- The Sangean PR-D18 AM FM Stereo portable radio is a joy to use during the evening hours. The D18 reminds me of the D19's reception on the MW. The D18 responds well with the use of a passive loop. A good combo to have on hand if you enjoy late night AM broadcasts.

Overall I am very impressed by the FM and AM capability of this small portable. A quality build with many color choice makes this a radio worth checking out. The clock with dual alarm functions just adds that extra bit of functionality to put this radio over the top.

I purchased the stereo version of this radio the PR-D19 and its AM reception is stellar day and night. This one seems to match the 19 in sensitivity and selectivity. The 19 also responds well to a loop antenna. DXing happiness is hearing AM skip starting as early as 3:30 in the afternoon this time of year, I start hearing WCBS in New York and WBZ in Boston around that time each day, and can also receive a good signal from these and several Chicago area stations up until around 8:30 each morning. The ionosphere is very active in conducting distant signals during the fall and winter. During the day I can also receive Zoomer Radio CFZM from Toronto with a very listenable signal. That's 311 miles from my home in Northeast Ohio. Other daytime finds are WLW and KDKA. Your radio reviews are the best.
I took both of them apart and they had the same size internal ferrite antenna. The quality of the onboard components was top shelf.
If the radios had a LMS Adaptive Filter the static could be removed as it would use the noise from a non linear RNG to leave just the wanted signal.
What I enjoy doing for PM MW band-scans is to see how many Clear Channel stations that I can hear and compare with my other radios. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clear-channel_station

I know of some Sangeans that fit the bill, they just alert you to weather events, they don't display them. The PR-D9W is a decent sized one. Does well on all three bands. ruclips.net/video/SUkk46k0wgM/видео.html
