Hello, hope you've all had a wonderful week? It's been half term here so pretty busy with the boys and watching far too many action packed movies I wouldn't normally watch haha! So today's video I finally got round to my easy and healthy diet and exercise routine plus my favourite skincare products I've been using. I feel a bit nervous putting this one out there as it's obviously very personal, but if it helps just one person along the way then I'm happy:) I struggled to fit everything into the description box so I shall keep adding tips and points I forgot to mention. I really, really hope you find this video helpful and it gives you a little bit of inspiration, it will be the last time I attempt filming those exercises for a while I think haha! Big hugs everyone, looking forward to hearing from you all:) A few more tips and links I couldn’t fit into the description box! . I think it’s really important to never go hungry. If you decided to try out what i eat in a day and your hungry you’re not eating enough. You need to keep your metabolism going to be able to lose weight so keep piling on the green vegetables and try not to skip meals. . I’m not about fad diets. Been there, done that, and sadly got the t-shirt! And I know from first hand experience they don’t work. Not long term anyhow. It has to be a sustainable way of eating or you’ll never stick with it. It’s the same with exercise too, make it work for you and your lifestyle and you’ll find like I did that it’s much easier to make it a daily routine for good. . If you have a blowout don’t beat yourself up. A cake is just a cake, it’s really not the end of the world! Spoiling yourself from time to time is good for the soul, I just make sure I don’t let my whole week of eating plan fall apart because of it. . I don’t really weigh myself much. I know what I weigh and I might pop on the scales every couple of weeks to double check I’m headed in the right direction but I’m certainly not on there every day! I care more about how my clothes fit and what I feel like. Because after all it’s the feeling good bit that’s the best bit of all:) .I forgot to say, yes I am now on the hrt patches. After a little back and forth with the dosage I'm getting on fine with them. I don't think it's 'one size fits all' when it comes to hormone replacements but in my experience after a little trial and error I got there in the end. A few outfit links I couldn’t squeeze in: I’m Wearing: Spotty shirt bit.ly/3TfkCDQ Blazer bit.ly/3MC9tuw Jeans c.klar.na/al/7vUK/ I get a lot of my gym kit here, this sports bra particularly is so soft I often wear it as a normal bra. bit.ly/3fgvPFE Sweatshirt I’m wearing. Love this brand and the whole aesthetic c.klar.na/al/86J9/ I’ve been a Beauty Pie member for about eight months now and found it paid for itself very quickly. I forgot to mention earlier but they’ve just launched a new Youthbomb cream which is amazing:) bit.ly/3DIDS7m
Wow. I loved this. It must have been so scary to go through a major surgery and then life change like that. Bravo for being brave and putting yourself out there. It’s really inspiring. As a 37 year old woman, I’m always looking at your as my slightly older sis about how to gracefully and beautifully age. ❤
You are such a kind and inspiring person! Thank you for your positive and gentle advice. Do you do any aerobic actvitiy as well (walking, dance?) and do you have any favorite stretching videos? I’ve started with the current videos you shared and loving them so much!
@@rabiajaffe710 Thank you so much for your kind words:) In all honesty I don't tend to do cardio. I have a heart issue which I have a pacemaker for so cardio makes me too dizzy unfortunately. But I guess nice to know using weights can work just as well for your body if that's the way you decide to go too:) I started using them to tone up, I didn't really think they'd make me lose weight too so that was a happy bonus:) x
@@FashionStyleEdit of course dear. So appreciate you. So far the week is going well. Jessica and I start our Parisian Style 10x10 challenge today on Instagram. 🥰🇫🇷 wooo. Wish us luck.
As a holistic nutritionist who works with “mid life” women, I love how you’ve found the right way of real food eating and moving that is satisfying and works for your body and lifestyle. Well done! 🎉 (PS. Don’t let the “anti-diet culture - body positivity” police shame you into filtering your honest truth and experience. I’ll take honesty and realness over edited political correct conformity any day. We’re all on our own unique journeys and it’s your channel 💕). Much love to all. 💗
Oh I could cry with that lovely comment Evelyn, thank you:) I really do appreciate your kind words of support. I feel the healthiest and happiest I've been for a long time so I do think that's something worth celebrating. Happy Sunday lovely x
Evelyn, so well-said. Body positivity has been miss-used , sometimes even as a weapon to shame people try to encourage healthy lifestyle and try to get fit and a more ideal body weight and image. The other day I just got a comment from a comment I posted several months ago talking about doing exercise to tighten my ab muscles as they are not as flat as before I had my daughter. The person commented said you can be fat and fit at the same time. There is no reason to wanting to be skinny. I actually don't try to be skinny. I just want my stomach to be toned and tight, not fat and flabby. Wanting to be better was considered wrong/un-necessary for some reason.
@@littlelady7843 I think there’s a group of women who want the easy way out. It’s not easy to stay in shape and take care of yourself. It requires dedication and work. The older we get we require more of each the way I see it.
I know there will be women out there who would find this difficult to watch, my mother (who is not too much older) eats a diet very similar to this, exercises as much and does not get anywhere near the same results. I think it’s good for us to remember that this is how Jess has made this routine work for her, very generous for her to share this particularly in relation to the hysterectomy. I had imagined that to keep feeling fit and healthy she would have been making much bigger interventions in her life. Happy and relieved that this is not too onerous routine and she still has a happy fulfilled life despite recent health challenges. Thanks for generosity Jess.
This is a very honest and relatable video and I think it’s very body positive and encouraging, not body shaming in any way. Keep up the great content and work, Jess.
Dear Jess. I also have been noticing that you look leaner and more toned and was wondering what you’ve been doing. Thank you for being vulnerable and letting us see your diet and exercise. I have so many friends dealing with hormonal health or menopause issues (including myself) and I love that you were so open to talk about it. You’ve inspired me to really look at my diet and see where I can improve! Thanks again! ❤
Hello Daniela, thank you so so much for that lovely comment it means a lot 🙏 U think a lot of women are going through the same thing so although I wasn’t sure if I should talk about it, hearing it might have helped in some small way definitely makes it worthwhile:) For too many years in my 20s I did silly unsustainable diets and tried really hard at exercising but always hated it🤣 So to get to the stage where I wake and look forward to working out is actually a bit of a revelation for me! I never thought I would be that person and it’s exciting to be in such a healthy place both body and mind:) I’m wishing you the best of luck with your own healthy plan and if you ever need any help or advice I’m always happy to share what I’ve been learning along my the way x
I had a forced hysterectomy this year too (cancer) at 41 and I’m in need of a reset after that whole ordeal. Thank you for the motivation! ❤ just heading home to the states after a 10 day trip thru Ireland, ready to get back on a healthy schedule. Definitely craving it!
