Your videos always make me feel good inside. Your teaching your children the importance of family and appreciating the simple things in life. Lucky kids!
Isn't he just the sweetest, smartest, cutie pie, Mr. Brighten!!! He has the cutest remarks to say, is very very intelligent, and loves to help everyone. Blessings! Journey On!
Your plan of letting the pigs do the "rototilling" of your garden is absolutely RIGHT ON. The added manure worked into your soil and the addition of winter rye.....look out, 'cause your garden next spring will be HUGE!
This is such a good idea...I think we may have to steal the idea from you. Small square bales aren't very cheap anymore. You've got some great helpers there...thanks for sharing!!
I love the way you open the your videos with the beautiful scenery and the farm too along with the music..Thanks Art..Hope you and your family have a great day. God Bless!
My Grandpa made a drag to use when he planted his fields. He use some old metal bed springs and put some big pieces of firewood wired to the top for weight and pulled it behind the riding mower. It worked great, not much hand raking ( only next to the fence ) at all. Just a little hillbilly tip.....LOL Love watching your family, blessings to you.
This was a beautiful day on the homestead. Loved the scene with the cat on the baby's stroller...he looked very comfortable. Glad to see the goats are happy with their new "friend" and he looks pretty happy too. Is it just me or do all goats look like they are smiling? Y'all have a Blessed day.
Margaret Bedwell enough thousands of years of selective breeding by humans will put a smile on most animals' faces. We keep the ones we like, to breed from, and we like smiley animals. Dogs smile too - dogs and goats hold equal place for the earliest evidence of living with humans.
Your movies are getting better and better. I love the music, the dramatic opening, The close-up of the pigs eating apples is great for the November calendar shot. I never thought I'd say this, but Braveheart is the most handsome goat I have ever seen, he can smell however he wants to smell.
We feed round bales of hay in the hay rings. When the cows eat all they are going to eat we give them another roll and what does not get eaten is used for bedding and putting under the chicken roost. When it gets dirty it is then cleaned out and put in the bad places of the pasture. We can't get straw around here either.
We give our pigs an entire roll bale and in the winter they would rather burrow into the round bale then be in their structure. They also like to eat hay. We use hay for so much! We usually have someone come and cut our hay on thirds but we couldn't get/find anyone to come this year sooooooo we have very few rolls for winter. Happy Homesteading! ~Shaina~
I haven't seen the video yet... There were 49 Comments & I paused to read them. A little less than half way down I clicked like on your Commenter's "First Comment!" & I also clicked like on your Response: "First Response" Because I appreciated the sweet sensitivity of it. As I continued reading them & the reason I am posting this comment, I saw several commenters who were from many far places who were not very usual to see around & so early after the video was posted, that I wanted to encourage them to return & feel welcomed... It ended up that there were more & more of these special far away visitors... After a moment... I decided to take the time to like every single comment of the 49 Commenters. Because they are all appreciated. I just woke up from a nap, really wanted to see this video... But, I made the time in my life for making them feel welcome & special. Love you all
uh, oh, now that I watched this video that I was very interested in... I see that a round bale might not fit on my truck because it came with 5 tool boxes on the back... But round bales were one of the reasons I picked out that particular truck to purchase.
Looks like fun. My town uses round bails in art contest which are decorated & placed in various places...my Granddaughter always wants to play on them!
