I really like how close this game has to building real civil engineer structures. 1. here is a problem 2. I solved a problem 3. well I did not, it broke, good it was just a simulation 4. now I solved it and it holds 5. oh no, it is too expansive, investors are not happy 6. I made it cheaper, and it broke 7. Okay, now it is cheaper and it holds... barely 8. nobody is happy, lets build it!
19:37 The reason it didn't break was because the tops of the trusses were rope and cable which made it flexible. Since yours was steel it didn't have the flex it needed when the forces flipped so all the force got put through the road instead of the truss. Edit: It could also be the hydraulics. If you slow it down and look at the second hydraulic (the one not touching the wall), it activates right at the end and seems to act as a cusion to slow it down.
I imagine I'm not only but the game itself that your playing does not intrest me half as much as your commentary. You're just a lot of fun to hear! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face

I did some sleuthing, and it seems Arglin is one of the level designers for Poly Bridge 2 lol, explains a lot! (And yes they have a youtube channel showing this kinda stuff off, they love it!)
sometimes I just sit there silently screaming the solution to myself while I wait 4 iterations for Matt to catch on... and I wouldn't have it any other way
sometimes I have an idea of what to do in the game, despite not having played much PB3, but I know what usually works and what doesn't, and Matt needs to befriend all the different materials, and just assume wood will never stay up, pretty much. Most of these levels make some sense, in terms of physics, but actual bridges would be way more engineered. PB3 probably cannot simulate lateral stress when it comes to the force you could make the bridge exert by being leaned and anchored at both ends. But these are the last three levels of this game, which doesn't pride itself on absolute realism, but I do like the stress mechanics.

20:29 Turns out PB3 is a cylindrical world, who would ever guessed that? (Since things drop at the bottom does not reappear at the top, it is sadly not a torus.)
Does anyone else think that Matt was the type of kid in school to remind the teacher of homework from the day before or something. I’m also on a new quest to get a bathtub in the basement for editors. The things I’d do to lie in a warm bath with a rubberducky named Kevin after a long day of my ears bleeding from listening to Matt’s voice.
After you finish the campaign, you should try to do a collab with Arglin to learn about all the hydraulic movement -- if nothing else, the mind melting would be entertaining.
I think, the chepeast solution of the last one did actually break in the end, but the break happened, after the last Checkpoint was being triggered, hence the breakage wasn't registered anymore.
So the problem with architects: They want you to build their fantasies just because they 'look good' no matter if it's possible or not even if its absolutely not practical. The problem with engineers: They can't see for god's sake 15:03

You should give Master Mode a try! it's a bit easier than pb2's Master Mode and a lot of wacky fun Since it's a workshop campaign don't feel compelled to beat every level under budget and unbreaking, just playing it is enough of a challenge :)
Ive watched Poly Bridge videos for years, I even have Poly Bridge 2 and enjoy playing it, but everyone should be extremely grateful I am a wrench monkey not a civil engineer.
The cheap hydraulic levels don’t break because the hydraulics contract again after reaching the highest point, slowing the momentum of the entire bridge.
I agree. The car having to drive for about five minutes in fast-forward is a bit cheeky. PB3 is more entertaining, and probably educational (I used a different piece of software to test bridges, but it wasn't fun), but I would like to see a design that's underbudget and looks to defy physics.

This is why we have government (taxes) pay for essential infrastructure, because if investors did it we'd all die.

What you really want from bridgebuilding is something that holds just long enough for one car to get barely over it.