Hi Jamie, so sorry you’ve been through such a tough time, I hope you’re coming out the other side a bit now and feeling better. I have found that following this routine has been as good for my mind as it has been for my body. Just having something to focus on that’s just for me and setting myself the challenge really. I actually find it quite therapeutic and it’s a great stress reliever. Sending you big hugs and do let me know how you get on with your new healthy schedule after your travels 😘
Good morning, Jess. This was a wonderful video to inspire us all to keep a structured routine each day so that we can have a healthy and fulfilling life. When I reached menopause at the age of 52, I looked pregnant. I worked with a dietitian and discovered I was eating foods that affected my middle area and my gut health. It was an eye-opener for me. I have a petite stature and never had problems with my weight. I worked out 5 days a week at the gym, but nothing was helping. When I changed what I was eating, it helped tremendously. I too, worked out during the lockdown with a wonderful instructor on RUclips. It is called Nourish, Move, Love. I no longer go to the gym. I love waking up each morning to head downstairs (and I am retired) at 6 AM and placing out my mat and computer, just like you, to begin my 25 to 30 minute workout. I also take walks three days per week in my neighborhood. I am 65 now. I have gone off my healthy eating just a bit, so this video comes at a good time. You inspired me to get back to eating healthy for ALL my meals. However, I am going to NYC next week and it will be difficult to avoid the wonderful food they have. I am trying to convince my husband to eat healthy, but he loves to cook and eat. You are just so lovely and helpful. I am glad that you are feeling your best.
Jess, thank you sooo much for such an honest and very personal video. Your tips and advise are really helpful and you give them in such a motivational way. This was your first workout video but I hope it’s not the last. Well done you👏🏻👏🏻💪💪🥰🥰
I so appreciate that comment Rosanne, thank you:) I feel like I've bared my soul a little bit in this video so I was nervous putting it out there. I'm just happy people seem to be finding it helpful Though I think this probably will be my last ever workout video haha, it is so complicated to try and film that bit! Happy Sunday lovely and thank you again for your kind words x
I adore you and your channel Jess I have to say this is one of your very best videos, thank you. I have adopted a low carb high protein eating regime also including some intermittent fasting - in 5 weeks I have close to reversed my diabetes lowered high inflammatory levels and lost 18 pounds - just need to improve my sleep. I’ve also taken up Pilates and strength training. I will try Beauty Pie
Love this. I'm floundering a bit having hit 52 and got overweight due to injury and now hormones (I'm lucky to have got to this age without issue) for the first time ever. Your "diet" is exactly how I like to eat and I'm realising that consistency is key now.
Wow, wow wow! I had no idea! I had noticed from your videos that you were looking particularly gorgeous lately but didn’t know about the hysterectomy, although I remember you had an op a while ago. As you say, personal choice as to whether to live this lifestyle but I’m in the camp that ‘nothing tastes as good as healthy feels’. I totally love your honesty and you proving that you don’t have to pile on the pounds after menopause. Guessing you are taking some sort of HRT though which is slightly different than for those of us further along the journey without that benefit. Thank you for sharing and total respect for going for what you want whilst juggling work, children and running your gorgeous home. Lots of love xxx
Thanks so much Julia, it's certainly been a funny old year I know that much! But in a good way I guess, after the pain of course, but I feel healthier now than I have for such a long time and maybe the operation was the nudge I needed to be more determined. Work, kids, house, bills just life in general is hectic isn't it but I think before I didn't leave a space just for me which the exercise part is filling nicely:) I am on the hrt patches, goodness knows how hard it would have been without that so I'm thankful it's been so promoted recently. Right oh, I'm been shouted at to make sandwiches for hungry boys as we speak! Have a wonderful rest of the weekend Julia and thanks again for watching x
Hello gorgeous, always lovely to hear from you:) So happy to hear you enjoyed the video, seemingly not one I could squeeze into 10 minutes haha! But so happy to hear you found it motivational, big hugs lovely x
Such a sensible, down to earth program, Jess. I’ve been meaning to tell you for some time now how wonderful you are looking, so well done you!! after suffering an injury in July, I have been told to let it heal, and the inactivity has been horrible for me. Almost at the end of that period, so looking forward to getting active again. I love your exercising advice, truly the best way to approach this change. I’ll be taking on a lot of your tips. Hope you are feeling as great as you look! Thank you for your honesty in this video! 🥰👏
Thank you Debi, I really appreciate that:) Now that I'm over the initial recovery it feels so good to start feeling fit and healthy again and actually enjoying the exercise has been a bit of a revelation for me! x
Well done for not giving up with the exercise and doing what you can. It's amazing how a little goes a long way. It doesn't have to be all or nothing hours in a gym or not worth doing anything. Makes you feel good at the start of your day too!
1 avocado with a little balsamic vinegar and one egg. Hard boiled or poached is VERY healthy for you. Skin, lowers LDL, it lowers blood pressure. Buttermilk is also very good for your skin and is high in calcium among other benefits. I found flavored balsamic. Blackberry Ginger Is my favorite. Elemis is the skin care I use. Elemis is from London. Its a wonderful product. This is just a suggestions to change up your your breakfast.
Congratulations on finding a combination of diet and exercise that works for you as it clearly shows! My hubby and I started our health journey about 2 years ago by following a clean, simple diet almost identical to yours. We both feel amazing…have lost weight, have more energy, and sleep better. I also follow and love Caroline’s circuit training too! Keep us posted on your progress😊
Good morning Lori, hope you're having a lovely weekend so far:) I'm so happy to hear you and your Husband have found a similar diet you enjoy and just how fantastic it's making you feel! It's lovely when that happens isn't it. Years of trying silly diets and then finally you hit upon a really simple idea that makes you feel amazing! The sleeping better is a huge help too isn't it, when that runs smoothly everything else is soooo much easier. Big hugs Lori and I'm so happy to hear you've enjoyed eating like this too x
Thank you Jess for such an honest and motivating video. I am 69 years old, My eating style is very much like yours and has been for 40 years, but I have been ignoring exercise lately, this is the motivation I needed to put some exercise back into my routine. Have a wonderful week ahead.
