As somebody that has processed Russian captives for the International Legion, the single largest recruitment technique according to those captives are the house and land grants being promised to them by the Russian Ministry of Defense. These land grants are both in their home area and in captured Ukraine. The pays for service shown in the video are not too far off, I can show you the actual paychecks of Russian recruits if you want to see them. Also, these reports need to stop with only mentioning Wagner, there are at least a dozen different Russian PMCs in Ukraine. And while Wagner might be the largest, it’s NOT the majority. Russich Group and Slavovik Corps have neatly just as large a presence. ENOT, MAR, Redut, and Patriot are major players too.

The equipment was basic. AK 74's and a nice cloth uniform. Some surplus ammo and just a tiny bit of special ammo.
One of his co-workers shot one of those expanding bullets through his head. Tiny hole at the front, big chunk of ground meat in the back. The man had gone insane and decided to commit suicide. Nobody really gave a sh*t.

All non Russians that are fighting for Russia has done so due to a lack of money/jobs in their home country, one statistic (for Somalia I think) was that a normal job in that country is around $50 a month while the Russian army is paying $2000 a month, that kinda pay attracts a lot of desperate people, however most cases these foreigners don't speak Russian or even read Russian, some Japanese and Chinese volunteers have to use apps like Google translate to communicate with their Russian officers. Some African volenteers speak English/French while the Russians try to figure out what they are saying by use of finger gestures. Russia has also distributed these non Russians throughout the Russian military rather than in a battalion/division akin to the french foreign legion where they also have to learn the nation they are serving language and writing system, so some Russian frontline groups just have a random African/Asian who don't know them, their language or culture.

there is a huge diffrence between Ukraines Prisoner Volunteers and Russias Prisoner battalions.
Firstly Ukraines Prisoners dont get amnesty but decrease of time , Education, same salary as their counterparts who wasnt in prison.
Sexual, Murder corruption and other more serious crimes are automaticly not allowed to join.
There was a couple of Convicted Murderes who was angry at the Ukraine military for not allowing them to join even without them getting anything back for it.
Their reasoning was That they would be usefull as sacrifical troops for extreamly dangerous defence or attacks necessary to sacrifice troops to save civilian life.
They also said that it was better to use them then young kids who had not done anything and thus Ukraines future.
Ukraines military said they were thankfull for their willingness to serve but as of now they would not change the rules.
There was also Prisoners who clearly said they would not volunteer.
Most of them clearly stated due to fear of death and also fear of not getting adequate training and gear.
Id say Ukraines Prisoner troops are getting better treatment then Russian top troops.

The thought of what happens to veterans after this war ends whatever way it does is pretty scary. Not discounting how egregiously the vets themselves will be underserved for mental and physical injuries, but what bringing those people home whom feel like they've been left to rot on the front lines by their government will do to Russian society. The norms that they've become so used to, the carnage and mistreatment of civilians, it's gonna be absolutely brutal for civilians, especially women in Russian society. And i have a feeling it will all be swept up in the notion of "he's a vet, let him go".

We had issues during the big buildup during the war in Vietnam. I was drafted in September of 1966. And I didn't know it at time, because I was just a draftee. And according to our First Sergeant. "You don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. You make me want to vomit."
We didn't know it at the time. But there was a huge number of guys running around. Equipment thought was not an issue.
Companies were much bigger back in 1966 when I got drafted, Basic Training and AIT Companies anyway. I was in E-14-4 at Fort Knox. And my platoon had somewhere between 100 and 125 guys. Company formations were huge by todays standards. September of 66 was the biggest call of the war. And it was showing. We wound up in World War II barracks. Even AIT locations were over-run privates. Every time I hear descriptions of the numbers in companies and battalions these days. I can help but think back to those company formations back in the day. And you should how great a platoon of that many guys sounds calling cadence. A different time - former 92B10!

Like, they didn’t think they were invading their cousins house. I remember one of some soldiers in a town and the residents being clearly upset. And this soldier seeming almost just as confused and just asking the townspeople to stay calm, and they’d figure out what’s going on…. My point is that a lot of these Russian soldiers didn’t believe they were actually invading and subjugating their neighbors. It seemed obvious when watching those, these troops would never have volunteered to do that to their Ukrainian neighbors. They loved Ukrainians….. I wonder where those soldiers are now and how they feel about how it’s all unfolded

Russia has never cared for the common Russian citizen .In the days of the czar the aristocracy was put in cushy jobs in the military and the govt., where theft, corruption, incompetence made the ruling class even richer and kept the populace poor to the point where Russians were called the last serfs in europe and made the revolution of 1917 possible. The socialist govt that took the place of the czar continued the abuse against the citizen. In theory under socialism all are equal. Reality is the rulers of socialism have luxury while the commoner is lacking the basics. The Russian troops suffered miserably during ww1 and ww2 as the party elite prospered while collecting graft and corruption. Today ..........nothing has changed. When Russia realized that capitalism was more efficient than communist state control the socialist rulers gave industries to the party elite and the gangsters who support the govt. This is why we see so much ineptitude and incompetence in the Russians army. The same old graft and corruption that is part of Russian life is depriving soldiers of vital supplies. Its very easy for thieving bureaucracy to check a box saying a soldier has had training or been issued equipment......... not doing it.......and pocketing the money. Thak god russia is so corrupt. This will stop Russia from taking back Ukraine .......and taking back countries that were once part of the ussr.......
