The true, torn-from-history song -- the lead track from Shemekia Copeland's highly anticipated new album, Uncivil War, set for October 23 release -- tells of the very last slave ship to arrive in America (in Mobile Bay, Alabama) in 1859, 50 years after the slave trade was banned. The ship-burned and sunk by the captain to destroy the evidence-was finally discovered in 2019. The song-featuring Alabama native Jason Isbell playing ferocious blues guitar-is a hair-raising look at living American history delivered with power, tenderness, and jaw-dropping intensity. The video, put together by Copeland and her team, underlines the undying legacy of racism that has sparked protests around the world. Видеоклипы
Shemekia Copeland is the voice of the soul.
Listening from Mobile , Alabama, resting place of the Clotilda.
What a timely cd by a superb but like so many great singers underrated I smell a well deserved grammy for this lady
If Etta James and Mama Cass had a love child, Shemekia Copeland risen out from the ashes of yesterday. What a voice
"Uncivil War" is for me the F***n' Best album of the Year
God this is such a haunting song
A powerful song by a brave and wonderful woman.
Isbell is also killin' it on this song. Nice!
One of the best voices of all time
Shemekia I know as a parent your dad must be so proud because as he did you took the blues to a higher level
Jonny Copeland Is one of my favorites and I love how Shemekia is doing with her great vocal's. Great talent and a Thumbs Up !
Amen Shemekia! I’m spreading the word.
Love this, hear the history of soul in her voice and vibrato. X
Yes, very heart-touching, great voice!!! and do not forget ,great guitars too.😆👍
Talk about a history lesson! Wow! AMAZING! I was introduced to her music simply by chance. I met her husband today, while at work.
One of 2020's top ten songs by the Queen of the Blues! Haunting, powerful, and truly intense blues by the great Shemekia Copeland ... a song you can listen to over and over
Wow...just WOW! Thank you for sharing this powerful story. It needs to be told, and you have done it brilliantly.
Shemekia you probably won't read this but in case you do I just saw you, live, in a concert in Bilbao, your voice gave me goosebumps. Wonderful expierence
Such a powerful song, and needed so badly right now
Oh my God - the voice, the song, the music, the timing - it all works! Thank you! 🧡🖤🧡
I started listening to this wonderful woman because of a recommendation by JOE BONAMASSA!

The more I listen to her the better she sound's, I like that in a performer.
I just started listening to her about a week ago. I have a feeling I'll be listening
to her for the rest of my life.
I love this track!!!❤❤❤
Wow -so powerful! Truly 'next level' music.
Yeah! You got it goin' girl! A real song with a real message. Thank you so much Shemekia.
Powerful Song by a Beautiful Woman
I got mine on order can not wait. I have seen her a few times she is a real down to earth person
Again a powerful and touching song from Shemekia. And again, this got me in tears. The message is universal and I can relate to it on a general level, even though I live in Scandinavia and do not share the same experiences of people, let alone black people, living in USA today. The news I read are so awful. I just want you to know that I support you from afar and I am not alone. Shemekia, keep singing the blues and hope burning bright!
Que som maravilhoso. Tanto pela qualidade da própria música quanto a história que foi "esquecida mas não perdoada"! Chamo de perfeição musical.
Great lyrics, great music and amazing voice!!!
I cry every time...

Awesome voice. Where has she been hiding
Awesome song! I've heard of Shemekia Copeland, and I've heard her music. But until recently I've never known how her name was spelled. I've always assumed it was *"Sheniqua"* Copeland, or *"Shemequa"* Copeland.
Да прекрасная композиция 👍

This is another clear message that we will never move from slavery. The biggest mistake in the history of the world was slavery. We will never find a coexist no matter what happens.

The initial graphic could be misinterpreted. The horrible and disgusting practice of enslaving human beings in the United States continued until the passage of a constitutional amendment in December of 1865. Clotida burned in 1860. At that time it was already illegal to *import* people for sale into slavery (but that didn't slow the practice down by all that much).....however the trade in domestically born slaves remained legal. Awful, unforgivable, and disgraceful almost beyond description, but "legal" nonetheless.