So happy to hear I’ve motivated you a little Barbara😘 It gets like that for us all sometimes with everything really, from a style rut to our healthy lifestyles, sometimes just a friendly reminder of how good it feels is all it takes x
Totally agree! Little and often, nothing daunting. I commit to three exercises max per workout and anything extra is a bonus. It’s always at that 6 week mark of trying something new that you start to see the difference. I’ve just started Pilates and can’t wait to see how it sculpts me in a few weeks. It’s so gentle, yet tough to do what you think looks simple. The hollow hold and 100s, my word, they work the transverse abs like you’d never believe! I workout from home too.. if I went to the gym, I’d spend 30 mins making myself presentable to the public, drive to the gym, workout, drive home, shower, get ready for the day and that’s 2 hours at least gone. Just not practical! Whereas at home, all of that is condensed to 1 hr tops. And I can do it in my pyjamas or underwear with a hair mask in! 😂 On days when I really don’t feel like working out or my body is sore, I’ll either go for a walk or watch a programme and do steps on the spot at home. That 30 mins of cardio definitely gets your heart rate up and lymph moving. Steps are so underrated. Especially a little while after a carb heavy meal. It’s great for dispersing the glucose around the body into your muscles rather than sitting still and letting the excess turn to stored body fat. I also love ‘exercise snacks’ which are quick bouts of movement throughout the day without even getting changed into workout gear. Whilst the kettle is boiling, do 50 body weight squats all in one go and feel how breathless that makes you! Definitely will put the metabolism into active mode! Or whilst brushing your teeth, do calf raises. Whilst chatting on the phone, do arm circles. It’s now such a habit for me and has does wonders to my self esteem that I just know I can sustain it for life and will never be sedentary again.
That was a great video Jess - really inspiring. I'm amazed at how well you look after going through such a major operation. I'm 20 years older than you (now 62) and went through the menopause at 54 and it definitely affected what I could comfortably eat and drink without putting on weight. I'm happy with my weight at the moment but need to do some more targeted exercises in order to tone up so will have a look at your video suggestions. There has been so much negative news about the menopause recently with so many "celebrities" cashing in on "my menopause hell" that it's good to get a positive take on it from you. (I know some women suffer a lot but you've shown it's not all doom and gloom)
Thank you Jess for making this video as it took great courage. I applaud you for your honesty. I have noticed all of the slim ladies over 40 follow this same low carb lifestyle. I am 48 and I will be incorporating more vegetables into my diet. Thank you again 💓 😊
LOVE this video, liked and saved in "Jess" folder! Many people say they hate veggies but look for recipes online to spice them up and you will start to crave them. In the US everyone wears a nude lip and I love your pop of color so will try the orange red. Also, lululemon is so popular here but expensive so I found dupes on Amazon for half the price but still amazing quality. I agree about the scale and we should celebrate the non-scale victories like better mood, better sleep, better fitting clothes, and a healthier, stronger vessel to move through our day. I surprised my brother by lifting his very heavy suitcase. Thanks Jess and have a wonderful week!
Thanks Jess. I will admit, though I eagerly look forward to watching your videos on Sunday mornings, when I saw this topic, I was not excited. However, today (Monday) I decided to watch it and am so glad that I did. I have noticed how fabulous you look, the toning is really evident. Your eating tips were practical (though, I don't think that I can eat exactly like you), I am focusing more on protein and vegetables, however, do have an addiction to chocolate as well. However, portion control really helps me. I also started doing an at home 30 minute RUclips routine 5 days a week during lockdown. However, now I am back at the gym a couple of days a week and just need to add more cardio. The key take-away that I got from your workout was that you focus on abs every workout. I will be adding this to my routine as well. Thank you very much! xo
Well done you ! Honest and open, I applaud you for that. Not easy having menopause thrust on you so young. It’s important to feel happy in your skin, which is what you said throughout the video. Many of us found lockdown gave us new ways of staying fit, like you I use utube classes first thing in the morning and it’s the first time I’ve stuck to an exercise regime , which wouldn’t have happened had it not been for lockdown. Thank you for being so open , your brave and strong. X
Thank you Jess, I have started exercising since May and lost a stone now which feels amazing! I am still very much on my journey to the perfect weight and everything you said - really makes sense. Thank you as always for inspiration! 👍❤️
Jess been low carb, no sugar for over 2 years and in the process discovered my forever eating routine. Good, timely video as I’m trying to add more exercise. Absolutely loved your scrambled egg analogy, spot on.
Haha I forgot I said that! Yes! It made perfect sense in my own head so I'm glad someone else knew what I was talking about! How do you find the no sugar? Do you literally do zero sugar or do you allow yourself the odd bit from time to time? That's something I've wanted to do too for health reasons more than anything but I just can't seem to banish them completely:/ x
@@FashionStyleEdit I only eat sugar if we go out to dinner for a family birthday, I will have a bite or two of desert. (Reading the ingredients on ALL products with a nutrition label is important. Here in the US there is some form of sugar in most all products.) Interestingly the less sugar you eat the less you want. Probably two weeks to a month of no sugar I no longer had sugar cravings. And that is a common comment from those following keto eating. And finally, I too am/was a chocoholic. If you get serious about no sugar but need a substitute occasionally for coffee, tea, etc good options are stevia, monk fruit and erythritol blend and allulose if you can tolerate. Good luck.
