as someone who's been getting into ffxi in anticipation for the upcoming return to vanadiel raids in ffxiv, i think now would be a perfect time for a follow up video to this!

wow. ff14 player.. thinking about trying ffxi for the story mainly. THIS is exactly what I was looking for! best getting started video Ive watched yet! Thank you!
Any plans to make a follow-up video still? This was super helpful at least getting me through the launcher though, so very much appreciated the comprehensive overview
I reminisce about this game so much, actually sat up all night last night chatting to someone i used to play with in those days. Ff11 did something very different to solidify the community built with in it.
Nice video, man! I recently made a new character in FFXI and it's great to be back. At first, I was a bit hesitant because of all the comments about how the game is no longer the same, but now I regret not coming back earlier. I'm having a blast exploring and unlocking stuff. What I loved about the game back then is, for the most part, intact. And the community still seems like I remember it. Now I know what I'm gonna do everyday for years, and that is enjoy FFXI.
Your last video got me into playing this game, so I want to say thank you for that! I've had a blast playing it, and even played FF14 for a while too. Kids these days have no idea how ridiculous it used to be to install some games back in the late 90s early 2000s. They have it so easy now! I'm glad they might get a taste of what it used to be like thanks to your video. Take care my dude.
Yeah, PlayOnline is definitely a time capsule for better and for worse, but really I think the whole launcher is part of the game's charm now. It's definitely a pain but I think if it was gone I would miss it. Still, it's a battle we all face so we can all share our horror stories about it, and that brings us all together.
Same story with me. I went through all the trouble of playing the classic version of the game on a private server and it was a fun experience as someone who has never played it before.
First day I logged in, In 2007 i ran into three players. One was high level. He invited me into his LS and helped me level, escorted me to juno and also helped get my sub job and AF gear. The community was brilliant. My favourite way to level was BLM burn parties. I'm coming back to FF 11 on steam deck.
I started Christmas of 03, and tried real hard to be a helper. But back then, the capitalist aspect made the game toxic. I honestly loved and HATED the game, but that seems to be based on your server. I was on Asura, and it was hell. What was yours?
I just wanted to say, thank you, my first time playing FFXI a couple years was literally raging for hours trying to create my play online account, logging into the game, realizing I had to type "/map" to open my map and I literally noped the hell away from the game. However despite months after dawntrail's launch, square still hasn't fixed XIV's bug that doesn't allow older PCs to boot the game anymore and that genuinely depresses me, my friend played through a real reborn, when he got into heavenward he not only started to fall in love with my favorite class (DRK) he also started to get really interested in the game's history, and I wanted to accompany him in his journey, and now he defeated thordan and is officially farther on the history than me. So I decided to download Horizon XI and try FFXI again, and I've been enjoying it so far actually, it reminds me of Morrowind, which is one of my favorite games ever, and every bit of information I can find on this game makes the experience far smoother, and I hope one day my friends will actually try XI for us to die to a level 5 rabbit together. I'm currently levelling warrior and red mage, really excited to unlock samurai and Dark knight, and to explore vanadiel!
That dichotomy of "well at least there's no microtransactions" while showing the Mog Station store of FF14 is hilarious because that thing's very existence pisses me off something fierce that those are a *triple-dip* in payments for a cosmetic nothing that will inevitably die because it's an MMO.

absolutely amazing video. i've been looking in at ffxi from the outside for a while now, and the overwhelming amount of things going on that i didnt understand unfortunately kept me from getting into it each time i tried it out. however this makes it sooo much easier to sort of parse. also that egg bit. god.
So I started playing RPGs with final fantasy 3 and Chrono trigger played all up until final fantasy 10 took a break and now decided to get into 11 and 12. Thanks for the video and keep up the good work.
MANNNNNNN that playonline song hit me right in the FEELS!!!!!! so much time spent watching family guy and the oblongs with that song playing in the background while an update happened.
