Thank you SO much for this! Such an easy DIY and 100% doing what I hoped it would! This saved me so much figuring out. I wish youtube allowed pictures in comments so I could show what I did!
yeah I thought about adding captions.... but I figured most of it was pretty obvious. Like the tape and chopsticks. Then it was just tissue paper, latex, and acrylic craft paints. Plus the epoxy glue for the nails. I put a full list in the description.
Oh yeah, with some slight changes to the finger shape, this would work great for killer clown hands. Tho I think they had 3 fingers, so you'd have to tape two finger together.
Love this so much!!! I'm making my son a wendigo costume for Halloween and thought I'd check this out for inspiration. Amazing job!!! I hope this gets tons of views!!!!!
Cool. You can also use this same technique with the wire and chopsticks and sponges, to make antlers that are lightweight. Just do a groove pattern with the latex and cotton instead of skin wrinkles.
@@DarkNookShop Thank you for the advice!!! I have real antlers I'm planning on using, but if they don't work out I'll definitely give that a try!! They're not heavy though so hopefully they'll be all good.
That''s liquid latex rubber. Everything else is pretty obvious... chop sticks, duct tape, garden wire, masking tape, tissue paper and sponge. Then acrylic paint mixed with the liquid latex rubber.
Instead of music you should narrate on what you're doing and using to make these gloves! A lot of laymen won't know what you're doing I'm pretty sure you're using liquid latex when you were painting the glove but a lot of people won't know that and you don't explain it at all!
This is really helpful, thank you so much for sharing. I need to make one for our Halloween event. One question though, is there any substitute if I don't have a liquid latex?
Not really. I mean there are other ways to make gloves out of other materials, but they're more complicated and/or more expensive. You might be able to use glue, but it won't be flexible
Hand like this would generally be part of a larger costume... there's lots of tricks to hide the seam or connect it to a sleeve. The point of this video was more about the really dirt cheap way to achieve pretty good finger articulation in a big monster hand.
Amazing! I can't believe your dog let you pet him! My cats freak out if I try to pet them with monster gloves on! It would have been helpful to have on screen instructions, especially after the masking tape part, but still very cool!
Thanks... if you have any questions about the process, feel free to ask. After the masking tape, it's latex and tissue paper, then latex mixed with acrylic paint.

I'm working on a monster hand and thinking this is the best technique to use - but I want to extend the glove all the way up the arm...any suggestions for how to make it go further up?
There are several ways to do this. You can just continue from the tape phase and build out more with strips of duct tape and then just extend the process for the hand, up the arm. Or you can make a separate sleeve using basically the same process, but on nylons instead of a work glove.
This may just be cause I’m dumb, but it’s hard to tell when you use liquid latex or white paint. Otherwise great video, I already ordered the materials yesterday.
Yes the masking tape will reduce movement, but how much depends on how the gloves fit and how tight you wrap the tape. Note at one point I cut the tape along the side of the palm with scissors? That's to loosen it up. Also, the sponges help provide a little wiggle room too... the thing is you have to wrap them in tape gently, and not compress them too much.
