    Really excited to see your series today. I’ve just started same speed training and have almost identical starting speeds. Can’t wait to see the results.

    I watched your original speed swing videos a while back, I started with speed sticks about 4 months ago however I overdid it with the training.
    Almost daily I was swinging hard as possible, it lead to a strained lat muscle where the pain wrapped around my ribs, it wasnt for the most part that bad in terms of pain however I was never sure of how long to rest when it flared up again.
    Anyway I am fully rested now I feel, and Im going to start again, this video was a helpful reminder. Thanks

      Good luck and hope you don't aggravate the injury. For what it's worth I'm pretty sure SuperSpeed advocate only doing the 3 sessions a week, so you don't overdo it and you give the fast twitch muscles time to recover. Good luck and thanks for watching/commenting!

    Hey Jon! I was wondering if the Carry distance shown in your table "Driver Post C Club" (min 5:20) comes from the PRGR Launch Monitor? Although the PRGR LM gives pretty accurate club head speed , ballspeed and smash factor, I have seen that in comparison to trackman , since the PRGR is missing some data such as spin rate, the Carry distance in PRGR LM is always higher than that of trackman (may be also higer than in a real shot at the Golf course. Are you doing this carry distance comparisons with different softwares?
    Im starting my speed training in a couple of weeks , now im at 91 mph and looking forward to imporving those numbers.
    Amazing content, keep it up!

      Hey, I've always done the speed comparisons using the PRGR so the numbers are compared to numbers from the same device. There's a chance it differs to TrackMan etc but I figured if I always compare on the PRGR it should give me a good view on the gains. Good luck with your training!

    I would love to see what happens if you do the protocol. I’ve done the regular speedsticks and I found gains as well. Really close to what was advertised.

    Jon, I commented on a video many months ago.
    Your swing looks solid but, as you are aware, you have a cast from the top. If you were to correct that you would gain a lot more speed though you may, in the short term , lose accuracy.
    You have said that you are not into the technical side of the swing so ignore the following if you wish.
    Long hitters accelerate smoothly from the top, applying some slight pressure downwards with the trail hand and arm. This delays the cast and possibly increases hand speed. As the wrists uncock the hands actually slow down as the club accelerates to impact. So max handspeed is about 25mph just before lead arm parallel slowing to about 15mph at impact. If you don't exert some pressure downwards with the trail hand, the wrists tend to uncock early (centrifugal effect) and the club cannot accelerate fully. That small downward pressure of the trail hand (and elbow tucking in) can produce much more speed with the same effort.
    You might like to try this with your speed training. Slow your swing at the top, pull down with the right to get the feeling of increased lag, then release. I would expect you to get good speed with less effort. Build from there.

    • @JonPerkinsGolf
      @JonPerkinsGolf  2 года назад

      Hey, appreciate the feedback as always. When you say pull down with the right, do you mean right hand? I'm thinking about lessons, I just go best with small feels, for some reason I struggle when I get too technical - am getting close to needed that help though! Thanks

    • @oldprogolf7292
      @oldprogolf7292 2 года назад

      @@JonPerkinsGolf When I say pull down with the right, I am only saying that slight downward pressure by the fingers of the right hand (while also moving the right elbow down towards the right hip) will have the effect of delaying the centrifugal effect which causes casting. It would also counteract an unconscious force which you may be using yourself causing the cast. Do not grip tight with the right hand.
      I said before that lessons would help. You need to find someone who understands the theory without bothering you with it and that won't be easy as most pros play well but don't know why🙂.
      You might try exaggerating what I suggest with your speed training but keeping the effort to a minimum. I would be surprised if you cannot generate speed with technique rather than effort. At first this will feel more "handsy".
      Club head speed at impact depends almost entirely on hand speed plus "lag"at P5 (half way down).
      Good luck.

      I just looked at your video again. You can swing the c club at 136 mph. I don't know it, I guess the head is light but the big difference to a normal club is the lag you get with it. Look at your swing in slow motion. I can't fully explain this except to say it is not hand speed creating 136mph, it is mainly lag.

    Hi mate, love the videos. I'm started using the original sticks do u find u hav to do more reps than the protocols say? Like they say do 3 swings on either side. But ur finished in 15mins. I upped it to 5 swings either side. Then hit 20 balls after so with each session I'm doing over a 100 swings.

    • @JonPerkinsGolf
      @JonPerkinsGolf  2 года назад +1

      Thanks mate, appreciate that. To be honest I've always just stuck to their guides and not done extra. They talk about the fact you can do too much and are better going all out for a shorter period. I have heard people trying to do maxed out driver swings afterwards - not for practice, just to convert the speed intent onto an actual driver for a few shots afterwards.
      This is all just me though, I'm sure others might do it differently. Good luck!

    Did your speed training stay with you or do you continue on a schedule to keep your gains?

    • @JonPerkinsGolf
      @JonPerkinsGolf  2 месяца назад

      Hey, I'd say in the main it stayed. Possibly a little drop off when not training, but certainly the bulk of it remained. I also started doing some general exercise and and had a lesson or two, so it's hard to say 100%, but that would be my feeling.

    What’s your average total drive distance? Mine is 315 yards (not carry) but my max speed on this with same equipment is 114mph yet yours is over 130?

    • @JonPerkinsGolf
      @JonPerkinsGolf  Год назад

      That sounds odd, we're reversed as I can definitely do it on the speed stick but not hitting driver proper as far as you.

    Do you do a warmup session before starting the speed training?

    • @JonPerkinsGolf
      @JonPerkinsGolf  2 года назад

      Yes, I go through a short warmup. Mostly light stretching and a few golf specific stretches. I've also found you get quicker swings if you've not done a workout before the speed sticks (not that I'm doing workouts right now haha).