Sober, I've found myself to be a huge fan of what you do here despite my own quiet nature towards interacting on it, irrelevant stuff- just wanted to say I love how this video, as others have, wasted no time in diving into meaningful considerations. Granted, it's because you're talking on a game that's important to you and referring to the previous vids on it, but I just wanted to say I enjoyed those starting seconds for emphasizing something so specific to, well I was gonna say art and "yes!" that, but moreso life overall. Mostly wanted to say in the least concise or straight forward way, the starting seconds reminded me of the important message of an ebbits comic often simplified to "I can't be an auteur of that" or "Interpreting is generative". The comic got popular on tumblr and the author responded to the thorough explanation a user gave the piece, but it put words to something many of us have experienced and your videos touch on regularly and rather specifically in the case for FF11. Beyond the 1s and 0s, the design ideas, the balance, the gameplay, whatever- the experience you have in itself adds value and is a creative endeavor. Hell the comic even namedropped MMOs as an example of that. But hearing you speak on FF11 and all it means to you, specifically, beyond what it 'is'- is a peak into that interpretation that you display very well, man. And I'm well aware from my own attempts to explain my experiences in games that no matter how close you get, or the breadth of how much you share and say, it just never feels exactly like you gave the clearest view of that experience because it's kinda impossible. It's personal to one individual, it's filtered through a lens when shared EVEN at the same time it's created, and it's unique and locked in time- but man can be it be fun to attempt to explain and hell if it ain't an absolute treat to catch glimpses at when someone puts forth the effort to share it as you have. If I were to needlessly fumble my words and intended meaning of what I want to say after listening to less than a full minute of this video I'd say you're videos themselves are a creative outlet that often times exist to attempt to present what you created when experiencing those games. Or you talk about the experiences of those that made it and those are fucking incredible topics that you tackle too, lol. Uh, I'll actually watch the damned video now instead of pausing to rant off shit as some sort of backlog of thoughts since I don't usually comment. Been trying to change that (as well as dabbling in multiple comments because algorithms are weird and I want to support a touch better on that bullshit front).
I may have to pick FFXI up to play along with these videos, although I question if I have the free time to invest in it... but I’m definitely considering it and looking forward to more of these videos! :)
FFXI rewards some prior research, I I figure this video helps, but before that, a bit of a wiki trawl to look into stuff like inventory options, permanent key items, Records of Eminence and Rhapsodies of Vana'diel can help a lot. Particularly in FFXIclopedia, pages for zones usually mention the quests and missions they're involved in, so you can try and make the most of each trip, even if travel is a lot faster (travel options also being quite worth looking into).
Wow, was just wondering if you were making new videos or not. I straight up hopped into the eden private server yesterday for a new toon. Looking forward to this video. Keep up the great work!
Technically, I'm always working on new videos, it's just more whether I get them to the finish line which is in question. Seems like my video hit good timing, seems like the FFXI bug has bitten some other people as well! Regardless, thank you!
My experience exploring trying to find Gilgamesh's hideout. "Instructions unclear ended up on a different continent" Also Squenix forced me to choose Mithra. My confirmation code started with UWWU. What else was I supposed to do when I was on Discord with all the friends that booli'd me with getting ffxi.
thank you sir! I'm going to start my adventure in final fantasy XI for the first time and I've never played FFXIV so I was very confused at first about what I should do in the beginning. And now I'm curious to talk to Ken :)))
pffft... imma a Hume, but rather pick my lovely Windy as me main, Bastok is sooo gloomy. lawl but in all seriousness, this vid kinda fun to watch, hence kudos! ;) also, unlike FF14, one can jump to other nations to re-experience their side of base main story as well, provided that u finished story on current nation's u're on.
It's interesting to me in part because of what game I'm playing now (another square entry) but I spent most of my youth and teenage years thinking Square just abandoned the ideas that didn't work out the first time like FF2's leveling but recently it's been coming to my attention that no- they saw that failure, gave it some time to collect itself, and tried again- often to much better results.
I feel like FFXI should be getting so much more than what it is getting honestly, such an amazing time capsule to jump inside of. Just made a brand new account for retail since I lost all my logins to my past accounts over the 14 or so years. Cannot wait to get back in and see whats been going on. I see leveling has become a thing of ease now cannot wait to just dive right in and start getting the GEARS ahaha
It's in the process of being finished (with the other two parts) and due to how Covid has hit, unfortunately I have had to take extra work which makes both playing an MMO and working in videos a very slow process. But hopefully it'll be coming in the next few months as things pick up!
