For you who wonder how he do the perspective grid: Its the polygon tool (U) in photoshop set the sides to 99 and use the pulldown tab, click "star" than under "indent sides" set your value to 99 percent hope this helps
I think this is a very good way to do things if you are still learning about values and getting the lighting right. Another tip is to add a layer filled in with 100% black on top of all other layers, and set the layer to Saturation. This is a handy way to check that values are right and that it still reads well by just turning the layer on every now and again :)
Fantastic work! I love to watch these kinds of videos, because even though there is no commentary and the vid is sped up, I still learned so much. This is very inspiring stuff, I can't wait to get started on my next piece!
Doing a lot of color studies, such as from life and photographs, will help you a lot and train your eye to better see colors in a more observant way. It'll come with time for sure, and eventually it'll become second nature to you, like everything else. Not sure I answered you're question but just my two cents. Also the color wheels are your best friend.
good to see you posting again. weird how long it took to merge down the perspective lines. that kind of thing drives me up the wall when I paint. anyway, did I see you using dodge?
You can use an image of a perspective grid. Here he used two for the two point perspective and scaled them the way he wanted. This way is much easier than created the grids over and over again and less blurry than using a grid brush.
My god man, you're amazing. I bought a tablet in ambition to become as good as artists like you, though I'm shit haha. Would you ever consider including 1080p+ res images in your portfolio to use as wallpapers. Because I see some truly amazing pictures on your portfolio.
+Fran Cobas Rotating the image or 'flipping' it gives the artist a new angle to look at their work. If something doesn't look right mirrored it's wrong the other way around as well. An artist's eye can get used to perspective mistakes while you're making your piece, by flipping the canvas you get a fresh look at your art and you tend to notice 'mistakes' or things you want to change.
great video! now we need another 20 hours to polish the details, add more curve layers to boost contrast, chromatic aberration, color-management, colour lookup layers, maybe add some match-color layers to harmonize, and post-processing in general
This is awesome. Only one thing bothers me, and that is that you painted the castle in two-point perspective. On such an immense and tall structure, from that point of view, you would see the towers rise toward a vanishing point high in the sky, not perfectly vertical and parallel to each other.
Amazing Work! - What kind of brushes did you use? What brush settings and textures? - How long did it took to paint this? - You don't seem to like layers. :P Why?
Noah you are amazing !! Im your watcher and subscriber on devart and youtube (: May I ask, how do you pick colors so quickly and get the most perfect colors? I was inspired by your approach to directly laying down colors but roughly 20% of my time or more goes on picking colors.
He didn't make that mistake. take a straight edge and line it up with the vertical elements, you'll notice they converge to a vanishing point far above the page. He did a really great job.
Those birds.. Oh god those same birds have bothered me so much in one of the Guild Wars 2 loading screen arts where they actually used this exact same bird brush two times in a single picture.
If you want to listen to some great music alongside this video, I suggest searching for "8-Hour | Epic Music Mega Mix" and let it run alongside this. It's quite amazing.
Wow, such a fantastic artist! I want to have a tropical jungle scene with a waterfall in the background and coffee trees in the foreground. Possibly Caribbean peoples picking the coffee. How easy would that be?
Hey there, your artwork is really inspiring, i found you via Reddit, and god am i greatful. Anyhow i have a few questions :) How does one utilize those perspective lines you use, and also, how does one aqcuire that square brush of yours. Thank you so much :)
where to begin? I really wanted to become a 3D environment artist. I have tried 3Ds max modeling and I think I'll learn it. But the equipments are very expensive, laptop and and wacoms (ex intuos, bamboo, & cintiq) the smaller one. So what I think becoming a concept artist is the cheapest way right? So after that what to do? Do I have to draw lines, cross-hatching etc or what? IF you can layout a plan for me then it'll be better. Pls sir. thank you
Did you plan this before speedpainting it, or are you just interpreting what you have in your mind directly to the canvas? Like working on a big thumbnail?
I have the hardest time knowing which colors go with what to make it look good. I end up getting pieces that may look okay technically but the colors detract from the overall quality immensely. My color theory needs a lot of work but is there a general rule for picking colors or is it a more intuitive process?
Whats the software to record the desktop with this kind of sharpness and with that long video duration. cause when i do it goes like more then 1gb just for 15 mins video recorded.. :(
where did you geht the perspective grid? nice work btw

+David Jones he just simply creates a polygon with 100 sides as a star with 99% indenting. you can check the technique here: www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php/272659-Perfect-perspective-grid-in-under-a-minute-(photoshop)
He has uploaded one full enviro' painting video with commentary to RUclips, beyond that you'll have to buy his videos from his website; they're pretty cheap anyways.
im so jealous of your skills man, i just don't know how to color, especially determining light... if you can give me a link about light tutorial that'd great,, overall good painting

You da mvp in this comment section.
Leesment you just saved me time and a major headache!!! awesome sauce!!!!
Holy shit thanks from the future mate!
Any one know the csp equivalent
@@pureyarcadian3710 csp has a perspective ruler, but i dont use that cuz it make my lines snap

its been 6 years and it was the 1st digital painting video I saw and made me get into it. It will be my all time fav.
Such an inspiration! This is my new standard, and I will aim for this great heights XD
It's been 9 years. Did you achieve it? If not then you're a failure that cannot keep to his own standards
so good to see that great artists like you take some time just to share this things. very appreciated.
wow! I mean you did this within just a layer using basic brushes! This requires so much patience man. A learning experience.
The lighting in this piece is incredible. Gorgeous painting Noah!
That's absurd how good you are! If takes me four/five hours just to paint a person, let alone an entire landscape!
Absolutely amazing! Totally mesmerized watching the process you go through to get the final product.
Fantastic work! I love to watch these kinds of videos, because even though there is no commentary and the vid is sped up, I still learned so much. This is very inspiring stuff, I can't wait to get started on my next piece!
Nice 123 read, amazing you got so much dark shadow and mids. and stills it feel light. . awsome skill!

