- The Sangean PR-D12 AM FM Stereo NOAA Weather Alert Portable Radio is the Best of the Best when it comes to FM Reception. Now on the AM band we discover this receiver has auto tuning to help pull in those faint signals. A USB upgrade jack in the battery compartment may hopefully be useful to the end user who wants to change the factory firmware from home. I employ the use of the Terk Advantage Passive Loop with Excellent results during this Daytime AM Band Scan.

Overall, I am impressed with its FM performance, and happy with the decent AM reception as well. Sangean designed an interesting radio here. A future revision with a handle, bass/treble control, and 1kHz tuning would be ideal. A simple firmware upgrade could add a few of those options.

Got my PR-D4W via your link about a week ago and absolutely love it on medium wave. Thank you. It beats my gigantic Sangean U3 by far. Had my heart set on a C Crane 2e but read about it overloading if you live very close to a strong AM tower. The PR-D4W is perfect for my location. This new radio here is very tempting, I like the updated features. Thank you for everything you do for the radio community!

Hey Todderbert! Earlier this year, I made my first short radio play called The Radio That Won't Turn Off. Synopsis: A young girl Ursula who wants a Sancrane multi band radio for her birthday, but there's one particular old and depressing sounding song that keeps playing on the radio, even if you tuned to different radio stations or just have the radio off completely. I'm also trying to make it into a short film as well. I came up with the idea "The Radio That Won't Turn Off" back in 2019 when I was listening to an older version of Stormy Weather on my local radio station (WCRS 1450AM). I’m starting to carry my ccpocket on my DayHikes due to spotty cellphone coverage. Carried in a shoulder-pocket I can hear it &/or control volume.
Have you ever reviewed a radio that was either disappointing or just outright bad? I want to watch that review.
