    A mention should be made of the Battle of Yavin as a whole, not just Luke Skywalker's role in it. The Rebels only had thirty starfighters to send against the Death Star, yet the battle was won. True, most of the fighters didn't make it back, but that's a bargain no matter how you look at it.

    • @chrisoddy8744
      @chrisoddy8744 Год назад

      The casualty ratio is definitely asymmetric as well - yes, the Rebels lost 30-ish starfighters and skilled pilots, but the Imps lost millions of personnel including their most skilled pilots, troopers and commanders, plus a state of the art and ludicrously expensive battle station. It's absurdly lop-sided!

    Nitpick on Crynyd: that was not THAT cost efficient due what happened BEFORE he rammed the Executor. Namely, the many ships that had been taken out earlier in the battle while firing at the Executor (we see a Nebulon-B exchanging broadsides with the dreadnought), a large part of the Rebel fleet firing everything they had at the Executor and bringing most of the shields down (we saw Ackbar giving the order) enough for a pair of fighters to nail the bridge shield generators, and finally the fighter attack wave on the bridge of which Arvel Crynyd was the ONLY one who got through with a damaged fighter, at which point he decided that if he was going to die he'd ram that bridge.

    One of the reasons I hated that pink haired woman from the sequels is because of how she treated Poe. There were 2 characters in that entire trilogy I like, Fin and Poe and Poe after destroyed starkiller base and essentially crippling that massive star destroyer, single handedly too, she demoted him and calls him a "fly boy" like lady Poe is probably the only reason why you'd go on to kamikaze all the baddies later on so shut up

      Yea well, most of us don't consider the last three movies to be canon anyway. Plus that pink haired freak was really only put there to "give woman more visibility" (despite there being Leia, and a few others) as well as give the impression that they can command a ship as well.

    I enjoy your channel a great deal, your views on The Star Wars Universe so this isn't direct at you Generation Tech, it's at Star Wars and its slow development in tech and a slight comparison and contrast to Star Trek tech. Yes 2 different franchises and slightly different philosophical views, but they both have their positive aspects. Imagine (if egos and money/legality was set aside and for once Star Trek and Star Wars had good writers again on the level of a young Lucas and Bradberry)if a movie could be made where the 2 Universes some how met each other and though there would be battles, the philosophical knowledge and changes each would possibly bring to each other would be awesome. It would be like combining The Neil Gaiman Sandman and Constantine Series that are/were more cerebral with The X-Men or Avengers Movies. It's time to write good New Star Wars movies again and not the fucking prequels and origin series for every little character that ever existed. Yet on a side note a Revan movie where his spirit inhabits a forgotten about clone from a hidden Kamino Facility in a new Star Wars series(not pre this or that but after episodes 7-9)would be pretty bad ass.
    I find it interesting that by the time you get to the advancement of Star Wars in tech, the economy is still based on the archaic and backwards concept of "Capitalism" Hell, even Adam Smith would ask why the hell an entire galaxy hasn't moved beyond that system. I'm also curious as to why Star Wars never developed "Transporters"? Even in the early 90's Teleportation was being worked on in the civilian Military Science Sector. In The Deep Black US Military Sector Transdimensional Physics had been mastered in the 1970's. Which itself is a form of Teleportation. So Star Wars in its next series needs to up its tech b/c even by today's standards in some ways it's old tech.
