On this night in KISStory, Peter Criss was "unable to play," and was thus replaced by his drum tech, Ed Kanon, who wore his costume and facepaint. The final KISS taboo is broken setting the stage for the future...
LineUp: Ed Canon, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley
gene sounds sinister in this version, love it
Paul wrote it! Gene made it his's song!!
Gene made it better.
This was the only concert that Peter missed on the whole reunion tour, I remember when they dropped the curtain and I saw Peter I was like...Dang Peter cut his hair and gained some weight. lol Then they announced it was his drum tech.
People who complain about it not being a "solo" just don't get it.
It's a show.
Suspension of disbelief and the energy of a live show, it's easy to be cynical when sitting at the computer or the couch.
+awesomefanger Exactly.
Genes sounds like a sinister demon monster from hell !
after 5 years I'll add that even Gene doesnt consider himself a good bass player....so if you think he sucks playing bass, probably he thinks that of himself too lol
I love gene Simmons bass solo's, they are so awesome like this one.
I saw this tour in Peoria, IL in '97....great show. What's crazy to me is I thought they looked old then since I was only 17. I do remember that during Ace Frehley's solo when he shot the rocket from his guitar, it hit an stagelight and it came crashing to the stage.
Montage Matador I was at this show in Columbus. It was a great show.
It was a prop explosion 💥
They did that at most shows around that time. I remember being 17 and not being able to go to the Indy show, and my friend came back all excited and said "Ace shot one of the lights out!!!"
We didn't know it was planned. But then another friend of mine saw them on the same tour, either Louisville or Cincy, I cant remember. But he came back all excited and said "Ace shot the lights out..." Then we kinda figured out that it was a gimmick.
This is a bass solo, more if a shock rock intro to god of thunder, gene is a better bass plyer than most people give him credit for, listen to early kiss and you hear cool bass patterns
mooch514 nah
Robert Murdock + Gene can play the bass. Just listen to his music from 74-77 and you will hear it. Nah. What are you stupid or stuck in the ghetto.
@@PerpetualArt Nah. He's not very good. Especially from 74-77. 5 thumbs on each hand.
@@PerpetualArt Don't be sore, though. I like their makeup. One's a cat, one's a pig, one's a rat, and one's a goat. I get it.
Robert Murdock + Don't be sore? What are you from a leave it to Beaver episode. Okay Wally.
Gene Simmons from the 70’s took over his body here.
@FlinkenFour It's recorded straight from the soundboard. The onstage mics never pick up the crowd. My wife and I were at this show. Columbus crowds are loud and rowdy!
I was there too!!
August 1st I will get to see kiss and motly crew in concert :D
For some reason the guitars sound really good. (Rich) !
Ooh yeah !! Hmm Ooh yeah Chuck in the house lemme hear yeah!!
Oh yeah!
Da zeigt Gene Simmons ja ein richtiges pantomimisches Talent!
The demon came out of gene , and it sang a verse
It was very loud! I was off to his right!
lol he looks the same durin that solo as in the 70s! hah good ol Gene so consistent...
i think that they never should/shall edit the crowd away, i think that if u do that it takes away the live feeling
It’s not edited out this is a board mix
As it very well should be
Ed Kanon: splash
How do you be a drum tech and have no feel whatsoever?
Drum tech had no feeling his drumming weak at best
6:45 ed kanon!
why was Peter not able to play?
meli mouse he had carpal tunnel syndrome in his arms so he couldn’t play
@themelimouse7 He had pain in his arms or something
At 646 a demon came out of gene and sang a verse !
I remember this tour. My wife and I went to it when they came to Sioux Falls, SD. At that time I thought it was one of the coolest things ever, now I realize Gene just sucks as a bass player......
He is Peter?
A demon came out of gene and it sang a verse
too much blood this time, gene
This is bull. Not even a bass solo just playing an open E string every 8 counts or so and spitting out blood isn't impressive Gene sucks when it. Comes to bass solos the songs are good just not his so called solo
This solo is better than the Asian guy in Dream Theater.
You do realize what he's doing is called showmanship , he's doing more of performing and putting on a show then focusing on his technical skills and that crowd obviously loved it , how could you not?? It's a demon spitting blood floating in the air.
