That triangle at 8:00 is a cam that wedges itself into the wall as load is applied to the bridge. It's freaking genius and beautiful to watch. It's basically acting like the rocker in pushrod suspension.
Edit: Also note they left a quad instead of solid triangles below the outside road pieces, so it can deform while the cam is rotating but still hold the road up. It's such a gorgeous solution.
Correct. I think a mechanical engineer made that bridge😆
@@vinitfirke2201 Yeah probably. They definitely knew what they were doing, that's for sure.
polybridge players sometimes invent stuff on their own, this might be a result of trying to get rid of a piece. But most likely that man is just smart
i knew the rotation was driving the wedge into the wall. i thought that was obvious, surprised matt didn't understand that. i didn't know it was a mechanical engineer thing.
@takumi2023 maybe you should look into being a mechanical engineer. Might be a career path with an easy to comprehend education for ya haha
You should try to get top % in least stress, it's a totally different challenge as you have to make sure every single piece is properly supported.
Ye, IMO that's what a good engineer wants. It seems silly to want the cheapest possible design instead of the best strength under budget.
That's what I was hoping this video was from the title tbh, i think it would be a nice change of pace
@@hvm2hvmeven though its a game and thats usually the goal is to make it cheap i still think he should do this as it would be entertaining to see how he manages to pull it off
without busting the budget, yeah that'd be awesome and actual engineering.
I’m just adding another comment so RCE knows the people want to see this lol
I really don't give the editor enough credit for how much the background music guides us through Matt's journey. 🥰
I don't think matt would want you crediting his editors...
@@sumynona.01lol
@@sumynona.01as a person also named Matt I disagree with this statement’s
Lmao the editors by far don’t get enough credit. I’ve fallen for Matt but there is no way in hell it would happen without those dudes killing it
I'm just glad they've started using different songs. He used the same fkin song for every video for years 😂 in fact I know of a couple different RUclipsrs who use the same song. If you've heard it YOU KNOW THE SONG IM TALKING ABOUT
A bridge "engineer" in Canada had his bridge collapse an hour after it opened. This is the 5th time its bridges have been investigated. you should make his bridges in this game.
What engineer/bridge?? I’m Canadian and somehow have zero clue who you’re talking about lmao
@@CeledonianError well, Canada's huge, so that might explain it
As for the Cylinders and the "Zombey" in the Gallery, that is a very cool German RUclipsr who also plays Polybridge.
Yep, though the translation for Zylinder is top hat
Zombey is a german youtuber that also started playing polybridge but more casually than you do.
His "trademark" is his purple top hat (and sometimes suit)
If you wonder what that "Zombey" Text in one of the Level was. Its a german RUclipsr called Zombey. And the "Box" under it is supposed to be a cylinder hat: his distinguishing feature
Try the least stress challenge, also it's often the 5-10% which is proper engineering and 5-1% are often cheese or riggity stuff
Aliensrock literally just made a leaderboard comeback…
RCE really can’t let that slide, can he?
Aliensrock is better than him. RCE can do actual engineering but Aliensrock has him beat at cheese.
maybe but so far it's looking like RCE's cracked out more cheese in this showdown@@farshnuke
@@farshnuke 3:39 has me doubting the "real engineering" LOL
@@zphayde I was being kind. My point is that Aliensrock is far better at Polybridge 3.
@@MrLinkDay I mean I do believe he is a failed architect and his hatred is jealousy lol
Ayyyyy, finally made the gallery review! (I'm "Pimp Daddy Long Legs" at 9:14). And RCE shouted out my real life poly bridge project video a while back. I'm starting to think buying a shirt was great karma for me. Cheers!
snorkel paddy is very impressive indeed.
RCE breaking for Allan's Dong overload is funny - Matt promissed we will see it in pretty much every video and eventualy turned it into his signature. Basicaly i support people playing with their strongest shapes and or concenting partner's for great fun.
26:30
Max stress 99.69%
Perfectly engineered
For the wall braces at 7:34, I assume the wood triangles are on the braces so that the bridge can flex more easily. The bridge is designed to bend and flex, so without those triangles and having a more stiff brace like yours, the compressive force between the solid wall and the bridge would be dealt by the wood itself. By having those wood triangles there, they create extra nodes so that the brace can fold a bit more without snapping and handle the bridge's bending.
Can we appreciate this mans dedication to big braining games for our entertainment?
Every day‘s a good day after some RCE propaganda 😊
We already do though
@@thunderbuttocks28ye
No we can't
looking forward to the next “taking back dildobike’s scores” it’s gonna be a tough one
the wall braces on the one are designed to switch to use tension when the truck is over it and pressing down on that side and when the truck is on the far side give compression so the other side can be tension. it's just a brilliant little mechanism.
