Thanks for reacting to this video...I absolutely love this song...made me cry the first 5-10 times I heard it...the words are from the heart and teach people to respect others by being considerate of others' feelings...it's kind of an anthem for people who are insecure to stick up for themselves to just be themselves as they don't need other's opinions to validate who they are. A must hear song for anyone and at any age.
Ugh, still to this day I think he's gorgeous, and yes, Freddie is a reference to Queen. Queen asked him VERY early on, before this even came out, to be their new singer, but he said no because he wanted to be his own artist. First time I ever heard him, it was, like, three in the morning and I couldn't sleep, and I'm like, "Is that Freddie Mercury...? No, that voice is too young," and I was right, given that he was only 23 when he did this. He's actually REALLY intelligent: knows all these different languages and stuff. The weird thing is, eh, they white-wash him in these videos. He's half Lebanese, and I've seen him live, and he's darker-skinned in person. I don't know why that's still so common in the industry.
This song makes sense when you know the back story he wanted to get signed to a music company they said no so he went home and made this song as a f*** you to them lol
Fun facts, Mika is from Lebanon, grew up in Paris, he speaks 5 languages. I would not guess he was not a native English speaker from this video. Much respect, obviously worked hard in life.
you are right, but Mika speaks English. he makes several/many mistakes in French, Spanish, Italian and the other languages (I think Arabic and Mandarin). The language he speaks fluently is English, although he was born in Lebanon and raised in Paris.
I love this song, and the cool video too. Pity that he is a one hit wonder, because he sounds a lot like Freddie Mercury to me. His range seems so epic.
He's not a one hit wonder :) He has five albums out that are all great and touring all around the world although he is most famous in italy and france now.
He’s more famous in Europe than in the US, if that’s where you’re at. This is probably his most well-known song, but he really does go beyond a one hit wonder.
@@specificsoup I'm from New Zealand. I only heard this song, and one other which I cannot remember. I know the video had a lot of faces made up of hands, like what they did in the Helping Hands scene from the Labyrinth movie, but the title of the song I cannot remember.
@@darrenbent7601 Hello_Internet and youtube can help! Mika is a european everlasting wonder! Since 2007. He will be 40 years old in august 2023. He is a musical and sociological phenomenon!

Such an underrated voice. He Is brilliant!
I don’t care that I’m probably the only 16 year old in 2024 who absolutely loves this song
The whole album is excellent
This is a great album!!
I loved this and he was everywhere for a while.
Ryan Renolds and Will Ferrel did a video covering this the other month. I *knew* I knew that song! Thank you for killing an ear bug!
its because the record labels wanted him to conform, but he wanted to be himself and be happy. that is what the song is about.
@scottbaird6046 never knew that makes such a catchy song have much more meaning now 👍

Freddie from Queens 😂 he was friends with Benny Blanco from the Bronx
He’s french 🎉
No, he is half Lebanese, half American by his parents.
But he speaks French very well because he lived in France when he was young.
Bro I thought you were Eddie Murphy for a second.