Man I watched this after choosing my character and server. But I did start at each nation to get a feel for the city. Bastok by far had the best, so is my home city now.
You mention you play with steam controller. Is there some magic trick to get it to work? I’ve tried for hours to get it to work through windower on steam with no luck. Admin all on it seems to default to my basic desktop config after launching. If I change my desktop config to the one I want to play with it no longer recognizes it’s controller specific inputs.
There are two ways to do it. The first option requires you to run FFXI from Steam, which is harder than it looks because initially steam only really looks for the POL launcher, not the game itself (so it stops detecting it as soon as you get into the game.) You have to make sure that you get the actual game is detected. After that, you can use Steam's 'Big Screen' mode to change the detection of the keyboard inputs or emulate a direct input. A much easier (though paid) way is to use ReWASD, which is a paid controller remapper from Daemon Tools. It has steam controller support and allows you to not only adjust the steam controller as a native xbox contoller (meaning no configuring required), but I also use it for really easy macros. This is the method I go with just because it gives me a lot of customization.
@@SoberDwarf Thanks for reply. I think I broke it’s functionality somehow. Had it working for a bit launching windower through steam but since then no luck. May of broke when I brought up steam overlay in game to remap a control on my config. After troubleshooting for a few days and trying a problem called GLOSC the game now no longer recognizes any controller to use in game while steam controller is plugged in. Think I might just stick to the regular Xbox controller for fear of messing it up more. It’s a shame cause I found a really good steam config for the game. Convinced the author to post it on steam community configs. If you want to check it out it can be found under windower configs after adding the program to steam. Think it’s called Yam’s config.
@@SoberDwarf heyyy i have a small question. Do i need to deliver the finishing blow to get exp with a party? If my friends kill the monster for me, will i gain exp?
Yeah, there isn't any exp boost for a killing blow, so even if you only hit the enemy once, you get full exp. If you notice any variation in what you get, it's mostly due to the slight level variation between enemies and the level difference.
Fine! I'll reinstall the game and give it another go. I missed out on the hayday, as I was a big time DAOC player when this was living its glory days. But here we go, installed and ready to jump in.

@@benbillybobjoe Yeah, I tried to edit out what I could, though the POL ID I kept just because I needed to illustrate exactly what it looked like because it's easy to miss it. Heyo! Second time watching your whole video and I was wondering, are you still playing the game? I'm about to start my journey in Vana'diel in roughly a week or so and you do seem like a pretty fun and nice individual to have around (and from time to time get some help from in game too maybe heheheuihidfuifhds) ^^ I'll probably be playing in Bahamut! It's either that or Odin, the only thing about Odin that scares me a lot is japanese people, as a non-japanese speaker :P
I am! I am personally on Odin because I like to play solo a lot but also enjoy a healthy economy. I find it's not to hard to find English speakers there, but I hear a lot of good things about Bahamut as well!
@@SoberDwarf Cool! I'll probably do some research before choosing the home world since well, three years have passed since you uploaded this and things might've changed now, good thing server travel is a thing anyway :" Btw, XIV mentor with roughly 5100 hours on Chaos/ Omega here, I honestly can't wait to set foot (my Mithra's) on Vana'diel and get culture shocked really hard, never been this hyped to play a 22 years old game.
I tried to get into this game but ended up in the forest starter city and spent THREE HOURS trying to figure out how to leave the town and just gave up lol.
Hi there, my friend! You should do a review from this gem: "D", a horror themed interactive movie and adventure game developed by Warp and directed by Kenji Eno. It was first published by Panasonic for the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer in 1995, later being ported to the Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and MS-DOS. The story follows Laura Harris as she goes to investigate a hospital after learning her father went on a mass murdering spree and barricaded himself inside. The hospital morphs into a castle upon her arrival, which she must explore to find her father. The player controls Laura through computer generated full motion video (FMV) sequences, and must complete the game within two hours without a save or pause function. Yep, the game's name is just that, the word "D".
