A joy to listen to you Justice Nariman. The clarity of your thinking and phrasing, the pace of your delivery, the detailed and accurate historical knowledge of your chosen subjects and personalities, are very rare. All your lectures and talks should be preserved for posterity in print and electronic form, along with the the videos. Thank you.

Razia's own coins refer to her as Sultan and the use of the word Sultana is a misnomer. Brilliant lecture ! Respect!

    Bible,Rig Veda,Persian Texts.
Conveniently left out one particular religion that is way more misogynistic than all others combined. Nice.

Maharani Tarabai was nothing less to these great women. Probably, there is very less written material/ novels on her so.. remains unsung..

Respected Sir, I have a doubt i. e., when in a civil or criminal trial an objection can be given? After asking the question by the Lawyer of other side or after answering the particular question by the witness?

You mentioned the sale of papacy and the sale of Roman Empire but there was a sale in our country also when the British sold Jammu and Kashmir to Maharaja Gulab Singh for 72 lakh rupees. Kashmiris have this " distinction" of having been bought by their ruler what we in Urdu call "Zar Khareed Ghulam" and we continue to be so till now.

So do you know the difference between invaders and nationalists. Invaders get thrown out in India unlike the Christian west and Muslim nations. We defeated our invaders. Not sure as a Parsi living in India having lost his persia Mesopotamia Iran what he can. Thankyou India.

    Hon'ble Nariman Sir
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. No doubt you are like pole star in the legal field. But you should not poke your nose in field of 'DHARMA' (not religion). Particularly, while discussing 'VEDAS' or interpretation of Vedas because your knowledge about Vedas is superfluous based on Google translation or translation / interpretation by some so called Western scholars like Max Muller and Ralph T Griffith etc. and these people don't know even ABC of Vedic Sanskrit.
As interpreted by the Vedic scholar, verse says that heart of woman is fickle or mercurial (CHANCHAL) but no mention of 'Hyena' as interpreted by Western/Google scholar.

The learned judge begins with a hymn from the Rig Veda. I think his understanding of the import of the Rig Veda (other Vedas too) is incomplete and therefore not at all erudite, even as we accept his scholarship in many other areas. Viewers of this video may also like to read Women in Rig Veda - Lesson drawn for Modern Women

Delhi University for a balanced perspective of the status of women in the Vedic period. The tradition of Swayamvara (choosing her man, allowed for girls/women) is but one facet of this perspective. It is indeed unfortunate that a judge of his stature, should be making statements without studying texts like the Vedas in their totality. It is a bit disappointing to say the least, for admirers who have respect for his knowledge of Constitutional Law and Western music. Also, why be selective in citing from the great religions of the world in trying to depict that they were all biased against women, by ignoring a major young faith altogether ? Selective interpretations of a sharp mind ?
