    If this powerbank discharged 86Wh and it’s down to 50%, than a full discharge will net you 172Wh, which is a remarkable 90% efficiency, which is about the same as my 737 PowerCore 24K.
    Since charging a MacBook is more than 99% efficient (from my testing with the M1 MacBook Air) after accounting for the losses in the charger, hypothetically this powerbank will charge your MacBook Pro 14” 2.4 times.
    However charging an iPhone and iPad (can’t speak for other phones) is only around 70% efficient, so worst case scenario, a 60% end to end efficiency means about 7 charges to a Pro Max iPhone and just under 6 to an iPad mini 6.

    Just as an FYI, you can get solar panels that have USB-C/PD out that you can use to recharge this bad boy, instead of the xt-60 connector style, and they are a lot cheaper. Of course, the downside is it will take up one of the USB-C ports. YMMV. I just got the 548 in the mail today, been doing a few tests throughout the evening, and I'm in love. I didn't mind the lower wattage charging overall, I just liked the form factor and that it has LiFePO4 cells over normal li-ion. I think this thing is going to be a tank for years to come for me personally.

      I agree. 27 watts output is fine while charging at 60 using a usb c input from solar. but I’m still gonna charge using that xt60 someday. Lol

      @@wwjoshdew A phone or a laptop sure. But anything else that you would need to live in a van If this is your main power source would not be able to be powered since there's no AC outlet, or the fact that it's only 192 watt hours. The ever Frost itself also has a 300 watt hour battery so this would only give it half a charge.

      @@LamoidZombieDogI agree.. this guy telling people if he lived van life he’d get it, yet clearly knows nothing about van life. you need a far bigger power station with AC plugs to run a fridge, heater etc. this battery bank is better for camping and power outages to charge small items.

    This is pretty nice but I will say spending alittle more for the 521 powerhouse would be the go to because you can dual charge using the usb c and have 110 outlets that do 200w which can power a tv and a Xbox one s if optimized for run time.

    .It has been confirmed by Anker that it does not work with their own solar panels, but to use other third party solar panels. For a power bank from anker with a solar plug in the front to not work with their own panels is shocking.

      I don't understand the reasoning to limiting it to 60 watts either. I think 100 would of been the sweet spot. But for my needs, 60 is just fine. If you need more than 60, Anker does make other battery banks. And you can do 87 all together if you use the 2nd type c port.

    Hey Josh, I just found you channel and I’m so glad I did! I’m a bit of a battery nerd myself but want to know more about watts, amps, and voltage when it comes to usb a, and c, micro usb and all other cables. Do you have a video on something like that? Plus, I just bought the Anker 548 Power Bank and was so glad to see your videos about it! That being said, I have one question; I hooked up my iPhone 12 Pro Max and I use a USB-C to lightning cable and it shows that I’m only getting about 6-9 Watts of charging. Is that normal for iPhones, or is it more of a cable issue? Thanks for any info you can provide! -Gregg (Winchester, VA)

    • @wwjoshdew
      @wwjoshdew  Год назад

      if your battery is at like 20 percent, it should charge at 20 watts. If it's at like 80 percent, then yeah... it will charge slow. also, there is a setting under BATTERY in the iphone that limits your charging speed. You can disable that and see if that's why it's going so slow. I don't have a video on watts, amps, and volts. Because I'm not educated in that stuff. @AllThingsOnePlace has much more info than I do on the intricates of charging.

    I was able to get an anderson to xt60 and use it with an older 120w blanket type portable solar panel.
    I also recently got a 120w EBL portable solar panel thats made up of 2 60w panels that link together and even though it has USB-C output, I definitely got better wattage over the anderson to xt60. The only downside I noticed with the unit is after having it a month the lantern stopped turning on.

    Leaving the screen on the MacBook on makes the test less accurate, since you’re running the MacBook and charging in the background. Best test is to charge from 0 worth MBP closed. Once charging stops, you’ve got a sense of how many charges. Good “real use” test, though.
