I’m a tech at a Traxxas hobby shop. Super experienced with Traxxas trucks. I’ve watch a ton of repair guides in my time and this one is VERY well done man. Congrats and thank you
Do you know why my senton beeps 3 times followed by a long beep , then it runs for 1 second and doesn't work, i still have steering tho and the esc just flashes slowly
Thank you so much for this video!!! It was a one hundred percent accurate way to do EVERYTHING!! And I have an Arrma Granite. They have the same setup apparently! Thanks again!
Thank you for posting this video! My son's motor burned out in his Arrma Senton a couple of months ago, and I had no idea what I was in for. This was the first video that came up when I searched RUclips. I was able to complete the job in about 25 minutes without any issues. Thanks again.
Thanks a lot. Never would have known how to get the motor out without this. Had trouble getting that little gear off the old motor. It was really stuck on there. Happened to have a hammer nearby. Used the claw end and pryed it right off!
I just looked at the specs for the 5000 mAh 30c I ordered. It’s a ic3 plug. No adapter needed. I’m a newb. Glad I seen this video. I’m learning a lot from these vids. Thanks! 😅
Love the thing, that you actually swap out the brushed motor with the exact same type of motor. All my Traxxas I've had was brushed, and stayed brushed.
Easy way to adjust gear Lash is to use a piece sticky note paper in-between the gears hold tension to hold gears together tighten screws and you will have perfect lash.
you should get those cheap 30 dollar brushless systems, they will last maybe 6 months, but the power is a day and night difference in my granite, wheelies all day, 45mph top speed
Great video!! I'm brand new to the hobby and have the same senton. Needs a new motor and this was perfect for what I need to do. Thanks for sharing and explaining everything! Subscribed as well.
@@51-FS Armma mega 12t brushed. It's the stock motor that it originally came with. Next time it needs replacing I think I'm going to upgrade to a brushless as well as up grade the batteries to 3s.
Oh yeah definitely worth it. I got the 85 amp set up. 3s and it's a blast. Tomorrow I'm getting the 130amp 4s set up and put the 85amp set up on my granite
I'm currently running the 2s. Not allot of hours or charges into them though and will use them after the motor upgrade. When the time comes I may go to 3s.
After having worked on many Arrma 4x4s, I have to say you almost need to be trying in order to actually break something. Very tough RC and they are not difficult to work on when you do need to.
@@fullandtenth6405 ok cool thanks for the info, look like a fun Rc, I currently have the rustler, two slash, three ecx ruckus and the ecx amp monster truck
The red thing with power switch on it, it beeps and boots when I hit forward throttle then it doesn’t beep and beep and hit reverse right away. Have to double tap reverse. So it delays pretty bad before reverse kicks in.
My engine is brand new but I broke of the little hook for the battery wire on the engine mount.. wonder is it’s even worth it to buy a new one and take everything apart? It really dose not effect anything.. it’s just bothering me haha
In April I’m going to order the same one for $10 and $30 shipping and Can I use a 21 tooth pinon gear with that spur gear and what tooth does it come with
These 550s are way to small for the weight of the car , hence the overheating.I have done a 775 conversion for crawling with a 25t pinion and pulls like a train on 3s and 4s .
Just Got an arrma granite. The reverse throttle isn’t working right away have double tap basically no breaks. It’s brand new. Any idea why it’s doing that?
it could be a number of things like controller settings i.e. throttle trim, esc calibration or unfortunately manufacturing defect. best thing i can reccomend is if a hobby shop near you has experience with RC cars, try taking the car in have them look at it, they may be abe to help you diagnose the issue and fix it.
My senton comes with a 8.4 volt stock battery and when you put the 2 cell battery 7.4v will you loose any power at all and do you have any tire recommendations because I got mine 3 weeks ago and my tires are already tearing and going down on tread and I want to put a faster motor or battery in it.if you reply to me that would be really helpful
Upgrading your battery to a 2s will actually gain you a bit of acceleration, and if you go with one of the 5000 mah batteries you will get more run time as well. I made a video about installing Pro-Line tires, and I would certainly recommend either the trenchers or badlands from them. here is a link to the video: ruclips.net/video/_XoVVAPegGw/видео.html And as far as the motor goes, Spektrum now makes a 3s setup you can get for a hundred bucks! well worth it. here is a link to that: www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SPMXSEMC01
Hey, great video. I'll be doing this as soon as I get a replacement motor. I was curious if you ended up having any trouble with the pinion coming loose since you didn't use thread locker?
I honestly did not run it much with the replacement motor so no, though I do realize that was a mistake. I ended up going with brushless after a while, and I did use thread locker on that pinion
@@ryankelso3545 never use thread locker on the pinon never just don't ever .. it's so tiny if you use thread locker it will strip next time you try to break it lose
The symptoms for my bad motor was as follows: turn remote and car battery on and they wouldn't beep telling me they were synced up. But I could steer the car no problem. I could hold down the trigger and nothing would happen. While holding the trigger, I used my other hand to spin the drive shaft and suddenly the motor would spring to life and tires spin for a few seconds(watch you don't get your fingers pinched). Replaced the motor and all fixed and WOW is the car a lot faster and smoother than I remember.
At my local hobby shop, a brand new 12 turn motor from Arrma costs 22 dollars. The cheapest brushless setup I can buy from the same place would cost me about 100 dollars. Amazon.com does have some motor and esc combos for as low as 30 dollars, however (and I am willing to be proven wrong) I highly doubt that these would compare to even the cheap setup at the hobby shop. Based on my experience, these cheap brushless motor and esc combos are not very durable, difficult to setup, and less powerful and efficient than the name brands that cost more. So to answer your question, a brushed motor replacement is still cheaper, and it is easier than converting to brushless. The extra speed from a good brushless setup is nice though, so I see where you're coming from.
This helped me allot to fix my boy's RC. Thank you so much for the great and accurate explanation
just got a brushless, thanks for showing how to replace motor.
First time owning a nice RC truck I had it one day and I got a little rock in the motor your video is very helpful to someone who is new to the hobby

A good tip is to put a piece of paper between the gears ti get the right mesh
What kind of paper ?notebook or yellow note ?

I just bought this truck with and an extra battery the 5000 30c. I guess you need that extra wire/ plug adapter?
If the battery you got has the IC5 connector you will need the adapter to run the battery as the vehicle has an IC3 connector out of the box
What tool u use to get the thing on the moter I need to take off to put on the new moter?

what I used is an alan wrench that came with the vehicle. I believe it was a 1.5mm, though I cant remember the size for certain.

Get a Ifix it kit they work great for all these screws and easier on your fingers.