Hey Jess, thanks for sharing this, it is really inspirational. I am going through natural menopause and am finding some symptoms make it hard for me to find the energy/ enthusiasm for exercise. It’s good to hear someone saying, “no, I’m not going to give in to the thick middle etc etc. Just one little gripe. You often say that you can’t show bits of your body or you “aren’t there yet”. Trust me, you are there! I can’t see anything about your body most women wouldn’t kill for. It’s just quite hard for people like me who struggle massively with weight and diet to hear that from someone so fortunate with their figure/ looks. I hope this makes sense?.. I loved the vid but wish you would celebrate how great you look! 🤗
Thank you for sharing your journey, I'm into menopause and frustrated with weight gain. I think I'll try the half hour...again thanks for sharing 👍 🙏 😊
Hi Suzette, it is a strange and often frustrating time isn't it, but it does feel nice to finally be enjoying exercise and I think a lot of that has to do with making it a lot more manageable to fit in with my lifestyle:) x
Great video. I had a radical hysterectomy at 33yrs and hit menopause hard. Than again in my 50s it hit again but not so bad.. thankyou it is good to see your video again now we are back from our Bali trip.
Oh wow Freda that is so young, that must have been tough to go through. It’s a strange and consuming time isn’t it but thankfully you’re out the other side now by the sounds of it. And wait a minute, Bali!! Whoop whoop, very jealous! I bet that was amazing wasn’t it x
Absolutely a wonderful time was had by us. We bought lots of wooden carved statues and carved masks . Of course lots of silver jewellery beautiful handmade pieces ❤. You would love the country as the people are really beautiful. I had to let my children 2 and 3 go live with our parents for six months as the op was major in the 80s .cut from side to side 😖 awful .
Thanks for this Jess. I’m having a total hysterectomy in December and have been dreading the side effects of hitting menopause abruptly (I’m currently peri). This has given me inspiration and more hope that I can get through it ok. Thanks again.
Hello lovely, aah I'm so happy I could help a little ease your worries. The side effects are obviously different for everyone but it certainly didn't feel as drastic for me as everyone made out. I've had to work harder than before for sure, but not impossible at all. Go easy on yourself and remember that it will all feel so much better in the end:) x
Thanks so much for watching Tammy:) I've actually now made my private 'workout' playlist public so everyone can see the videos I'm doing. It might be helpful to get you started x
I’m inspired, no matter what body shape, we all have issues we are working through, and these videos will push me a bit, even if its just running for .85 miles every day 😊
That's so true, some exercise is always better than no exercise:) And I can't tell you how much better I feel since doing it. So happy you enjoyed the video and thank you for letting me know x
Thanks so much for this Jess. I beat myself up if I don’t exercise for an hour 4 to 5 times a week, and you have made me realise that half an hour is much more doable, and clearly works for you. You look amazing.
Hi Andrea, oh I know that feeling, that’s what I used to be like! Always disappointed with myself that I hadn’t done more exercise! But honestly just that half an hour 5 times a week is all I’ve done and I can really feel the difference. I’m thinking perhaps it would have gone quicker had I done an hour each day but I know I’d have given that up pretty quickly:/ Slow and steady wins the race with this I think😘
Dear Jess! Loved this video. I am 47 and had to reduce my carb and sugar consumption a few years ago in order to maintain my weight too. I do exercise 4 to 5 times a week and I love it. It makes me feel healthy or like a scrambled egg 🥚 😁 .Anyway thanks for the great video and your honesty 👍
Haha my scrambled egg analogy was so random but at least you got what I was on about! It's a nice way to eat just generally isn't it and although I've used the word diet in the title I actually think it's a healthy way to eat for life. I could probably do with a bit more fibre which I'm trying to work in but other than that I actually love all the veg:) It sounds like you have a good routine too, 4-5 times a week exercising is brilliant. I often find if I have a few days off it's harder to start again, do you find that? So in some ways it's just easier to keep it going rather than having to start again! Happy Sunday Shital and thanks as always for stopping by x
@@FashionStyleEdit It's totally a healthy way of eating! Nuts, flaxseed, chaiseeds, oatmeal are a great source of fibre. I eat them with my fruit in the morning, soak them overnight in coconut milk or kefir. Yes.... it is not easy to start with exercise after a break. I try to avoid a longer break 🙃 You know I am always going to think of you when I make my scrambled eggs or when I am lifting my weights! My muscles are turning into scrambled eggs 😁 Have a great week Jess!
Loved this video. Great to see you doing so well after a huge surgery. I think it is great that you take the time for yourself to workout. You look lovely as always.
This is really inspiring Jess, and you look incredible!!! I’m 45 and we’ll into peri menopause and have been meaning to start some exercises for ages now (you know how it is😂) and you’ve really given me the push to get on it! So thank you!💗 xxx
Aah I'm so happy I've given you that little nudge of motivation Lynsey, I think we all need that sometimes:) Once I got into the exercise and got over that initial ouch of doing it I started looking forward to it! Such a revelation for me as I don't think I'd say I had ever 'enjoyed' exercising, I slugged my way through it haha! But this time it's been different and I think part of that was about setting aside a reasonable amount of time to it that I could stick with much better. Wishing you the best starting out with it lovely, as my friend said to me in the beginning, you'll never regret the workouts you do x
@@FashionStyleEdit absolutely, I think the setting aside quality time, and especially early before everyone else wakes up, is definitely going to be the way forwards for me. I’m planning on getting up an hour earlier tomorrow morning to kick start things. Thanks again Jess, I absolutely love your content, you’re one super stylish lady! 😊 xxx
I've been watching now for about a year now and love your style and admire you. So this was great. I like the English breakfast platter idea and a reminder to cook fish! I always a like to have something sweet with my coffee, like a pastry but just need to grab some fruit.. plain and simple. I think some people need to know and maybe just be reminded that toning down and getting Healthy is WAY more than looking good.. its to prevent injuries and disease. I'm a nurse and worked more and exercised less and ate less healthy over the last two years, put on 20 lbs and have trochanteruc bursitis, tendonopathy and labrel tear and can barely walk after being an avid hiker, tennis player and golfer.. so thanks for this video, you're one of my mentors, this with a large supply of Voltaren cream will be on my way back to the driving range😄🧘♀️🚴♀️ or at least be able to walk soon.
Thank you for this Jess, it is very inspirational. I feel like I could squeeze in 30 minutes a day but I really need to know that I am doing the right exercises for me with my hip and feet problems. At 63 I have started to walk (stagger) like a much older person and I am sure that with the right help I could improve this. I'm seeing a physio this week so this could be the first step on my journey. Great video.