You showed my bridge @ 9:30. :). Glad I gave you a chuckle. Edit: And at 23:00. Keep doing the lord's work, keeping the architects down.
That 1st bridge triangle thingy that you didnt understand is basically a "Rocker Arm" and automobile engineers use it as a suspension connecting Wheels A-arms to the piston, its not used in commerical cars but in Formula Style Race cars. Now thats a bridge that only a Mechanical Engineer can make! An Engineer nevertheless😤
That was really cool! It's like F1 suspension because it has to be laid out widthwise instead of vertically.
Day nine of asking Matt to add the Second Narrows Bridge, Ironworkers Memorial to the Wheel of Bridgetune
It is a cantilevered truss bridge, carrying 6 lanes of traffic from Vancouver to North Vancouver in B.C. across the second narrowing of the Burrard Inlet.
It's name comes from the fact that it collapsed twice during construction, which unalived 23 people in total (Hence the name, ironworkers memorial).
The flip the the car made near 12 minutes was insane, the wheels made it spin forwards and it had a perfect landing
I'm not surprised that that cover was funny. I've come to expect that. What does surprise me is how freaking good it was. I want to make that my ringtone
its bugging me, do you know what the original song was that he covered??

"Can I get rid of the steel? That WOOD be game changing." 😎 Binging these has their moments.
Matt, the wall braces on the cheapest one works like the rear suspension of various racing cars. The further down the bridge pushes, the harder the triangle presses into the wall because of the rotation. Whoever built that one was a real-ass engineer, or they got really lucky. I would pretty much have to go looking for what else they built to know the difference , and I haven't, so I don't know.
(Four link suspension is one of the things I'm talking about)
22:30 Zombey! nice
20:27 Sometimes my genius is... it's almost frightening
Found you recently watching CS2 videos and ive been laughing ever since. Cheers!
Even RCE is celebrating beating matt! 😂
Would love to see you tackle lowstress. It's trickier than it seems!!
I hope the editor has health insurance. Can't imagine getting a couch thrown at is good for your health
Very surprised Double Back didn't have any cat flap solutions to the left side. Maybe it would scrape the rally car off of the flat bed early?
I’m 14 and even I understand how the wall braces of the 8:10 bridge work,I mean the triangles, the weight of the truck and tre bridge presses a peace of wood, which is connected to the triangle down, that presses the triangle against the wall, what keeps the wall up
i would love a video where RCE just grades people bridges. Like give the community a challenge bridge then a review all those bridges on like realism, uniqueness, practicality and such.
I reaaaaaally enjoy when you try your best to be top 1%!
6:39 and here we can hear Matt communicating with our ancestors 😂
The song Engineering through the night.... Top 10 Billboard Incredible all time greats Hall of fame award. 11/10 110%
I think the thing with the first bridge in the gallery you viewed with the weird wall braces was giving the pieces the ability to flex without crushing the wood.
Notice how the triangular wall braces kinda pivot back and forth? I’m guessing that’s how they got away with it. Your wall braces were not able to compress, so they would break if they got squashed too hard.
His braces pivot along the corner of the triangle (and the anchor up top also looks like it rotated to provide extra length so the pieces up there didn’t break from over extension) so the entire bridge can sag and move without breaking any of the supports it looks like.
24:23 😂engineering in the moonlight
5:16 in your face matt 😂
The song is called 'Dancing in the Moonlight' for those who don't know.
I feel like pro'ly not that many people know the song being parodied... 'Dancing in the moonlight' by Top Loader
That’s one of the most obvious ones he’s did…
22:31 That's the name of a German RUclipsr who also plays this game.
9:18 "Where do those cables go?"
HOW DID THEY USE CABLE?!
22:40
I believe the german RUclipsr „Zombey“ is also doing Poly bridge 3
Just a little Funfact:
The other Propaganda you saw at the "highest Budget" option
(The "Zombey" and the huge top hat)
Is a german RUclipsr called Zombey who is currently doing Polybridge as well and his community does Propaganda as well :3
(I find it very cool that in his videos I see your Propaganda in the gallery and in your video I see his propaganda)
When rce sees a working bridge: "its literally my bridge, only 50k cheaper, not a big deal"
The wall braces on the first one are rotating so that the angles are better throughout
I think it lets the bridge flex but still keep contact with the wall🤔 8:00 *
I think that was my favorite song montage so far this series
Ship graveyard simulator 2 was released yesterday, and will have coop mode later this year, maybe you can take Tyler and see who's the best once and for all, lol
At around 15:00, you mention wood being lighter than steel. In the previous Poly Bridge games, I think I remember that different types of material don't affect the structure's weight, rather, it is the joints that actually affect weight. That is, more joints = more weight. Did Poly Bridge 3 "fix" that? Does steel actually weigh more than wood now?
