Looks like you are discovering scrub radius! The point of contact in the tire changes throughout the range of its radial movement around the axis of the caster line. Imagine a line going to the floor through both balljoints. That’s your scrub radius center point. Your contact patch location changes through the scrub radius and it’s amplified by the offset of the wheel from the hub. Good video though. Long time viewer and love your stuff.
Bought a lifetime alignment from Firestone 13 years ago. It cost double what a single alignment cost at the time. I get at least 1 a year from them. But I understand a busy person having these items to get there stuff close. And get it checked. If you keep your stuff get the lifetime. Doesn’t matter whether you change your truck from stock or not long as vin matches. Great investment.
You're measuring caster with the truck at an angle leaning backwards since you didn't set the rear height equal to the front which will result in caster off a few degrees I think
@squarebody_Tig good effort though, even when using an alignment rack adjusting caster then camber will keep throwing off each other during the process. Also always remember you need to set your front toe based off your rear toe
You guys should offer a diy tool you guys come up with on the website. It makes it easier for everyone to get and you guys can make some money to help with the channel
Would it be easier to have the arrows on the turntable’s on outside of the tires that way you can see the numbers snd the arrows from the side of the truck.
I'm guessing the truck suspension is scrubbing back to ride height after you jack it up and put it on the turn tables. That's why it's not going back to 0
When you move that cam bolt you are adjusting camber and caster so there is no such thing as doing it one at a time you have to do it together. You gotta get your numbers for both camber and caster first then adjust both front and back cam bolts to preferred degree
I own an alignment machine and rack. You will never be able to duplicate what the machine does. I can do an alignment in under 30 minutes. Just go to a shop. This was comical to watch thanks for sharing
@squarebody_Tig you keep learning and you will get yourself a good side hustle. I was impressed how close you got the specs to acceptable range. Awesome job sir 👏 👍 🙌
Turn tables are ment to move, just be careful not to turn the wheels cause the vehicle can walk itself off the platforms lol(when you're on a lift). Alignment racks swivel like that, I hated looking for those stupid metal bearings when they came out lol. They swivel to adjust Camber, Caster, Toe. If anything Set The Toe N' Let It Go! 😂🤣
Also the steering wheel should be locked or held straight so you don't get the "pulling" effect lol. You adjust so the steering wheel is straight the entire time you're adjusting
I learned something from this do not try a DIY alignment and just take it directly to an alignment shop, You start with the wheels being aligned then you start trying to align the wheels they get worse and worse as you try.
As someone that just did new tie rods and ball joints on my truck yesterday, I greatly appreciate this 😂
You should have the brake on during the alignment. That's why the plates are moving and letting the tires spin a little.
Yup. The alignment guys use the tool to press the pedal during alignment. Hopefully he sees this
Last time I was this quick I found out I was having a 3rd kid lol
This is why this channel is my favorite it's real
Anytime you learn where you went wrong and can fix or learn from it, it is definitely a win. Dedik you are not wrong buddy.
When you set the turn tables up, the arrows and the degrees need to be on the outside of the tire so you can see them.

This reminded me of leveling my pool table. Just chasing myself around the damn table and 8 hours later I finally did it LMFAO...

That’s a hell of a deal!
Good at any Firestone nationwide
I got the same thing at brake check as well
Wish I could drop off my truck man and let Detig work his magic on it…haha 🙌🏽
Wrap the seatbelt around the steering wheel to hold it. And the mirrors on that GMC looks sweet for the fact the window vent still work.
Hey, he gave it his all! Keep up the hard work 💪🏻
Rubber pad is to fill the hole on a alignment rack when you pull on. The degrees are hard to read and pins because pins are to outside of wheel
“Glad you feel that way, I wouldve been out of the alignment shop by now”😂😂😂😂😂
We need to see some Toyotas on the channel. Would it be really cool
Let’s get this week started!!
Perfect way to cap off a Monday!! 🤌🏻🤌🏻
13:00 Adjust your knuckle!!!😂
Ksr RUclips channel has a few videos and a pretty simple rig setup for alignments, the vehicles he's aligning are going 150 plus down the drag strip
If you take pliers and squezze both sides of the zip ties you can undo them and save them! Just FYI. Good video!