Hi jess, I admire your energy and and 5 daily routine regime and sticking to it. You eat healthy and it shows. I am 58 , and thick around my middle , I am a present trying to be good , but it is hard to get motivated. I need my clothes to fit me comfortably.!!!!
To think that induced menopause put you in this predicament (in a good way of course) is mind blowing! You always looked amazing but lately I was noticing this transformation of abs, a glow and all around a difference in your appearance. Thank you for sharing your personal and very motivational video, of this incredible journey of gorgeousness!! 😉Definately a routine I can try! Can I idolise you any more!! haha 🤩
Hello my lovely, thank you so much for those kind words:) I know right, bonkers really! I have a trail of failed diets and exercise routines behind me and the one time it actually works is when I'm forced into the menopause! So happy to hear you found it motivational, that makes my day hearing things like that. And all these lovely comments have made me realise it was the right decision to share my story. Happy Sunday hun x
Hi Jess, I’m a fitness trainer & it’s great to see you fitting in your exercise & staying consistent. Since 2020 I moved online teaching 30 minute classes & ‘bitesize’ sessions that are 10 minutes a day which although short are super effective. If I could offer a little advice it would be to ensure you are having good fats & complex carbohydrates for energy & ensure the classes you are following are taught by a qualified instructor. Many online are ‘fitness influencers’ teaching their own workout which may not be suitable for everyone. Ultimately we need to find what gives us joy, makes us feel good & keeps our body & bones healthy. Lifting weights is essential for muscle mass & bone health , mid thirties & beyond. Hope this is helpful, have a great day.
This is a fantastic video, although I wasn't thrown into menopause, I did go through it at 51. Since I had been strength training at the time, I never needed hormone replacement therapy. I believe even Dr's are still guessing at it, so muscle strength is helpful for almost every ailment I have read about. You are right, exercise is cumulative, and the outcome is ongoing, and always in motion. So true, doing SOMETHING, is better especially almost daily, than doing nothing, also good for our state of mind. At 65, I have learned that this is all a part of "loving ourselves" a lifelong course!
Dear Jess, thank you for being such a great example of self control and self awareness!!!!! And proving me one more time that our stomach shouldn’t be our master!!!!! One day you will be a great role model for your daughters-in-law ;-)❤ thank you so much for this video!!!!!!!!!!
Aww I really, really appreciate that thank you:) Half an hour is so handy isn't it. People told me I'd never get toned on that but it was all the spare time I had and I'm finding it really works for me. Happy Sunday lovely and thanks again for popping by x
Thank you, thank you, thank you! After all the videos I have watched on weight gain after menopause, yours has finally made sense. This is actually doable and I can’t thank you enough ❤
Oh it’s my absolute pleasure Sandra thank you ☺️ I’m so happy to hear you found it helpful. In the beginning lots of people told me 1/2 an hour would never be enough but I can really feel the difference and it works wonders for your mind too:) Do let me know how you get on if you try out any of the videos, they can seem tough at first but they do get easier pretty quickly x
You look amazing Jess. Thanks for sharing. I’m menopausal and struggling with my weight so to know I can make a difference with just 30mins daily is great.
Love this jess... I am 10 years older than u and I had same experience.. So I decided I wasn't goin to let the menapause get me down. Simple tweeks in my diet and exercise plan... I healthier than I ever been and my weight hasn't spiralled out of control. I feel well. So i completely get u on this. 😊
Hi Jess, as i am going to try this way of eating im really looking forward to it, can you tell me the sauce that was over the chicken in the recepies you showed and also over the fish please, would love to know ! As im ready to get going !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many thanks x
Morning lovely, yay you did it! You look fantastic and it’s great when you feel so wonderful isn’t it. Really helpful, thank you 😘 As you know I’ll be in the same boat regards the hysterectomy, hopefully in the next few months. Since loosing all my weight, still want to loose half a stone, I’m trying to tone now. Mrs Muscle definitely burns 😂🤣 but in a good way haha! Have a great Sunday and a fantastic week ahead lovely. Take care xx Boho beautiful is great if you like yoga, I try and practice 3 times a week. Also meditation, although not “exercise” is just as important and learning how to use your breath is just the best gift you can give yourself xx
Good morning lovely, you know I was nervous about posting this one but I did it! And by the sounds of it people are finding it helpful so that's reassuring:) Mr and Mrs muscle are fab aren't they! Though I see less of the Mr and more of the Mrs haha! You are doing so incredibly well lovely on your new health kick and I'm so happy for you. Onwards and upwards lovely, I hate the saying but in this instance it's very true, you've got this:) x P.S. Love the tip about the meditation, I think I might introduce a sprinkle of this at bedtime to help me wind down x
Thank you so much for the inspiring and motivating video. I am ready to slowly start a routine similar to yours! You covered so much info that I feel is in line with my past experiences. Can you share the range of carbs you eat in a day, or maybe you don't have to count due to the clean diet you follow? Really appreciate your RUclips channel - fashion as well!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video lovely and found it helpful:) It’s just a really honest reflection of where I am right now and I guess how stubborn I was about wanting to get toned 🤣 I am really careful with the carbs I eat but obviously do still eat small amounts. The majority coming from the vegetables I eat which I try to have lots of so I get the fibre in my diet too. I eat a lot of strawberries too! Especially when that sweet tooth comes knocking a bowl of strawberries has become my go to🙌🏻 I’ll often have strawberries and melon in the morning too, especially once it starts to get warmer, feels a nice fresh breakfast to start the day with. Best of luck on your fitness journey, I’m always here for any help or encouragement if you need it x
Love watching your styling videos!👢 But I also enjoyed this video. I am on a weight loss journey of my own and I am trying to get more healthy. So I found this video helpful. Thank you!💛
Thank you so much Alex, so glad you enjoyed it:) The vlog style unfortunately opens creators up to so much criticism which is hard when it's our personal lives so that does make me think twice about doing them too often unfortunately. Not the best day at work being told I'm not a real woman after such an honest and heartfelt video:/ x
Oh God I understand , I look at the comments some people leave and I’m flabbergasted to why they even watch Rise above and don’t let them get to you which I know will be hard because your a nice person ❤️xxx
