Basically the reality in concept art world. Nonetheless, you ARE an artist, one has to have such vision of how things work to achieve this kind of result, congratulations!
I REALLY love your method of creating shapes and transforming them over and over to make the overall composition read well... its very inspirational and i'm going to try it out in just a bit. what brush set do you use?
Truely amazing.. the only thing I'm not sure about are the tree print copies (for lack of a better word) in the foreground. Isn't it nicer to also use some sort of photo for that? Very inspiring ..
I think i'm just realizing how many of these concept landscapes i see online are a bunch of photobashing that takes maybe an hour or so, it's not near as difficult as i'm thinking
Concept art is a mixture of design, and traditional art techniques; it is not easy by any stretch of the imagination, as you have to be highly skilled in both disciplines. I would consider myself an "expert" traditional artist, and competent designer (which is my career), and even I am a terrible concept artist; so there's an even deeper, third aspect of this skill set which is the ability to take those disciplines and make them work together effectively. The reason there are images and other assets edited into the work is that the intention is to create a "concept" (as the title implies), which requires quick ideation and fast turnaround. Most concept artists are amazing artists with immense talent -- they're not taking an easy-out, just using the right tools to get the job done. Please don't assume this is something you can learn overnight. As a gainfully employed artist and designer, I learned that lesson the hard way; it takes time, effort, and amassing a large library of references and assets.
Nice Artwork really. Like! like 100 times. I'm a beginner. I don't know where to get the pic for inserting. I'm afraid copyright stuff. Would you give me a guide?
Any plans for Gumroad tutorials? Especially interested in the transition from black and white thumbnails to colour. I always have problems with that process. Great work also!!
Nothing wrong with photobashing Naj, pretty standard in my industry. But if you'd like to see me not photo bashing I have loads of other videos where I just paint without textures. Maybe check them out instead of trolling my comments :)
@@JordanGrimmer Stop getting your nickers in a twist, He said he cant draw I said you didnt draw. end of story. He can click a mouse around in photoshop or gimp and get "good results" if he tried.
"Sketching a speedy landscape" is ... quite insulting to us who actually do draw. This is Photobashing, not sketching. None the less you have a huge talent in Photobashing and coming up with ideas, nice end result.
Manicca This is how the industry works. In games no one cares about it since you have to work to be efficient all the time. No one’s gonna pay you for painting every window on a castle, so you have to develop this kind of technique. It’s surely not meant as an insult, it’s just how being a concept artist works. The idea that as a concept artist you just get to paint nice stuff all the time is quite romanticised and nowhere near the truth. Discarding the artists skill because of this is honestly not the nicest way. Hope this gives you some perspective on this.
@Manicca I'm sorry you were so offended by my wording with this. Yes, not much sketching, I have other videos where I do just painting and sketching which I'm sure you'd be less offended by. I won't go into the pros and cons of photobashing now, but, as someone else commented here, this is just another way of creating art in the industry that I work in.

I'll try to in the future! :)

You are fine. You are manipulating and transforming. It won't be the intellectual property that you originally saved.
