FYI, a few other differences between these wireless mics that wasn't mentioned... The RODE mics include a small carrying case, the batteries last longer (up to 7 hours) and the RODE also have more range of up to 70m (about 210 feet). Is that worth the larger price tag? That's really up to you.
Can you just clarify something for me. I would like to use the "Comica BommX - D D1" with my shotgun mic and boom pole set up to get rid of the cable thing. I want to be able to have a mono ""loud channel"" and mono ""quiet channel"" independently adjustable on the receiver end but, with just 'one' transmitter and 'one' receiver. To get better dynamic range and flexibility in post. Is this possible with the 'Comica BoomX-D D1' kit??

Great video and comparison! I noticed the Røde had slightly better audio quality than the Comica did... but I'm wondering if it was actually the difference in the lav mics themselves. Have you done any tests where you plugged the Røde wired lav into the Comica (and/or vice versa) to compare the sound, just to see if it's actually the mic itself that makes the difference? Just curious! I love our Comica set (CVM-WM300), but this looks like a great, small, simple-to-use version.
Very well could be the actual mic capsules as the RODE is a pricier and assumably better mic. Haven’t tried different lavs yet or switching them around, but you definitely could.
I am really happy so far with this affordable set up, Blake. I bought the 2 transmitters and 1 normal sized receiver. It came with a TRS, a TRRS and another cord for Sony I think. That works great with the iPhone, and it gives me availability to use them for DSLRs down the road also. So far no tests in noisy public areas, where I do my video recordings (pandemic). But love them with little I’ve done around the house.
Now I ordered this on ebay. Hope it's as good as you indicate in this excellent video. Been looking for a lav mic for my OnePlus north and my Sony 6500, and for a possibility to monitor the sound via headset. Hope that this gives me all.
Very nice. I'm working on a retrospective episode for the 11th anniversary of my show next week and I used a wireless system for a short time in 2011. About the same price, but it was VHF. I was consistently no more than 6' away from the receiver and it didn't have that great of sound. The systems now are way better. If I was starting out, I'd consider it, but I'm so used to doing a simple audio sync now, that it's pretty trivial to do it in post. Excellent video as always!

Great that you own both versions! I have heared That the Overall Audio quality of the Smartphone Version is Not as good as the normal Version. Can you say something to this?!
I have seem 20 reviews of these Comica and went on to buy a kit. Im amased that none of the reviews mention what I found. Already 10 minutes into my test these mics proves them selves to by worthless. They are so sensitive to other electronics and makes so much static noice when just being within 50cm of a ipad, headset or pc, that I cant use them for anything. Did the same test with the Røde GO. NO static noise AT ALL. I even tried placing the transmitter on top of my access point without any issues at all.

You may have a faulty one, you know I own rode, and there not perfect. Use the rode mic go, and it was sensitive to electronics like wifi routers etc. But I use the rode micro so good! I assume rode wireless go is amazing. But comica, the new underdog. They brought these mics comes with two, even lapel mics, it's great!! But nothing is perfect right :) work with what we have

I can’t seem to find the comica sound Flies. They work but I’m a little confused 😐 on where do the sound files save on to ? I’m a noob. Do they save on the memory stick with the video files ?
Depends what you record with and how you plan to edit, but there are lots of options for smartphones or iPads or computers. Need more info to help with direction. :)
I've been doing live TV segments from home and audio has been an issue. I want to try one of these out but I have to be able to hear the Host on the other end. Is it as simple as connecting an IFB to the Comica + LAV mic?

I’m using the d2 with the dual mic plugged into an iPhone. The audio peaks really easy; even when set to 0db. Audio sounded bad. Switched to a recorder and I was able to tune down the audio to avoid peaking, but now it’s too low and when enhanced I have the same problem. Audio sounds distortioned. What am I doing wrong?
Are you using a third-party app? That's the best way to go on an iPhone like Filmic Pro if you're doing video or something like MetaRecorder or Ferrite if you're doing audio only. You need to set your input gain. As far as using a recorder, not sure. Sounds like your input gain is over-modulating so again make sure your setting in the recorder are good (like around -12) and also make sure you're not using auto gain or maybe a limiter is doing something weird.
@@iphoneographers I tried filmic pro and saw similar results. I have no input gains on the mic, both set to 0 on the comic as. I’ve used audio recorders now on an iPhone. App called voice record. I’ve played with the gain, usually are 0 or less to avoid peaking, but now the audio is too low. When enhanced it sounds bad. Tried using a Tascan audio recorded and really have to tune it down big time as it gives you a visual peaking monitor and same problem. Once I enhance the audio back it sounds bad. I’ve tried a few methods to enhance the audio. I don’t use increasing the volume. That just adds all kinds of other problems. I use the equalizer in Final Cut Pro and mainly adjust the EQ to flat, add a noise filter, and play with the loudness setting.
They are for indoor or outdoor, but primarily using log or flat. So if you’re shooting with one of those using filmic pro then definitely check them out. But, just be careful in low light especially if you’re using an older phone. It can get noisy, but with newer devices and proper exposure can look great.

If you want to go between two different types of devices (phone/DSLR) you would need to go with the traditional 3.5mm version and use an adapter to the phone.

Just received the d2 version and used it to tape my standup set at a club. Not sure I could tell the difference in sound between the inbuilt mic of my camcorder (Canon Vixia R800) and the Comica. Camera was at the back of the room and on stage I was speaking into the usual stage mic.). I was disappointed but figure I might need to fiddle around a bit. I'm an old fart and a technophobe so that might have something to do with it.
Were you wearing the wireless mic? You should hear a big difference between a room mic on camera and the one attached and close. Maybe it’s possible you can’t run split track audio into that camera and so perhaps you’re only hearing the camera mic in post.
Yes, if you set it to Mono and then adjust the gain on the separate channels in the receiver. Tested this with the Sony a6400 (in camera you can only set the overall level, not individual channels like on more expensive cameras). Saw the TLDR video too, but not sure it actually works like that - or didn’t for me.
@@RobGemmell82 Most are screw lock, the clip secure seems unique to this unit. I guess my question is, if you already have a set of lav mics that you like the sound of, would they work with this unit and how likely of a recommendation would that be. I like the size and honestly 99% of the time we are within 20ft of the talent on set. Sound quality seems to be more independent on the mic used than the transmitter eceiver units.
@@scenesplus True, I was mostly thinking of the Rode Go lav and other budget lavs. I ordered the two transmitter kit today and I have some lavs with the screw lock. I'll try them out and try to report back next week.

No man no , you can’t say sounds great and fool people interested like me. It’s not a test if you don’t give the camera your back and walk around. That’s how you know the mic is solid and reliable. It’s not a full test in this case

Mine came with a rubberized deadcat connection that slips on very nice.

Haven’t tested those but heard they’re ok and can do two mics to one receiver as well.

Yes it’s analog but the quality won’t be affected. Tons of professional mics have analog connections, probably most actually.
Are the batteries replaceable...what if they r worn out?
No. Probably have to get new ones.

Yes the transmitters are the same and that’s actually what was done in this video using the two transmitters to the mobile receiver.

I have the BoomX D, i think they have new wind sock. its very easy to attach on the mic. Takes just 1 second

Any TRS lav should work with it. The only issue you may run into is that the clip that holds the base into the transmitter may not fit.

What is the anti-interference ability of comica. Has it been compared with rode?
Haven’t compared that aspect, but using them both (separately) we really haven’t had any interference issues.