Thanks so much lovely, so glad you enjoyed this little chit chat:) It doesn't take long tbh because when I have a bit of a splurge and put on a few pounds it takes a couple of weeks eating like this again to get back to where I was. The exercise routine made all the difference. I wanted to look toned from it but of course the knock on effect was losing weight which I hadn't really thought about. And it made me lose weight from areas that had never really shifted before? Just all round feeling so much better really so if you do it sensibly it can make you feel great:) x
This was amazing, great information, i am definitely going to take lots of your tips and put them into action ! You really do look fantastic. Thankyou x
Aww so happy to hear you enjoyed it Tracy and hopefully you found it helpful:) It's been an interesting year of change but I'm so happy to be feeling like myself again only a happier, healthier version:) x
Thank you so much for sharing this Jess! I didn't realize you had such major surgery last summer. You just inspired many of us to put our minds towards better living. The way you've broken down the exercises to small chunks is a great idea. I am not sure I can get rid of bread, but I have recently managed to banish chocolate and cookies at least. I do need the disclipine to exercise early enough to make sure I get it done. I have been very focused on my mom but have let some of my good health habits suffer in the meantime. I am going for washboard abs now! ❤
Ooh I'm jealous you've managed to banish the chocolate Karen, that is something I struggle with! I've really cut down but I do still need it from time to time:) So happy to hear you found this video inspiring, that was all I intended to do:) Big hugs lovely x
I'm super happy for you that you found something that works for you. As a nutritionist I do hope you can find a 80/20 balance and enjoy some treats here and there :). Hope you add in enough healthy fats as well and be mindfull about missing certain micronutrients. Sorry , can't help myself wanting to give some tips 😂. Enjoy your day 🌞
Aah a nutritionist, we need your expert advice 🙌🏻 Please tip away my lovely, both me and I’m sure the other subscribers are always grateful for the advice. I’ve started taking some multi vitamins now too just to help capture anything I’m missing. And yes you’re absolutely right about the good fats. I struggle finding fairly low carb fibre if you’ve got any ideas on that? Perhaps to add into the mix at breakfast time so it has time to burn off throughout the day x
Thank you so much Jess for sharing such personal information to help us all. 🙏🏻 Great tips for us all I think. Well done for making the changes and most importantly for being happy with your routine. ❤ Thank you for the links to your fitness playlist. I’ve not heard of Caroline’s Circuits before so I’m definitely going to check her out.
Loved this vid, instantly clicked on it when I saw the thumbnail as I've always admired your figure and style! That's a great tip to focus half the daily exercise routine on the part that we most want to improve, thanks!
This video is so inspiring to me!!! Thank you for all your shared and your encouragement. Going to try you suggestions this month and see how it works for me
Thank you so much for that kind message, I really appreciate that:) Don't get my wrong I do long for warm crusty bread a lot haha! I do find though my tummy just works better all round once I started lowering them. Not for everyone I know but it has certainly made me feel better. Happy Sunday lovely and thanks again for stopping by x
@@FashionStyleEdit you are more than welcome 🤗. Have you cut all complex carbs or just limited them? I’m always so curious how people find that. Sorry for more questions 🙂 xx
@@livechangechallenge I just limit them:) My main thing really is to avoid the really heavy, processed carbs. So white bread or pasta for instance, they just hurt my tummy and really make me bloated. But then I do still spoil myself to the odd bit of chocolate because I just can't help myself! Zero carbs would be soo hard to do and it wouldn't allow me to eat all that veg either so a bit of moderation on all that really. And no worries asking questions, I'm more than happy to share what I do and what I've learnt along the way x
Hi Jess, thank you so much for this video, iv just started eating low carb and I love it, but I don't really exercise so this has motivated me to use my weights and start, you look absolutely amazing and it shows all your hard work has paid off 🥰👍
You look amazing and have certainly defied the "40's bod"! I eat super clean, but also struggle to fit in exercise in my busy day so you have inspired me. Do you practice intermittent fasting /time restricted feeding at all? I definitely notice that while I eat the same amount I get so much leaner when Im eating in a shorter window.
Hi lovely, I struggled to get on well with fasting to be honest. I just found that I was soooo incredibly hungry on my eating times that I just overeat. However I have friends who swear by it and I've heard it's meant to be great for your immune system too. David managed quite well on the intermittent fasting actually, far better than I did! x
Great video and message , its about doing what makes you happy in your own skin, i believe in you are what you eat and the days i eat healthy delicious food i feel better than the days i eat junk , and i do have junk days ! That always leave me feeling like ive had a junk day !! , And being post menopause i know the importance of keeping my body strong and supple , but your right , it has to suit your life and the time you hsve or its undoable !!! Is that a word ??? Thankyou for great inspiring tips 🌼
This is so helpfull and just in the correct moment! I need to pick up myself, at 61 year I look young but do not feel fit and need to shed a few kilo's as well! you just motivated me, thank you for that!
This is such fun! Great to keep one's shape and to maintain one"s self. Who could afford a new wardrobe all the time? Broccoli and Stilton soup... Sounds great!!!! 🌹🌺Xo J
Hi Annabelle, yes the snacks are a little trickier eating like this I must admit. However I would say if you eat properly and really fill yourself up at meal times you shouldn't want the snacks as much. Saying that I always keep a bag of walnuts, almonds etc handy and I love a bit of celery with cream cheese. Anything like that that's really easy to have to hand when you're on the go always helps. x
Really enjoyed this video - had the same thing happen to me last year and I’m almost 49! You look beautiful Jess and I’m hoping to get where you are because I’m feeling very schlumpy at the moment. Your video has inspired me to get back into it as I’ve been a little exercise shy after the surgery! You look amazing and keep up the good work! Cheers!
loved watching this. I went through menopause. I am very dedicated to fitness. I have been working out consistently since I was 28. Itreally is a lifestyle. I cook from scratch so I know what goes into things. I am a pescatarian and lactose intolerant. By living this lifestyle I was able to avoid the mid section spread. It's not easy, I replaced excuses with results and like you, I work out first thing in the morning. It keeps the calories burning longer and it gets it done so I can get on with my day. I won't lie, I work out roughly 3 hours a day seven days a week. It's not easy. But it needs to get done.
