends... telling Morris Day he loved him for the first time... damn. Prince, we love and miss you! 💜💜💜

She is pretty and she was perfect for the film. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have been in it. Prince was a Perfectionist of the best kind. If he felt like Vanity would've been better she would've been in the film. Appolonia was perfect for the part. Her character was laid back and not overly rambunctious.

She did not turn back to crack and die. She had failing kidneys from choosing to stay on dialysis rather then have another transplant. You do not need to make up shit about Vanity to build up Apples. The director of PR has said repeatedly that her acting was horrible
I lived in Minnesota for 23 (mostly freezing) years. The organization I worked for have property and offices right across the street from Paisley Park. Prince's family had a home and property (secluded, naturally) just a few miles away. In all of that time living and working there...I never saw Prince. But an acquaintance of mine was out walking in the woods nearby at Lake Anne one day, and ran into him. They had a brief, friendly conversation. And this person I know did not know who Prince was! (Prince told him to ask his kids about him, LOL). My acquaintance asked him his name...And Prince said, "I'm Prince!!" My friend said, "Prince of WHAT?" How great is this story.

I saw Prince back in 84 on The Purple Rain Tour at the Long Beach Sports Arena in Long Beach, CA. One of the best concert experiences and honor of my life.💜

I was gonna go to a Prince concert in 1985, I was 18 & passed it up bcz the guy I was gonna go with was my boyfriend, but I met another guy that I liked MORE and I thought it was the right thing to do to let him know this & tell him I cldnt go. He was shocked that I was so honest about it, & he asked me, "Are u sure u don't wanna go?" Smh, I SWEAR! I. SHLD. HAVE. WENT! And I have nvr been to a LIVE PRINCE CONCERT. 😔

Purple Rain was the perfect of example of Prince's best acting skills. That scene with his father, the scene when he hits appollonia, the crying when his father dies. He was incredible! watch those scenes again, highly recommend
When he destroyed the cellar, I felt like I was watching him unleash his anger over being abandoned in reality. I still feel that way.

Doesn't get talk much about it, but that year, Prince was considered for an Oscar as Best Actor, many critics choose him as a great contender FOR ACTING AWARDS and many compared him to Marlon Brando in the Wild One, Beside the music, the best part about the Purple Rain movie, is Prince putting himself in a vulnerable position, his character has many enemies, he beats his woman, he mistruth his band members, he has a big ego, he makes fun of his clothes, his hair and his sexuality and he shows his insecurities in a very raw way. He really deserved been nominated for best actor.

Listening to Apollonia I have a completely newfound respect for her. I never had that type of respect before, but now I see she's very heartfelt, very genuine, and she really was deserving of that role.

So...I had an experience dancing with Prince..too. He appeared on that purple bike at a club in my neighborhood...outside LA and he asked me to dance. He was much smaller than I imagined...but so sweet. Listening to her speak...it reminds me a lot of my life in LA.

She is such a good interviewee -- well-spoken, intelligent, and thoughtful lady.
She acting like he wanted to have an Apollonian 6 reunión revamped album. That don’t even sound like something Prince would do. Trust Prince knew Susan Moonsie & Brenda had moved on to different careers. Appollonia 6 desolved in the 80’s & Prince had no negotiations or thoughts of trying to put them back together. Anybody who knows Prince knows he seldom backtrack with female artist unless it’s Sheila E or Lisa Melvion.
And Purple Rain was based on his relationship with Vanity. She is lying the Last Dragon was given to Vanity without even doing a audition; Appollonia was never offered that role & Suzanne De Passé never fret over whether to give it her or Vanity or else we all would have long been heard about that. Suzanne De Passé, Taimak, Berry Gordy or any one who was on production in some capacity in that movie never ever mentioned her ever being considered for that role. She is lying.

I was at Denise's memorial. All the girls showed up to see her off.
I got the chance to meet Apples. She gives the warmest hugs.
Most importantly, Apples and Brenda got baptized that day.

Back in 1995, I had the honor of attending a friend's recording session in that same studio! The session cost was around $3k for just a few unforgettable hours.
What a great interview.....I love prince and apollonia. They are part of my youngers days that to me were the best times.....I remember especial people growing up in San Francisco ca. Lila Brenes wherever you are I always think of you and our relationship I remember how much you love prince ....the love still here for all those especial people and days in the 80th 💔😭🙏✌
As a musician myself, I can say that Prince was one of my heros and I even had The song "1999" on 45 vinyl in 1982!! And when Purple Rain the movie came out, Apollonia was my teenage crush!! Prince was a phenomenal musician that could play any instrument flawlessly!! Thanks for the music Prince!! And thanks for sharing your story Apollonia!!