Fall Rye and Winter Wheat are non-compaction seed all you need to do is throw it on soil, once it reaches the right moisture it will germinate and grow, good cover crop but if it does not go to seed it will not regrow.
It great to bed animals with grass hay .. Art, Bri family I give it to my rabbits and geese, chickens, ducks they like to eat it and make barns. Smell better thur out winter months
Hi...... Art and Bri. You both are doing a good job and a hard work I really enjoy your video, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐕🐖🐈🌱🐐🐄🎥👍👍👍
Did you have/ find your sons hat he asked about? As you were spreading the rye seeds...1 of the cats were climbing a pole/ fence and it's shadow of it doing that was on the ground as you worked. (OK I thought it was VERY cool LOL)
Observing you travelling down the road, with rock formations beside the road, I thought of all the years I drove daily on similar roads. The bane of my existence was recreational cyclists, I was terrified I would come aroud a rock cut to suddenly find a cyclist in the lane ahead of me, and an oncoming vehicle preventing me from moving over to avoid hitting them. Luckily that didn't happen to me, I hope it doesn't happen to anyone. Are there recreational cyclists on the roads you travel, such as the road you travelled to to pick up the round bale of hay?
Oh.....we can get all the straw we want but its the same price. So in my opinion buy the one thats food and there will be waste no matter what you do so the waste becomes bedding. And yes pigs will eat some and if you watch them they will make a nest to sleep in especialy in cold weather
i would like to know what variety of winter rye you use and where you bought it. We also live in Western NC and I need to sow a cover crop where my cows have been and destroyed a section of the pasture during the recent rains. Thank you!
Yup, that's what id do, IF I wanted to get a milk cow for the family. Selling it in the spring after the grass has come up, it will be bigger, and near ready to use by the buyer. That's the time when he ll be worth the most money. Unfortunatly, milk cows will be high then also. To bad you couldn't buy a cow in Jan/Feb, and sell the bull in April/May.
Barbara I watch several homesteading vlogs and Ari and Bri are in the top three. I'm older too and wish I would have done what they have been able to do and raise my children that way. I realize that it wasn't in God's plans for me and at the time I was the right age I was married to someone that would never have wanted to live this life. I'm happy with my life and I don't live on a farm but we have live on about 1/4 of an acre, in the city. We have a huge garden and have grown summer gardens and fall gardens and I love it. Both of us since we bought this house 10 years ago have more health problems. Thanks to Ari and Bri and others I have found alternatives to growing so that we don't have to bend over as much etc. So to Ari and Bri, thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your life with those of us that live the life by watching what you go to the work of editing, which is a lot of work. God bless you and your family!
Barbara Rickman, you may want to check out Heartiness Approach (RUclips channel). This will be their first winter on a Missouri homestead. They make and then explain their mistakes, and how to avoid them next time. They are around 60+ years old, and married 40+ years, and are just getting started on their homestead. A worthwhile channel.
You will blink, and your boys will be big enough to be getting your hay : ) do you know if the larger hay bales have that herbicide in them? I resisted getting any smaller bales, as I cover my garden for our very short winter, and had a problem years ago...thanks for sharing, God bless you
PhantomGhost 63 She is well fed, wormed given minerals and has always looked like this. I try and try to fatten her up, but she continues this weight so I am figuring this is just the way she looks.
Not sure what it weighs, but not 1,000. I'm guessing 500. lol I have a bunch of cattle. And I can't even rock the rolls. I wanted to see your trick. ;)