I'll start off by saying I hate to exercise! But I need to. I have 3lb bright green weights right now in the corner of my room that keep staring at me! I broke my wrist a few years ago, but that's no excuse not to try again.(I'm past menopause age). Your demonstrations are wonderful and simple, half an hour in the early morning is doable for me. (your eating routine is very similar to mine and I live in the US). Great video.
Morning Jess, I ABSOLUTELY ❤️ this video , I am inspired to go dance like no one is watching 😂, even though I am standing on my feet for 9 hrs a day in the shop I still feel I need to move and stretch more ….I have subscribed to your faves and going to get moving more so thanks a million for inspiring us…And you look amazing so don’t be so hard on yourself lovely , it’s good though to feel strong in yourself as we age for sure , we are superwomen 😂😂😂…. Sending love xxx
Aww thank you gorgeous:) Those dance routines are soooo much fun! I mean, I look a complete plonker doing it but I'm having a lovely time haha! I don't know how you do it standing all day in store would hurt my back a lot so yes I reckon a bit of jumping around afterwards would probably relax all those muscles again:) Happy Sunday Shelley, big hugs x
That’s wonderful though that you’ve found the thing that really works for you:) I did try fasting before but I wasn’t great on it. I would totally overeat when I could which I think negated the whole idea🤣 But I have friends who swear by it and from a health point of view I’ve heard it’s amazing benefits x
@@FashionStyleEdit yes the benefits are incredible. I did it to reduce the inflammation in my body as arthritis was creeping in and it worked a treat. No more pain. The weight loss and maintenance has been a wonderful bonus.
Thank you Jess, you look fab and thanks for the info. Going to look at the exercise videos. Do you use ready made soup? If yes, what brands would you recommend?
Hi lovely, yes I do cheat with soups:) I see all these amazing recipes on insta and people claiming how easy is to make your own but I just never seem to have the time! We shop at Aldi, Asda, and M&S and Waitrose for the odd items and all have great soup ranges. Surprisingly Aldi actually has the most delicious soups, I think it's their 'special' range? But all those I mention in the description box are the type of ones I stick to. Handy for Winter when you really don't fancy a salad x
I had a hysterectomy about 36 years ago and have never gained a pound! I eat anything I want, in moderation and feel bad for women when they're told there's a good chance you'll put on weight! Maybe just as you're waiting to heal. Then just live your life! God bless!
Hi Jess. Thank you very much for this video, it's good to see that your beautiful shape doesn't just come from "magic" and is actually the result of effort and hard work. I am quite toned and happy with my shape in general but I struggle with the tummy area, particularly because I have some loose skin that doesn't seem to want to go away. Would you have any advice for this? Thank you!
So happy to hear I’ve inspired you a little😌 I don’t really do cardio but only because I struggle with a fainting issue otherwise I’d probably quite enjoy that:) I see people running and think it looks really therapeutic and of course a good way to get fit too x
Interesting and glad you to hear you are doing well after your op. It’s like Keto in some respects and I do think intermittent fasting is beneficial too. Healthy Fats are still necessary though. I enjoyed your video and it’s pushed me to stick with my exercises.
Hello ❤ thank you so much for sharing 😊 I was looking for good videos and now you’ve made my day. I’m so grateful 🙏 Btw do you still love your Zuvi hairdryer?
Great video! And yes, I do believe you can keep that menopausal stubborn weight gain at bay! I love Mr. and Mrs. Muscle. They are game changers! Try Moving with Nicole for some short pilates videos. I think you will like her. She is a good addition to Mr. and Mrs. Muscle's routines.
Grazie mille Stella:) Spero davvero che il video di oggi ti sia piaciuto e che ti abbia dato alcune idee e tanti adorabili prodotti per la cura della pelle. Buona domenica x
Big hugs everyone, looking forward to hearing from you all:)
A few more tips and links I couldn’t fit into the description box!
Because after all it’s the feeling good bit that’s the best bit of all:)
.I forgot to say, yes I am now on the hrt patches. After a little back and forth with the dosage I'm getting on fine with them. I don't think it's 'one size fits all' when it comes to hormone replacements but in my experience after a little trial and error I got there in the end.
A few outfit links I couldn’t squeeze in:
I’m Wearing:
Spotty shirt bit.ly/3TfkCDQ
Blazer bit.ly/3MC9tuw

I get a lot of my gym kit here, this sports bra particularly is so soft I often wear it as a normal bra. bit.ly/3fgvPFE
Sweatshirt I’m wearing. Love this brand and the whole aesthetic c.klar.na/al/86J9/
I’ve been a Beauty Pie member for about eight months now and found it paid for itself very quickly.
@@BriLamberson Aww that's a sweet comment thank you so much Brianna:) Hope you're having a lovely week x
Well done! 🎉
(PS.
Couldn’t agree more!
Thank you so much Monica, I really do appreciate that:) x
@@FashionStyleEdit Really enjoyed this content too x Happy Sunday Jess. Caro
@@carospinks Thank you so much to you too Caro, so happy you enjoyed it x
I love this, thank you so much for sharing Jess! I’m saving this video for whenever I need motivation (which will be a lot 🤣) You look fabulous ❤
So sorry you had to have surgery, but congratulations on your eating plan and obviously successful fitness program. You look great 😊
Thank you Debi, I really appreciate that:) Now that I'm over the initial recovery it feels so good to start feeling fit and healthy again and actually enjoying the exercise has been a bit of a revelation for me!
You look amazing, thanks for sharing !
On days when I really don’t feel like working out or my body is sore, I’ll either go for a walk or watch a programme and do steps on the spot at home.
Thank you very much! xo
You look fabulous, and so youthful, your skin is glowing…❤
Well done you ! Honest and open, I applaud you for that. Not easy having menopause thrust on you so young. It’s important to feel happy in your skin, which is what you said throughout the video. Many of us found lockdown gave us new ways of staying fit, like you I use utube classes first thing in the morning and it’s the first time I’ve stuck to an exercise regime , which wouldn’t have happened had it not been for lockdown. Thank you for being so open , your brave and strong. X
Great video, thanks for sharing. I think you always looked great and the 'new you' looks even more fabulous! Keep up the good work!