I couldn't get past the screen after you put in you PO ID #. It asks for my PO password and my SE password, but it fails shortly after that. I can't get past it. I know what the passwords are I use them all the time so it's not that. I'm not sure really what happened there. I know I changed both passwords before I started the PO Viewer. Did that break it?
Few things it could be. I had an issue where it didn't save my SE password in settings correctly and kept loading up an old one I had used. I ended up having to delete the login.bin in the usr folder of PlayOnline and letting it generate a new one, then added the correct information.
@SoberDwarf I appreciate the advice. I just refunded it on Steam. I tried changing my passwords as suggested to me on reddit, but it kept telling me they were incorrect. I appreciate the guide, but I was defeated by the Playonline Viewer, it seems.
That's Odin Server hahaha seen some familiar names I been around for 20 years now started on ifrit then we got moved in the great merge and rest is history best times I have had in a game ever FF11 is a classic and will always remain at the top as one of the hardest games but most fun and enjoyable experiences for MMO adventures the days of massive guild events for dynamis or taking on the gods in sky or diving into sea for even more action and all the other areas added such a joy 👍 ❤️
If you are a new player deciding on what server to play on, and your intention is to experience the story and dabble in the endgame, I do not suggest Asura. It is riddled with bots and RMT. Bahamut is the way to go for English speakers. If you are the type of player who is willing to push past hurdles and want to get into the endgame quickly, Asura should work fine for you.
This game was my life for many years. Siren server, elvaan, whm/blu/brd/mnk all maxed at 75. All classes at 37 for subs. Except for corsair, scholar, dancer, or puppeteer. That was when my ps2 was stolen. Never played again...
THANK YOU so much for this. I just returned to the game for nostalgia's sake (quit back in 2004) and every other "guide" like this I watched is extremely disorganized and uninformative, they all assume you have a certain level of knowledge which is kind of ridiculous for a "new players" guide
I mean, you're asking someone who has spent well over 400 actual days of their life in the game world so I can't say I'm unbiased. But trying to be honest about it; It's difficult to really commit time too since it requires so much investment in time and energy from the player, it doesn't respect your time like other games, even if the QoL makes it a lot better than it was. But there is a lot to get out of it too, even if you don't stick around. The stories have really good moments. The gameplay is fun in a way that's different from every modern MMO. It's slow-paced but feels more like a world in that regard. Honestly, if you can convince one other person to hop in with you, then it's definitely worth it. Solo? It can be but you'd have to ask yourself more what you're wanting out of the experience.
I. Alright, so I've dealt with a ton of arbitrary oldschool messes in my time but this sign up procedure just shocked my system to its core. I keep thinking "Yeah, that's oldschool online stuff... wait... still going... another layer of obfuscation? ANOTHER login? ANOTHER potential dead spot where you wait on an email or get refused entry for a day???" It just kept going, what an undertaking developing this thing must have been. I'd bet half the convoluted nature of FF11 comes from their move to make it cross platform so ludicrously early into console gaming even coming online, but man, seeing it in motion like this is a shock lol.
As a non-binary folk who had the EXACT same experience as you had at 15:40, but did not realize that is what they had done until you talked about your own experience, thank you for this lovely video!
On s school night? I am old,..........Was fresh out of HS when the XI PS2 hard-drive was released. It was the ideal situation to play that mmo. No homework, no studying, fresh off graduation....With a summer job, so some $$$ in my pocket.
While I'd be the last to complain on ANY direction shift you sought out, I can appreciate the sentiment on not peddling nostalgia and instead making the videos more approachable without a comprehensive 'literacy' test for that specific game. To be honest though? I doubt it's fair to say waxing poetic on your experiences is the same as peddling nostalgia if you put the legwork into presenting it, mostly because, again, no one experiences things the same way so while parts of your tale could be nostalgic to others who had similar takes on events in the game, your own take holds more than enough value to open up who can enjoy that content a bit. But I get the worry, and how some stories might be a bit closer to nostalgia bait than 'exclusively personal interpretation' or what have you. Just woefully attempting to alleviate your worry on creating a vid that's too exclusive to those that 'get it' because they were there. I am not doing a good job of not making long as fuck comments here, jeez lol.
your vid rocks and helped me a lot when i first started playing a few months ago, but after playing for a while, i think HorizonXI is the way to go nowadays.... i played on retail for a few months on bahamut and it was dead. a few players, but usually empty. i thought that's just how the game was supposed to be, but naw. one night on the free HorizonXI server, and there were people EVERYWHERE until i get to the point where im wanting to do the expansions that HorizonsXI doesnt have, im sticking on HorizonXI, but 13 a month for a game with less players than a free alternative isnt worth it imo
Man, what were they thinking with this PlayOnline garbage? Somehow I have the accounts set-up properly but I can't login to my SE account through PlayOnline using the same password I use on the SE site and FFXIV with no problem...