Bri, whatever you are doing is working! U look fantastic & u are glowing 🌹🤗
Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed hanging out with you guys.
This is such a good idea...I think we may have to steal the idea from you. Small square bales aren't very cheap anymore. You've got some great helpers there...thanks for sharing!!
I love how bright and cheery your kitchen is, in the morning, with the sunlight streaming in.
Thanks for another great video. Loved the shadow of the cat on the garden post. I am glad it jumped down before knocking your camera off the post.
Those kids are growing up fast, must be all that good family LOVE THANKS FOR SHARING...
I love the way you open the your videos with the beautiful scenery and the farm too along with the music..Thanks Art..Hope you and your family have a great day. God Bless!
It's so neat to see your country side. Love all your videos.

Hello ART&BRI. Hey, you got a big bail of Hay. One more very nice video from you. Thanks for sharing your awesome homesteading life. ; - )))
such a beautiful place... You unfold the pace of that great day on the homestead to include the viewer. Excellent!
Happy almost thanksgiving. I’m thankful for y’all. ❤️

Enjoy your kids with you with hay and puppy very nice video.
Brighton is so smart...They are all growing up, very nice...
Always a great video, Thank for letting us in to your lives.

Great ideas for using hay to add biomass to the land. Six days to a fully tilled and fertilized garden plot! Fabulous! All without "lifting a finger".
We give our pigs an entire roll bale and in the winter they would rather burrow into the round bale then be in their structure. They also like to eat hay. We use hay for so much! good day to you Art, Bri & Family !! thanks for sharing another awesome update and adventures on and off the homestead !! 👨🌾🎥👍✝

I could have sweared the baby said on minute 3:35 “ yeah a cat!”🤗😂😂😂
Art, keep a watch the hens will lay in the center of the bale. Have a good week!
Rodney Hendrix Ha! They certainly will won’t they! Those wild chickens!
Very nice .godbless your family .

cool shot of kitty's shadow on tripod at 8:30
Love you’re Video
Specially love your goats ♥️
Watching from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Sylhet Farm House Thank you!
That’s a great deal for $35. I paid $25 for 400 pound bales and $100-$125 for bales that weighed 1800-2500 pounds.
I knowticed pigs have there own attitude with you guys I think she likes you
It’s amazing how you guys dressed so lightly this time of year you must have beautiful weather?
Ev Palfy It was about 40 that day.
That trucker was having issues.
Hahaha @ the cat on the camera stand
$35??? What a deal!!! I wish I could get that!
If u will use rye grass it only needs contact to the ground to come up but more expense

You might want to consider removing the tailgate on your pickup when unloading round bales. Otherwise they get bent real bad.
i would like to know what variety of winter rye you use and where you bought it. We also live in Western NC and I need to sow a cover crop where my cows have been and destroyed a section of the pasture during the recent rains. Thank you!
The landscape is very similar to the Kootenys where I live in BC
Are you going to keep the buck
It's easy to forget how sweet kids are . . .
Hey that’s a lot a hay. 😁
Yup, that's what id do, IF I wanted to get a milk cow for the family. Selling it in the spring after the grass has come up, it will be bigger, and near ready to use by the buyer. Nice video. I do hope you found the young man's hat though............;O)
How long will that much hay last for? 🤔
Hay bale for $35? OMG. In November we probably pay $75 to $100 here in central Texas.
Another great video...is there anyway I could get the music to the acoustic guitar at the end of the video....Art is that you playing?
Oh if I could only begin again and be 40 years younger....... So much of life I never even knew existed. What a waste....

GOOD AFTERNOON FAMILY EUA TUDO DE BOM PARA VOCÊS
1:00 story of my life dude xD
And I was wondering were do you get your vlog music cause I love it
Epidemicsound.com. It's in the drop down information.
Thank you so much
Raking it as I saw you do it, the grass will all be in windrows.
i was thinking, probably best to just cast it huh.
Brownie like is that for me 😂😂😂
We pay $25 for a regular bale of grass hay! Like 75 lbs!
Ahhhhhh I never have been this early
You take that harrow that is leaning against the barn and go over the ground you've sown the grass in ital. do fine.
Please show that when it sprouts.
A bale like that here in Central Oregon runs 110$ :/ We have beautiful alfalfa too but it is going to cost you.
İs it enough for your animals
I get several large rounds a year. My BIL hays his fields we buy from him
Floppsy is very skinny I’m concerned about her health y’all should try to help her gain weight
PhantomGhost 63 She is well fed, wormed given minerals and has always looked like this. I try and try to fatten her up, but she continues this weight so I am figuring this is just the way she looks.
Did you decide to keep your pigs?
Daryl Mae Now that our fences are fixed and seem to be keeping the pigs in we may just keep them.
🙏❤️🙏
Not sure what it weighs, but not 1,000. I'm guessing 500. lol I have a bunch of cattle. And I can't even rock the rolls.
I wanted to see your trick. ;)
Lol, 25$, no $35. Who does all the work?
Why ypu gave away your smallesr goat
It's about 300lb max
