If you’re looking at raw stats, it’s not even close. Luka had better Pts/G, Reb/G, Ast/G, and efficiency than SGA, Brunson, and Ant. He’s stat line alone makes him 1st team all NBA if not regular season MVP. Come on man, stop judging people on how much melanin they happen to have or the neighborhood they happen to be raised in. Look at what really matters, the content of their stat lines.

After last year when Kendrick Perkins won the M.V.P. the whole system lost credibility. Yes Kendrick Perkins won the M.V.P. Award & gave it to Joel Embiid. If he doesn't win the M.V.P. award I hope they snub him from the first team all-NBA so people understand it's not about basketball & realize it's a 109% about him being White/European.
American NBA players and sports commentators are biased toward the physically talented young players. They think that to the MVP you need to have highlight dunks and a high percentage of three-point shoots. Basketball also requires skills in rebounding, dribbling, setting picks, passing, and most importantly being able to breakdown defenses. The European players are just more talented in all the skills that basketball requires. Jokic has been the MVP because of the all-round skills he has and also because the Nuggets have worn a championship. Luka will most likely not win the MVP until Dallas wins a championship and they force the biased voters to recognize his greatness.

Brunson even said that Luka was so good that he made him feel that he didn’t belong in the league when he was with the Mavs. Luka would toy with him in practice. It’s probably what has made Brunson the player he is today.

There is a camp that tracked stats like ability to accelerate. But there is also a stat about how quickly a play can put on the breaks. For that one he is second after curry. He may not be super fast but he’s a thick ass dude so he should be able to come to a stop that fast.

Luka not being athletic and the way that MJ and LeBron was hurt him in the way a lot of people view him. It also seems that those people cant seem to change that view. I say this because Wemby got the hype luka should have gotten. He got it because of his size and athleticism. When luka was getting drafted every one mentioned how slow he was and how European players don't tend to work out. Some even mocked his accomplishments that he earned in the second biggest league in the world by saying that its just the euro league. But they never did that with wemby. It did not matter that he played in the 7th biggest league in the world, and it did not matter that he played against lesser competition because of it. It also did not matter that he lacked accolades, because he was very athletic.

The not athletic stuff is exaggerated because of color. Luka is just athletic as say Paul Pierce was. It was the same with Larry Bird. After he hurt his back and couldn't move that well he had to quit. Running and jumping is part of basketball and all the great players can do it fairly well. I think his vertical was measured at 42" or somewhere around that. Totally fine for the NBA. I'd wager its better then a number of black players. Also african american guys can often have long arms. Thus they can play a bit bigger then their vertical.
You have to remember the reporting from the MLB playoffs last year. The media was making a big deal that there wasn’t enough “American Born” black players. NOTICE THEY WERE NOT BEING REFERRED TO AS AFRICAN AMERICAN IN THIS INSTANCE! That’s because the field was almost entirely black players but the players were from the Dominican Republic and Cuba. I really don't understand this MVP system - is it meant the most successful player of the year, the most dominant player of the year, the most flashy, the most marketable, or the player that brings the biggest added value to the team?

It's a specific type of racism among black folks as well when it comes to white people who are doing well in what has been categorized as traditionally 'black spaces' (whether what we're talking about is basketball, hip hop etc., and whether the hate is coming from black commentators or the average black fan). Here's specifically what I've noticed over the years. If someone is good enough to participate and maybe even be pretty good (ex: a white role player in the NBA or someone who's good enough to make the all-star game a couple years/ the #3 member of a championship Big Three) then they like him. But when it's a guy who's a legitimate threat to lead a team to a championship, win an MVP, become the best player in his era, then they hate that guy's guts. Was like that with Bird back in the day, it was the same with Dirk and Nash later on and it's the same with Jokic and Luka today.
