- Classic Game Room HD reviews FORZA Motorsport 3 for Xbox 360. Forza 3 is the huge sequel to the immensely popular Forza 2 which was released in 2007. This CGR review of Forza 3 has gameplay from Forza 3 showing game play of cars in Forza 3 on Xbox 360 in HD. Numerous makes and models, dozens of tracks and car customization "Forza" style, Forza 3 packs a lot of content but differs little from Forza 2. Visually the game is a bit disappointing with stale graphics, sloppy backgrounds and stereotypical weather effects. This is 2009 and they can do better. Need for Speed Shift did better and I expected more from Forza 3. As CGR is an avid Forza 2 fan there's a bit of hair splitting disappointment with Forza 3, but it's still an amazing game packing hours and weeks of gameplay. The graphics creation program is relatively similar except this time you can design on a white clipboard rather than just on the hood of the car. Numerous new cars are in the game like the Nissan 370 Z, numerous old cars are in the game like the old school Chevrolet Camaro. Most of your favorite tracks from the previous game return, a nice cockpit view is added and collision damage is as much fun as it ever was. A crappy rewind feature was inserted to make Forza 3 more casual and I felt it was generally easier all around. Fans of the series may feel like they've seen it all before, others may not care and soak up the cockpit view and new tracks. In any event, Forza 3 delivers a lot of driving on Xbox 360.

Really Mark? You can't notice how much better the graphics are than Forza 2?
The racecourse is to me look a lot better
And the cars look like they have more of a visual upgrade unless the cars just don't look as good as to what this guy standard is
I cant beleive he didnt think the graphics had been improved! The jump in graphics between forza 2 and 3 was massive. Cars had more details, there were less jaggies, environments where more detailed and the lighting was improved.
can you tell is whether its stable 60fps like some recent racing games? or less?
How do i choose what cars i want to race on offline mode? i want to play free mode with me facing the cars i want to race but they r chosen randomly. am i doing something wrong?
Does anyone know why when im trying to rewind a race, why doesn't it let me just rewing it like mark does it, it just skips like 3 sec of a race and i can choose if i want to go from there or rewind another 3 sec?
i cant get to the replays! i just saw that when u end a race, on his there was a "view replay" button. But on mine, there isn't! i dont know if I have a PAL version, but so?
so do we have to unlck all the cars or do we get it from the start??

I have to admit im starting to watch ur reviews more as your reviewing big name games again.
can i still use flappy paddles if i dont want to buy a clutch pedal?

can you transfer you're money and/or levels/car paint designs from forza 2 to forza 3?

The framerate seems variable, is that just youtube compression or something. I don't own an Xbox 360 but I can't imagine it would have framerate issue like in this video.

@GenAdams ummm not sure if you noticed the small button under the video - you can change the video quality to HD there - hope this helps...

I love this game. This and GT5 coming not too far off make me very happy. It's nice when a series has competition, and while Forza and GT are based on the exact same theme, they're different enough for me to find a slightly different appreciation in each (Forza more for the racing, GT more for the driving).
thanks FORZA review GEDDIT!!!Ive just got this game and compared to GT4, which I played for years, forza is streets ahead,although the thing that makes me crazy with Forza is that you don't see the driver changing gear when your in the cockpit view.Also when will they create a racing game where you race at night AND in the rain.Now that would be a challenge .Maybe you know of some that do
my brother has a 360 with Forza and I have a ps3 with GT5. He played for about 3 days in his room. Then never again. Now he is in my room more than me playing GT5 HAHA Love him
good point, any game with over 400 branded cars is going to be a winner

This guy ain't hating on Forza 3. It's just his opinion and a critic review in a way. nothing wrong. He's a sweet reviewer and it's a sweet game. I love GT5 and Forza myself lol

i got all three forza games. I love the realism when you crash and take damage and stuff, that made the biggest inpact on me, i was a gran turismo fan, but that changed when forza 1 came out xD
It's real weird hearing mark sound so informative and not as wacky like usual xD

i think its one of the best looking tracks in the game.
Maybe the colouring of the trees reminds you too much of Colin Mc Rae 2.0 or something!

Forza 3 for Customization and Touge
GT5 for Tracks and Car Collecting.
Both games are great.

But i do know one thing that forza has above the competition - an incredible deep customization engine

@PinoyZo1 Yes it will, they are working on it as we speak, and I watched about three videos demonstrating the damage physics.

Also you said the graphics aren't that great today, em... how could they possibly improve them? The graphics are amazing! Making them better would cause the FPS to drop.

I live in England, and the pink car at the start is called a Honda Jazz =P. This game looks pretty cool, but I don't have a 360, so I'm going to have to wait for Gran Turismo. It's going to be absolutely epic! I just can't be bothered to wait until March 2010... lol
I enjoy CGR reviews a lot and more often than not I find myself agreeing with them, but I really feel this one is facepalm-worthy. In fact, I actually physically facepalmed myself - twice! - while watching it, which is something that I practically never do.
Still, I respect your right to an opinion, whatever it might be. I'll chalk it down to Venus being unusually close to Neptune or whatever. Eagerly awaiting part two.

Your right on that but gt5 is coming out in March and I have heard it includes damage. Also the game will include about 5 times or more cars than prologue.

The change from Forza 2 is huge imo,
when you look at the changes the GT series have made.
I always felt it was the same game updated a little each time.
Kaz said he was going to improve the physics in GT5. Will they compare to FM3? We're not sure yet.

it is hd but youtube is rendering it slow piece by piece so it takes 2 hours to get HD

i dont think you should call the game too easy when you do use aoutomatic. however i love your reviews and have watched all of them. they are really really amazing

@chuckles1252 I did though, enjoy how drifting was implemented into Forza 3. I feel like that was a huge improvement over Forza 2. Drifting in Forza 2 felt like I was doing something the game didn't want me to.

Thats true but it will come very close there is talk in the game business of graphics that look identical to the movie avatar. I dont know what you think of it but to me it looks quite close to life.
Because the lack of background music (6:40 - 7:56) makes the tires sound really loud...

Rewind sucks. It takes away that "omg last lap PLZ no mistake now" - feeling. I recently picked up Test Drive Unlimited. It was a revelation in car/racing games for me. Now all i'm waiting for is TDU 2 that's coming in January :)))