Sorry, I know this is a while back, but Japan back in 2002 was still way behind in internet/online functionality compared to the western markets, the real question is why is it Still this hard to just play there game, making it to the 35 minute mark in this video is proof you really want to play this game.
I've been pushing for this for awhile. Though from what I've heard, SquareEnix hasn't really kept old server versions and the current dev team is probably too understaffed to be able to get one going from old install files (which is what the current private servers are doing.)
I feel the same. I played on a private server that claimed to be classic for awhile, but ultimately it just wasn't the same. I'm done with FFXI unless an official classic server becomes reality.
Nah no thanks, I don't want to go back to camp NMs which only spawn once per day and are camped by bots or kill the same mobs for hours just to get a few exp. I did it for years and tbh the game is better now, but it's hard to get back to the "modern" version with all the nostalgic, but the worst part is that all old friends quit (they are older now and changed their life) so it's not the same anymore.
I don't even know what half of those npc's do... I tried to return to retail in 2013. I bought Seekers Edition, played 13 hours, then uninstalled. Was definitely not the game I thought I was buying after being gone for so long. It was like a completely different game that just used FFXI character models. I think adding the fast travel options was the nail in the coffin for me. Gathering together at a crag and hitting the road together on chocobo's with your pt was always part of the fun. Making that obsolete was a bad move. And the fact that you literally don't have to talk to a single person, kinda defeats my pov of what an mmo is. Thank Altana for community servers.
I totally agree with you, though the issue wasn't so much the dev team made it obsolete as much as it was that community wasn't there to have that experience. XI just simply wasn't seeing numbers of new players to where you might have only seen 2-3 people looking for a party in Valkurm at a time on lesser populated servers, and that wall was causing a lot of people to leave because it was a massive content gate. Simply put, that experience was gone regardless if FFXI made those changes or not. Honestly, while I really hate not having that experience again, it was more the dev team working towards solutions to get people into the end game quicker so they could start experiencing content with other players again, like with JP parties or Omen, and all things considered with the small budget they have, they did a good job at keeping as close to the original experience as they could while making it accessible for new/returning players to get into the game.
@@SoberDwarf Yea, I kinda noticed on one of those servers that ya highlighted that the pop was just over 700, so I guess they needed to do something about that. A few of the community servers have bigger pops than that. Now with Project Topaz I expect to see those numbers go higher.

Your video solidified my want/need to play FFXI! Thanks! I have everything set up just have to wait for the 2hr update 😅
absolutely amazing video. i've been looking in at ffxi from the outside for a while now, and the overwhelming amount of things going on that i didnt understand unfortunately kept me from getting into it each time i tried it out. however this makes it sooo much easier to sort of parse. also that egg bit. god.
You are back?!
"I'm Back: A SoberDwarf Story"
I love your videos so far man. I got hooked on your XI difficulty video. Thank you for representing my favorite game of all time.
So I started playing RPGs with final fantasy 3 and Chrono trigger played all up until final fantasy 10 took a break and now decided to get into 11 and 12. Thanks for the video and keep up the good work.
Thank you!
MANNNNNNN that playonline song hit me right in the FEELS!!!!!! so much time spent watching family guy and the oblongs with that song playing in the background while an update happened.
loved the intro , it's a declaration of love to the game :)
Been trying to change that (as well as dabbling in multiple comments because algorithms are weird and I want to support a touch better on that bullshit front).
welcome back buddy.
thanks this really helped me to get into the game. i hope the next video is coming soon!
Heck yeah. My guy
What the fuck man. The writing in this is incredible. Well done.