It goes so deep as someone FROM Minnesota who used to go down to Minneapolis and see Prince Live at First Avenue back in the 80's. In 1985 my besties from school and I experienced one of the very BEST concerts live as he launched his Purple Rain tour. I will never forget it. It is such a sad loss of so much talent way to soon. He was and will always be the real deal. - Minnesota girl from the 80's
Prince has a way of soothing everyone's soul, either with his music, writing along with his soft spoken words. The loss we all share with losing Prince, Michael Jackson & Marvin Gaye is just devastating to society and to the music industry itself. Unfortunate, although the music and writings that they left will be there forever for all to enjoy and remembrance of them. They were miraculous healers of the Soul and Spirit. They did this through their music, writings & their soft spoken words. They earned their FAME in positive ways, way talanted. We will never forget them as long as we live along with my children whom are grown now, love them too. We all will be together again on Resurrection Day and I wish you peace here on Earth and comfort for the rest of your days during your journey through life. 🍀😉🙏🦋✌️🌈👀🌹❤️

Some of her experiences are probably true but it’s mixed with exaggeration and some lies of hou look at Brenda bennet , Peggy mcreary amd jesse Johnson interviews. Did she maybe write a few words to manic Monday? Possible. Did she introduce prince to bangles music? Possible. Did she inspire Prince on a few songs even GL possible but she didn’t co-write it. There’s demos in the vault before her time that says so. None of us were there during her time with him, and I don't have a problem with anyone who worked closely with him, speaking on their time with him, who are WE to judge her story!? My mother was a dead ringer for Apollonia when I was a young boy in the 80's. The cheekbones, the smile, the eyes, the nose, the hair, the body, except Apollonia's lips were a bit fuller. My mother is also of Mexican descent and I think they're around the same age even. My mother was born in March of 59'.
Even though I was a little gay boy, I fell in love with Apollonia as a kid because she looks so incredibly similar to my mom, who I always thought as a kid was the most beautiful woman in the world, I still do, and partly because I had never seen a woman who looked like family on the big screen before.
This was such a wonderful interview with THEE Apollonia!! Still so beautiful and such a class act. I've always loved the way she giggles and we can still hear it.:)

Absolutely loved this! My favorite part was how she humanized herself and Hollywood. Like they were actual people doing jobs. Great interview. Both very articulate and intelligent. Loved it! Started high school in 84, so, honestly, emotionally, this time period, these artists, and just coming off of 1999, friday night videos, very little touches my emotions as profoundly as these reflections and first hand intimacies of the era. Color, harmony, hope, love and people that actually played instruments. In Prince's case all of them! Thank you Apollonia!

I was breakdancing outside FirstAvenue in 1983 when they were filming Purple Rain. We battled Rock Steady Crew at the 7th St. Entrance and won. Growing up with the scene we opened for Prince at the MN Music Awards; performed many times at First Ave. But I never saw Apollonia or Vanity here. Back then I wondered what happened to Vanity. Apollonia helps put things in perspective that I never knew; even though Prince invited me to Paisley Park as his guest, and introduced me to his then wife Mayte.; everyone was so compartmentalized that we didn't all know each other. I met Mallia at Bunkers and Rosie reminded me a lot of those Queens of Soul. I went to his band member's homes and pleaded with them to help save his life, long before he died. For me to see that even Apollonia was blocked, says so much. (I wasn't alone in that). This was a great interview. Thank you so much for telling the truth, straight and honestly. The interviewer was excellent and I believe Apollonia was being 100% truthful and sincere the entire time and how cool that it turns out there was a whole lot more to her than just the female lead and love interest of Prince's character in Purple Rain. Definitely subscribing to this channel now.
She is lying and taking credit about too many things and on people no longer on this earth. I don't like that!!

So glad to hear Apollonia's incredible story with Prince, what a legendary tale. Prince was on another level as a musician, singer and as an individual, he was on a much higher level. This was truly an inspiring and insightful interview.
Interesting that when She was really Dating Lee Roth while PR was promoting a big romance with Prince.. They perhaps had a great friendship and relationship.

So pleased to have come across this interview! I was a massive fan of Prince growing up and loved the movie. Remember the excitement of getting to watch it on video rental even though I was only around 10 lol. Still got the original Warner home video of it here in uk

@@infin8mas I loved the peggy interview, I guess when prince was paying you he expected all you could give him. Peggy kept it real, he wasn't too nice to her or friendly. She didn't say much nice about him except, can't deny his genius, and in 4 years he was nice to her 4 times, if you could call flying her to see his concert, nice. He kept peggy intimated of him, so much she said "Oh shit" when she heard him coming in. I bet peggy would've never laid down on the bed he bought for her, knowing his reputation. This is a great interview too, finally prince's people are going to get paid for the work they did. I'm happy about that. They deserve it.
What was so incredible about her? She had no talent.
When the movie Purple Rain came out I saw her for the first time and I was immediately impressed by her beauty and talent. Now I see that she also has a sweet character. Thanks for this interview. I enjoyed it.

Prince was a cold-hearted lover. He always had many lovers, former lovers, and proteges in the same room together.
U mean they were always followers leeching off of him. They call them GOLD DIGGERS in todays world.
Prince had 4 lovers on stage at the same time and the girls all knew about each other. He had a pull that drew them to him and some stayed for years. He said at lib once " l don't have a heart at all" he knew it was wrong but the girls put up with it, and he was a man, so...

Prince pulled it off. Well, I briefly dated a man in a corporate place before finding out he dated every other woman in the company from the ground floor to the fourth level. How naive to believe I was the first woman in five years he had dated there. Talk about humiliation. Prior to that environment, I was an independent worker in a smaller professional setting. Never Date In The Work Place! 😱😢😠😂