This is ridiculously cool. I've gotten better at landscapes, but still have so much to learn when it comes to town settings
good to see you posting again. weird how long it took to merge down the perspective lines. that kind of thing drives me up the wall when I paint. anyway, did I see you using dodge?
You sir... are an artist!
hold you graphic pad pen and have chillstep in the background and watch the master do his work RESPECT!!
love that bird brush. I gotta get one of those.
What an awesome talent !
SO good ! How many times you need bofor being able to put something this quality with so much details and ambiance ?
So inspiring :), love your work dude
Daaaaaaaaaaamn son !
Nice video mate, cool painting.

Thanks for your tutorial! It was good to see your workflow

Amazing artwork...
Level: MASTER
Great job! Why do you rotate the image when you working?

Because its easier to do different brushstrokes at different angles
+Fran Cobas thanks for asking the question because i was wondering the same thing i will have to try this.
Remember reading this in ImagineFX! love it!
This is so clever way to fix the perspective. Bow before the master!

Amazing stuff. Great Job.
What was the squarish brush that you used through most of the piece? and great work by the way, that was excellent!
This is amazing,
Hey great work! Could you please make a video about the how to set those perspective lines?
Amazing Work!
- What kind of brushes did you use? What brush settings and textures?
- How long did it took to paint this?
- You don't seem to like layers. :P Why?
Beautiful. Its funny how so many talented artists also have done work for Magic: The Gathering XD
Noah you are amazing !! Im your watcher and subscriber on devart and youtube (: May I ask, how do you pick colors so quickly and get the most perfect colors? I was inspired by your approach to directly laying down colors but roughly 20% of my time or more goes on picking colors.
nice any chance of getting your perspective grid or show us how you made it
Fantastic!

sick skillz
Hi Noah! Did you have some kind of planning for the concept before beginning, or your discover for the painting is what we see on the video? Thanks!
Amazing bravo, especially considering the fact you do use layers.
Wow, such a fantastic artist! I want to have a tropical jungle scene with a waterfall in the background and coffee trees in the foreground. Possibly Caribbean peoples picking the coffee. How easy would that be?
Cannot unsee O~O face on castle!
Otherwise its frikking amazing!

Amazing, love your style. What brushes are used?
AkeDev default
MrTheKing77 It's not default. It's just a rectangular brush, which is really easy to make
crazy awesome. Really, that's impressive. How long did this take you to paint?
Hi Noah! First of all, great paint, awesome, second, can you tell me how did you put those grids? (perspective grids) or you made it yourself?
I'd never have the confidence to do something that detailed with one layer :']
that's bc you are pu--c
lol
all on one layer? impressive! how do you set up those perspective grids?
Dis is sum mlg swag boi painting
I’m speechless.
I love it!!!
I can't tell because of the speed of the video but are u changing color using the color picker or shortcuts?
This is amazing, how long did it take you in real-time to finish? it looks like a Persian bazaar
Great work. Rien d'autre à dire ;)
what's your opinion on starting in Black and white and then colorizing?
Pure genius

Very nice ! Do you have a deviant art page?
Did you plan this before speedpainting it, or are you just interpreting what you have in your mind directly to the canvas? Like working on a big thumbnail?
men, you are The DrawMan!
How do you get that fog/distance effect in the farther parts of the picture? Whenever I try that it just looks bad.
I have the hardest time knowing which colors go with what to make it look good. I end up getting pieces that may look okay technically but the colors detract from the overall quality immensely. My color theory needs a lot of work but is there a general rule for picking colors or is it a more intuitive process?
What causes that shadow that falls diagonaly on the castle ?
The brush you used... i always looking for it everywhere... can you give me that brush please-
Hey, just a quick question, how did you add the guide lines for your perspective into the painting?
Casey Robinson Its a brush , there are tutorials for the brush on RUclips.
louis daly ,hi can you give the brush download link, thinks.
Whats the software to record the desktop with this kind of sharpness and with that long video duration. cause when i do it goes like more then 1gb just for 15 mins video recorded.. :(
anybody knows what brush hes using ? i love it
Wooow! did u really just draw this whole painting only painting on the backround thats so "living on the edge"
+Sebastian Larsson that is how people where doing it for centuries only nowadays we can use digital
very impressive
what is the perspective lines tool you have? how do i make it and or how do i get it?
Is this the dark orbits music?
the brush of perspictive line where did u get it
Did you do this on a singular layer or did you use more than one?
i wish there was some kind of comentry

That level of skill is sickening.