Regardless, thank you!
just got back into it... really nice!
My experience exploring trying to find Gilgamesh's hideout.
"Instructions unclear ended up on a different continent"
Also Squenix forced me to choose Mithra. My confirmation code started with UWWU. What else was I supposed to do when I was on Discord with all the friends that booli'd me with getting ffxi.
only issue is that on a free trial the book isnt there 35:12
thank you sir! I'm going to start my adventure in final fantasy XI for the first time and I've never played FFXIV so I was very confused at first about what I should do in the beginning. And now I'm curious to talk to Ken :)))
pffft... imma a Hume, but rather pick my lovely Windy as me main, Bastok is sooo gloomy. lawl
but in all seriousness, this vid kinda fun to watch, hence kudos! ;)
also, unlike FF14, one can jump to other nations to re-experience their side of base main story as well, provided that u finished story on current nation's u're on.
I needed more ffxi content on RUclips, thanks for this 😀
Damn I appreciate your time making this video. Keep up the good work!
I see leveling has become a thing of ease now cannot wait to just dive right in and start getting the GEARS ahaha
another point for bastok is a bunch of the major players in the first storyline are situated there
Ah fuck, the image of a max level character screaming at newbies and chasing them down to help is universally funny.
Holy smokes. Theres a lot that has changed since i left in probably 2005-2006. Miss the game like crazy.
this will alwayb by me fav mmo... and ive played a few but this was my first and still my fav.
Was the second part to this ever made? :(
Thanks for the tips though, this helped me sooo much!
It's in the process of being finished (with the other two parts) and due to how Covid has hit, unfortunately I have had to take extra work which makes both playing an MMO and working in videos a very slow process. But hopefully it'll be coming in the next few months as things pick up!
Gonna need you to link that chiptune song during the beginning
Man I watched this after choosing my character and server. But I did start at each nation to get a feel for the city. Bastok by far had the best, so is my home city now.
i dont have enough conquest points to purchase the shield :(
Ah I miss this game. Played from 16 to 23, 7 years of my life.
Nice, im starting the game now
Awesome! I hope it goes well for you!
@@SoberDwarf oh, so i have to get one blow in. Thanks!
Fine! I'll reinstall the game and give it another go. I missed out on the hayday, as I was a big time DAOC player when this was living its glory days.
But here we go, installed and ready to jump in.
The reason for so much account security is because key logging and account hacking were a major problem back in the day.
Not sure if you care but your POL ID is showing a few times starting at timestamp 10:15
and at the top of the SE webpage you can see that you're SE login ID is TheSoberDwarf... :(
Meaning people with ill intentions just need to keep trying to guess your passwords to lock you out or worse--actually get access. I think RUclips has tools in edit to add little censor boxes. At least it use to.
@@benbillybobjoe Yeah, I tried to edit out what I could, though the POL ID I kept just because I needed to illustrate exactly what it looked like because it's easy to miss it. I'm not particularly worried, the account is basically a demonstration account for the video and I don't have any worthwhile personal information on there.
Good luck getting into my FFXI account though, I'm behind 4 passwords!
We miss you
SoberDwarf: ,,(...) even worse (...) in the city you have backpipes plasting through your ears the entire time." Me: ,,Ok, ähhhm"... ... ...signs-up-for-San d'Oria
Heck they even have chaining in this? Between that and how leveling stats works they really did continue a single thread of design up to The Last Remnant now didn't they.
This is so helpful! I just downloaded the game a couple days ago, but my graphics look soooooo bad. How does yours look so smooth??
I followed this guide by @NextGamesGuide and it does a great job at walking you through it all if you're familiar with Windower!
ruclips.net/video/xD4aCHdYcSk/видео.html
I feel like it'd be more time efficient to get my tax guy to set up an account. Nothing gives me more anxiety than forms.
what addon or plugin is it to change your targeting arrow?
Man, i still remember my pol id by heart. Did i have a problem?