Van Morrison is rolling in his grave with that one. Hahaha love it!
Watching Matt do hydraulic lvls I wonder how am not an engineer but he is... am just a poor construction worker who has to fix architects and engineers mistakes... those poor artistic souls have no idea how the real world works... from imaginary low gravity to unreasonable timelines or impossible designs it's like making a spoiled child happy....still love his videos
Why are the montages so good that I'd want them on Spotify
I never expected my shit-eating grin to be this enormous hearing Matt make an engineering montage from my favorite song of all time
just out of interest, which version of the song is your favourite? mine is king harvests
@@TheBatteryCat Same! Though I enjoy both versions.
Alan... you are a legend.
Play ark pls, it is a Dino game where you can tame Dino’s and construct buildings. On the map Ragnarok there is even a enormous old bridge over a canyon
Your poly bridge vids are my favorite. But if you want another engineering game to play try WORLD OF GOO on mobile. Truss me, it’s an architect’s nightmare.
22:47 At least you'll have a couch to sleep on. XDDDDDD
You should try to make India's tallest railway bridge
The Chenab Bridge
India is now home to the world's tallest railway bridge. Some 29 meters (over 95 feet) taller than the Eiffel Tower, the Chenab Bridge sits 359 meters (around 1,180 feet) above the Chenab River in India's contentious Jammu and Kashmir region
Oh yeah! New Poly Bridge Video!
WOW, so nice of RCE to give his editor free furniture
The song this time really felt like it came from the heart, Matt is becoming a soulful singer (Hate fuled)
22:47 love your editor 😂😂😂
Random recomendation you could do a video where you build famous bridges but have multiple gaps in the custom map/level and for each gap you build a different bridge bonus challenge try to make them not break
On the first bridge I think the triangles on the wall braces make the bridge able to flex and move a bit solving the problem you had where yours exploded making you use steel
22:41 it’s a cylinder, a symbol of a german youtuber called zombey who also plays pb3, so it’s kind of like the rce propaganda but for him :)
26:32 NOICE STRESS
We genuinely need an album from RCE cause I would totally listen to some of those songs.
Honestly tho
Hello appreciate your work
That “Alan” gets me everytime
"That was a bird strike!" 🤣🤣
I love the squirrel screaming allen 😂
I've always wondered how many "fellow engineers" are actually around here.
Like this comment if you're technically speaking an engineer. I'm just an audio engineer, but I'm gonna say that still counts. lol
My studies technically teach me genetic engineering, so maybe...
@@a.w.4708 That totally counts. Super interesting stuff!
Yo work very hard to get to these achievements fair play to you
I appreciate the time and effort you take for your montage music
Distinct lack of beavers...
This probably has nothing to do with bridging but pullys would be fun in this game.
I'm very happy with my own score on CS-02 $46,877 with a completely different design. I didn't lift the ends of the bridge :)
That did not feel like 30 minutes good job
Why: German RUclipsr Zombey who plays Polybridge more casually has a top hat as his trademark.
Didnt ask
@@xyangst Well, except for RCE. He asked at 22:42
Plz do the Tilikum crossing bridge from Portland Oregon
This guy does the best content
Excellent song on this one Matt!
09:40 looks like a heart ngl
Nobody talking about how good the song is? 😂
the best part of the day is the moment rce uploads
22:38 im from germany and i saw it and thought... ZOMBEY?!
sir, when can we expect an album of all these songs?
Put this one on the number 1 position because up to now it is my favorite.
I feel these bridges need more glass, if we can get that going it'd be great. The client is on board, if you could make that happen?
Next time you need a song for a hydraulic level in which you refuse hydraulics, might I suggest “Love Song” by Sara Bareilles. Don’t know why it enetered my head but the lyrics rewrite themselves.
its always nice to see matt struggle to beat 9 year olds at the thing he specializes in
That please standby after reading the lies had me rolling, imagining the swearing and yelling about how false the claim is.
Ok..we all wonder if he is a virtual civil engineer now!!.
Love the song i want a full version
I don’t know y but theses vids are relaxing for me
11:08 Is this level a retelling of the movie Cars?
The race car drives off the lorry and meets the camper?
Hand down the best engineering track to date! When does the album hit the street?
Video idea: Beat Aliensrock on every level... in max stress. Real engineers value that safety factor.
I *really * enjoyed the top 1% idea.
Play Hello Engineer, please. By the way, love the videos keep up the good work
The green car made a sick landing!