That what the black spacers are for goes between the rack and turn plates for when you do the roll back for caster readings.
That was awesome to watch
Let’s go! I just got back from San Diego… it’s so nice compared to central California 😂
Happy Monday Ryan
Great video as always
You're measuring caster with the truck at an angle leaning backwards since you didn't set the rear height equal to the front which will result in caster off a few degrees I think
I think you’re correct. I realized this after we finished
@squarebody_Tig good effort though, even when using an alignment rack adjusting caster then camber will keep throwing off each other during the process. Also always remember you need to set your front toe based off your rear toe
Whats going on with the square body dmax
You can reuse zip ties squeeze the square with pliers they will release
You guys should offer a diy tool you guys come up with on the website. It makes it easier for everyone to get and you guys can make some money to help with the channel
I may have missed since detig came back. Did he give a k20 update
11:18 no hate but my dude is glazing this alignment system I love it making me wanna buy one
Aww yiss 34s after release , notify me plz!
When can we see the toolbox you got at sema?
Would it be easier to have the arrows on the turntable’s on outside of the tires that way you can see the numbers snd the arrows from the side of the truck.
Dont feel bad, I used to be a tech at honda and I refused to do alignments anytime I got one😂
What catch can did you install Detig? Any recommendations for one for a 2017 Chevy 6.2L Silverado?
I'm guessing the truck suspension is scrubbing back to ride height after you jack it up and put it on the turn tables. That's why it's not going back to 0
Good stuff.. 😎👍👍
For the tire spinning have something holding the brake down
Can anyone get hptuners and can you show witch one you are using and how to video
When you move that cam bolt you are adjusting camber and caster so there is no such thing as doing it one at a time you have to do it together. You gotta get your numbers for both camber and caster first then adjust both front and back cam bolts to preferred degree
We 100% didn’t the need the turn table up close and personal shot of detig 😂
Is that Detigs square body furnace in the background at the end of the video?? Update soon maybe??!
Time is money just take it to the shop
Let's gooo
Love the effort you guys apply, I’m not buying the accuracy of this setup. Guess we will see at the end.
I own an alignment machine and rack. You will never be able to duplicate what the machine does. I can do an alignment in under 30 minutes. Just go to a shop. This was comical to watch thanks for sharing
I learned a ton from it and that makes it all worth it haha
@squarebody_Tig you keep learning and you will get yourself a good side hustle. I was impressed how close you got the specs to acceptable range. Awesome job sir 👏 👍 🙌
Is he holding the brakes, you have to have the brakes depressed when turning the tires to measure the specs
Update on the Bronco
You’re supposed to have the turn tables with the markers on the outside side of the tyre that way you can actually read them…
Need to lock the brake when doing an alignment so the tire doesn’t rotate when turning
I have a lifetime warranty on my front end alignment on my truck it cost 💲80
Turn the tables1/4 turn bring the arrow out war may work better
You should have the brakes on when doing adjustments and caster swing
Turn tables are ment to move, just be careful not to turn the wheels cause the vehicle can walk itself off the platforms lol(when you're on a lift). Cheap ends up expensive... Just go to a shop and have it done right, any issues in the future it's their problem!
On alignment machines there are 2 lazers
Its fine. Youll put this money into it and then the transmission will go in 10k miles
Does Zach come around anymore
So anyways take it to an alignment shop
I learned something from this do not try a DIY alignment and just take it directly to an alignment shop, You start with the wheels being aligned then you start trying to align the wheels they get worse and worse as you try.
Or you can buy the lifetime alignment at Firestone for $200!
Hey
Heyy
your using the turntables wrong, they should be facing outward to side of wheel
Pins should be on the outside.
That actually makes sense. Maybe we should’ve had the arrow on the side of the tire to gauge from instead of the front.
4:34 you can put a little grease in a plastic bag and use that for turn tables… I you do this a “little” grease goes a long way…!!
25K😂😂😂
Maybe it would be faster to make the alignment really bad forcing the person to the alignment shop the same day. 😂
Might be onto something here
😅😅
First comment
Ooor just take it to a shop and not waste the money on a DIY setup and take that money to a actual rack to align it 😌
First
Total fail! Would Ryan really be OK with this on his denali? 😂