So when is part 2 ready? :)
It's mostly done. My subscription ran out before I could finish with the video so I've been hopping on during free weeks to put it together.
at least after you beat the first boss (install) you get some amazing music
Heyo! Second time watching your whole video and I was wondering, are you still playing the game? I'm about to start my journey in Vana'diel in roughly a week or so and you do seem like a pretty fun and nice individual to have around (and from time to time get some help from in game too maybe heheheuihidfuifhds) ^^
I'll probably be playing in Bahamut!
I'll probably do some research before choosing the home world since well, three years have passed since you uploaded this and things might've changed now, good thing server travel is a thing anyway :"
Btw, XIV mentor with roughly 5100 hours on Chaos/ Omega here, I honestly can't wait to set foot (my Mithra's) on Vana'diel and get culture shocked really hard, never been this hyped to play a 22 years old game.
Yep, the game's name is just that, the word "D".
very good guide tho the "Vana dale" does bother me quite a bit lol same as "Sanda Oria"
You gonna check out horizon?
5min mark little montage for the series is ace stuff :P
Rerolling for the aesthetic 900 hours in, we're all there together, bud. All crying and grinding in our off time to switch mains together, bud ;-;
love this
I wish I could make a game with you
That's Odin Server hahaha seen some familiar names I been around for 20 years now started on ifrit then we got moved in the great merge and rest is history best times I have had in a game ever FF11 is a classic and will always remain at the top as one of the hardest games but most fun and enjoyable experiences for MMO adventures the days of massive guild events for dynamis or taking on the gods in sky or diving into sea for even more action and all the other areas added such a joy 👍 ❤️
If you are a new player deciding on what server to play on, and your intention is to experience the story and dabble in the endgame, I do not suggest Asura. It is riddled with bots and RMT. Bahamut is the way to go for English speakers. If you are the type of player who is willing to push past hurdles and want to get into the endgame quickly, Asura should work fine for you.
more videos please.
Correction: Empress Ring is only better than Emperors Ring if you party 6-7 days a week. Anything below that makes Emperors Ring better choice.
Oh god, ya got a laugh out of me with the OC fanart goof, had to play it twice and got a laugh both times.
Q: Should I even begin?
I mean, you're asking someone who has spent well over 400 actual days of their life in the game world so I can't say I'm unbiased. But trying to be honest about it;
It's difficult to really commit time too since it requires so much investment in time and energy from the player, it doesn't respect your time like other games, even if the QoL makes it a lot better than it was.
ANOTHER potential dead spot where you wait on an email or get refused entry for a day???"
It just kept going, what an undertaking developing this thing must have been.
Are you still taking nee members in your link shell? I am also on Odin!
On s school night?
I am old,..........Was fresh out of HS when the XI PS2 hard-drive was released.
It was the ideal situation to play that mmo.
No homework, no studying, fresh off graduation....With a summer job, so some $$$ in my pocket.
Awesome guide video.
Instructions were too complicated, talked to Ken. Thumbs up.
Oh the Extracodes need a character created
I dream of this game updated with todays graphics. It literally would be the perfect MMO which would be the best MMO, at least thats my opinion. 😊
Bastok for the win!!
I am not doing a good job of not making long as fuck comments here, jeez lol.
your vid rocks and helped me a lot when i first started playing a few months ago, but after playing for a while, i think HorizonXI is the way to go nowadays....
i played on retail for a few months on bahamut and it was dead. a few players, but usually empty. i thought that's just how the game was supposed to be, but naw. one night on the free HorizonXI server, and there were people EVERYWHERE
until i get to the point where im wanting to do the expansions that HorizonsXI doesnt have, im sticking on HorizonXI, but 13 a month for a game with less players than a free alternative isnt worth it imo
Man, what were they thinking with this PlayOnline garbage? Somehow I have the accounts set-up properly but I can't login to my SE account through PlayOnline using the same password I use on the SE site and FFXIV with no problem...
Sorry, I know this is a while back, but Japan back in 2002 was still way behind in internet/online functionality compared to the western markets, the real question is why is it Still this hard to just play there game, making it to the 35 minute mark in this video is proof you really want to play this game.
san d'oria all the way!
Who else here is playing on an XI private server right now?
They need to make a legacy server. They would have many more subscribers if they did. Myself included.
@@r1pfake521 Don't play then. You don't have to gatekeep the fun an official release would bring to thousands of people all around the world.
