    One hour in photoshop. really comfort zone-y but oh so much fun to paint. I don't think I will ever get tired of painting snowy peaks and clouds.
    Music is Claude Debussy - Suite Bergamasque Clair de lune

    So refreshing to see someone actually painting rocks rather than photobashing them into existence!

    • @BIOSHOCKFOXX
      @BIOSHOCKFOXX 6 лет назад +18

      Rocks are not easy, and photobashing is just a way to do it quicker and gives a feel of realism. It's a preference, and in industry it's an requirement in a sense, though it depends in that case, it depends whether it's easier for you to do it than paint rocks yourself. You can paint rocks from thin air if you have practiced them and studied, and have enough knowledge about light and shadows.
      It's not like everyone can just make a good looking rocks like that :D

    •  5 лет назад +2

      Photobashing é uma técnica para economizar tempo de produção, nas mãos certas faz milagres com baixos orçamento. Entendo a sua preocupação, mas arte continua sendo arte, não importam os caminhos.

      Chani Mcgrath I think he was being sarcastic he did really mean that it was a just sketch 😂

    • @faalia
      @faalia 6 лет назад +1

      it's kind of hard to say as an artist, cuz I myself are an illustration artist so whenever we say it's just a sketch sometimes someones thinks we're being sarcastic but in my opinion it's just one of our way to improving our skills :D

    • @Peteru69
      @Peteru69 6 лет назад +1

      definition of a sketch is a rough unfinished image or first draft/idea.
      *which it is by all means. I'd put "just" in quotations instead 😂because it's a nice sketch, but a sketch none the less.

    • @BIOSHOCKFOXX
      @BIOSHOCKFOXX 6 лет назад

      @@Peteru69 It is of course unfinished, but I think it's a bit more than a sketch, it's out of the sketch area for sure. It probably is a concept most likely.

    hello my friend, great painting. i wish i could plaint like you :))
    btw how do i check levels of my painting? with like a layer? i forgot the trick how to do it where you add a black desaturated layer or something? thanks... :D

    • @JeremyPaillotin
      @JeremyPaillotin  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks :) The most accurate way to do it is to go in View>proof setup>custom and choose "Working Gray - Dot Gain 20%". Then you just press Ctrl+y on and off to check your values.

      a tip for you too on flipping canvas with keybind :D /watch?v=XIRTDfnnPf0
      really fast and easy, but you probably already know this... :D just i noticed you used manual canvas flip just make sure you press record then press image --> flip canvas really fast so when you press the keybind it instantly flips canvas:)

    May I ask what did he do in the middle where all the colours suddenly became kinda muted? There's so many cool little tricks used in this simple picture (eg some how only certain parts of the painting was selected even though there was only 1 layer?) absolutely beautiful and fascinating

    • @shashnatiq
      @shashnatiq 8 лет назад

      You can select them with the magic wand lasso tool etc. I don't know everything he used to change the colors but he changed the levels and the hue

    What sort of technique or tool or whatever was used at 4:48 with the noise? And what for?

    • @JeremyPaillotin
      @JeremyPaillotin  8 лет назад +19

      I just make a new layer and fill it with noise, then put it on overlay at around 10% to put a little more "grip" on the image, kinda like if it was shot on film. You can't really notice it in the video but if you look at the picutre it adds that little extra touch at the end. It's a really small detail and up to personal preference though

    Why do artists invert image while sketching? Is it check something? I didn’t understand as the image is not needed to be symmetrical right?

    • @JeremyPaillotin
      @JeremyPaillotin  4 года назад +1

      It is a way to check for errors. when you look at the same image for a long time you start having trouble actually seeing what's wrong with it, but when you flip it some things seem more obvious. Also, we naturally paint brushstrokes in the same direction (right handed people tend to draw diagonals going from bottom left to top right for example), and flipping the canvas adds more variety to your brushstrokes direction. Hope that make sense !
