Disco never left, most popular dance music of today still has all its defining characteristics. Check out Kylie Minogues album Disco, if you want to be taken back in time.. Not a huge fan of the genre, but she did a really good job achieving that sound.
It was 1980 and my friend Alisha Hall brought a boom box to school for a class trip we were taking to the Bronx Zoo. We played a tape that she purchased or made off the record of this song and it was awesome. Today was the first time I heard it in 38 years and I loved it. We attended School #23 in Albany N.Y. I really miss the best times in America and the music played a big part of it. Thanks for the memory!
I was almost age 12 years old and lived in Albany ny as well it was frequently played on the radio at the time this song was so out there love it always makes me think what if the Dodgers never left Brooklyn?
Rod Serling is Binghamton's favorite son. If you dig Twilight Zone, definitely check out The Rod Serling Memorial Foundation. Yes, I've been a sometime member.
The DJ Has Been " Exemplary In " Enhancing What Was " Already " A Superb Track By Manhattan Transfer " And Has " Still Managed To " Convey The Unsettling Brilliance " Of The Twilight Zone " In His Own Unique Way " !!! From Adrian Browne 1965
*Rod Serling, if he were alive, would love this Twilight Zone tribute mix* But why in the heck do we have 30 haters on this cool mix? I just don't get it!
so that's how all of this DJ electronic disco dance rhythm remix has originated as from the beginning of time. and it's the best modern DJ disco remixed version of all times
DiscoCat, once again, you've managed to take a classic from back in the day and elevated it to new heights by your brilliant remixing skills. I especially love the way that your remixes aren't chopped up remixed beyond recognition, they're enhanced from the originals, and that is one of the things that annoy me about other DJ's who don't really listen to the original mix. Twilight Zone is one of my absolute favorites from the Manhattan Transfer, their harmonies are the stuff that legends are made of, again, thank you so much for sharing your gift of remixed hits with us...
Thx4share & memz djDC. Started playing this at all the Toronto clubs, then I met my better half at afterhours club "The Twilight" Zone, Toronto, in 1984 and worked there dj/lights/mgr. (84-'86), loved spinning vinyl at 4am-8am (Sun. morns). Those who follow you can relate to the '70's & '80's...Peace & ♥
While I'd heard the official 12" back then on the dance floor and comps since, this version has so much more going on, upfront, the guitar work a bit more prominence & the middle headspace travelling w/in the zone, breathe a freshness that is embrace worthy. always look fwd to hearing a familiar track given a lift w/the respect & reverance you give your choices. kudos once again, your creative spark has once again brought me to the dance floor!
Wow! Thanks for the great review! I really love this one and thought I could have some fun with it. It took me five years to pull this one together...(finally)
DJDiscoCatV2 believe me when I say, you deserve the acknowledgment, your passion and precision are ever present in your work, but never more than what I'd heard on this track. The time you devoted is testament to the dedication required to place and complete the fine strokes that likely are invisible to us, but really in the end this must shine as one of your finest efforts. To that I say, it was worth the wait. Hats off!
Manhattan transfer had some success in the United Kingdom in the late seventies they had a number one with chanson d'amour sung in entirely in French. I seen UK's TV reruns of top of the pops shows on BBC four.they usually do middle of the road material but this is a nice departure from the jazz music they did.twilight zone theme tune included nice touch.some brilliant samples. Had this played on the radio and the DJs did not say who was singing I would not know who it was?
Love The Manhattan Transfer! I saw them perform this live back in the day - superb performance and production values. I also love Trickle Trickle, and Shaker Song from the album.
I'm a female impersonator and I've done this song and Jacksonville Florida for a show it went over very well each and every time that was in the 80s thank you so much for your musical achievement Manhattan transfer what a group I would love to see you on concert sincerely yours Esteban Cantu
DJDiscoCat--this is great like all of your mixes. I love them all! Regarding this song, I do have a comment on the credit for the original Twilight Zone theme. The label is in error, crediting Bernard Herrmann, who did compose the theme for season 1. However, the theme we all remember (and Manhattan Transfer is using here) is from Marius Constant (seasons 2-5).
Nice job adding in bits of dialogue from the original show. In case someone wants to know which episodes they are, in order: 1. Time Enough at Last 2. To Serve Man 3. The After-Hours 4. Stopover in a Quiet Town
Mikey_Suze Four yep. That ‘s who ! “ New day for you “ “ “ Promises “I Loved her .....Anyway I love Manhattan Transfers specially that song. Bring back fun Souvenirs xoxo 😘
"The first part "Twilight Zone" utilized the hypnotic theme created by Bernard Herrmann and segued neatly into the new "Twilight Tone"" ---Didn't Marius Constant compose the theme used here????? Herrmann only composed the season 1 theme. Very big mistake printed right on the label.
and this electronic disco dancing jazz fusion female has a awesomely sexy strangest singing voice.and of course that narrator has a lot more sexy dancing body than Rod Sterling.

Boy I miss the 70s. It was so fun musically.
Oh wow. I LOVE the sound clips from the actual show.