Aww thanks Heather, I appreciate that:) x
Thank you Jess, I have started exercising since May and lost a stone now which feels amazing! I am still very much on my journey to the perfect weight and everything you said - really makes sense. Thank you as always for inspiration! 👍❤️
Good for you Vicky, it sounds like you're enjoying the process as much as I am:) So happy to hear you liked the video x
Good luck.
That white half zip sweater was beautiful ❤️
Thanks for talking so generously about that topic. You're very inspiring. This video is surely very helpful for many women !
Thank you so much. I love this upload. It is so real and good for healthy.
Greetings from Arizona 🌵
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching Ruth, hope you enjoyed it😘
Thank you for sharing your journey, I'm into menopause and frustrated with weight gain.
Good video, thank you. I'm going to try to get started on some exercise.☺
This was great! Can you link your gym kit items please?
Thanks so much Heather:) I had to link everything I’m wearing in my comment I pinned to the top as I ran out of room in the description box x
Wow, most inspirational video I’ve watched. I can’t thank you enough.
Thank you so so much:) What a lovely thing to say and I really do appreciate it x
Ultimately we need to find what gives us joy, makes us feel good & keeps our
body & bones healthy.
A very inspiring video. Thank you for sharing this. The half an hour tip is so true! You look great
Aww I really, really appreciate that thank you:) Half an hour is so handy isn't it.
This is awesome, Jess! Your hard work is paying off: you look radiant and so trim and toned🌸 Fantastic tips too: you’ve inspired me 🙂
You look amazing Jess.
Really helpful, thank you 😘
As you know I’ll be in the same boat regards the hysterectomy, hopefully in the next few months. Since loosing all my weight, still want to loose half a stone, I’m trying to tone now.
Mrs Muscle definitely burns 😂🤣 but in a good way haha!
Have a great Sunday and a fantastic week ahead lovely. Take care xx
Boho beautiful is great if you like yoga, I try and practice 3 times a week.
Really enjoyed this video, just the inspiration I need. Thank you
I'm so happy to hear that thank you Deborah x
Love watching your styling videos!👢 But I also enjoyed this video. I am on a weight loss journey of my own and I am trying to get more healthy. So I found this video helpful. Thank you!💛
Hi Jess I really enjoyed this video and I’ve got to say I love your vlog style videos which you used to do a lot more of 😊x
Oh God I understand , I look at the comments some people leave and I’m flabbergasted to why they even watch
Rise above and don’t let them get to you which I know will be hard because your a nice person ❤️xxx
Hi Jess! Keep it up, you got it! 💪 Heather Robertson here on RUclips is my favorite instructor. She is the best!
Adore your channel, Jess! And love this video in particular❤ how long did it take you to reach your perfect weight eating this way?
Thanks so much lovely, so glad you enjoyed this little chit chat:) It doesn't take long tbh because when I have a bit of a splurge and put on a few pounds it takes a couple of weeks eating like this again to get back to where I was. The exercise routine made all the difference. I wanted to look toned from it but of course the knock on effect was losing weight which I hadn't really thought about. And it made me lose weight from areas that had never really shifted before? Just all round feeling so much better really so if you do it sensibly it can make you feel great:) x
Thanks for another great video. I'd love to see a recent hair/makeup tutorial video :)
My pleasure and yes I could do with filming a new one of those:) x
Absolutely loved this video. Thank you Jess xxx
This video is so inspiring to me!!! Thank you for all your shared and your encouragement. Going to try you suggestions this month and see how it works for me
I loved this video Jess, like always, your delivery is so impeccable. I’m a carb lover but think I could do with lowering them a bit ☺️xx
@@FashionStyleEdit Thanks Jess, I really appreciate that. Have a good week 🥰
Jess I’ve noticed you are looking so toned gorgeous as always xxx
Aww thanks so much Therese, it's felt nice to finally start enjoying the exercise:) Have a lovely week x
Absolutely 🤗 looooved it X You are an inspiration....
Thank you so much Mandy x
This is such fun! Great to keep one's shape and to maintain one"s self. Who could afford a new wardrobe all the time? Broccoli and Stilton soup... Sounds great!!!! 🌹🌺Xo J
Thanks for great content. Was wondering if you have idea suggestions for snacks between meals (this is my biggest challenge:-)
@@FashionStyleEdit Don’t know how I do it either 😂😂😂😂😂
Great video.. thanks! Apart from regular exercise, intermittent fasting is the only thing that has helped me stay slim after menopause.
God bless!
Thank you so much you inspire me to find easy diet for myself. Do you drink any coffee.
I’m glad you enjoyed it:) Yes I drink both coffee and tea with a tiny bit of milk. I’ve never managed to give up milk, I like it too much! x
Thank you!
Hi Jess …. Loved this video! You have inspired me to make the effort. Just wondering if you do any cardio or is it just weights ?
So happy to hear I’ve inspired you a little😌 I don’t really do cardio but only because I struggle with a fainting issue otherwise I’d probably quite enjoy that:) I see people running and think it looks really therapeutic and of course a good way to get fit too x
Thank you so much for your video. It is very helpful. ❤
It's my pleasure Ewa, thanks so much for watching and letting me know you enjoyed it x
Interesting and glad you to hear you are doing well after your op. It’s like Keto in some respects and I do think intermittent fasting is beneficial too. Healthy Fats are still necessary though. I enjoyed your video and it’s pushed me to stick with my exercises.
Hi, could you share where the white and black polka top is from please, really eye catching. Thanks
Hi Lynsey, I added a link to my clothes in my comment below as I ran out of room in the description:) Any probs just let me know x
Hello ❤ thank you so much for sharing 😊 I was looking for good videos and now you’ve made my day. I’m so grateful 🙏 Btw do you still love your Zuvi hairdryer?
Great video…obviously all works as you look amazing ❤
This is so inspiring! Thank you for sharing this and congrats on your achievements! 🎉
Thank you so much Laetitia, I really appreciate your kind words x
Great video! And yes, I do believe you can keep that menopausal stubborn weight gain at bay! I love Mr. and Mrs. Muscle. They are game changers! Try Moving with Nicole for some short pilates videos. I think you will like her. She is a good addition to Mr. and Mrs. Muscle's routines.
Ooh wonderful thanks so much for the tip I shall take a look:) x
