Stort grattis och mycket bra jobbat i både mot- och medgång! Ge aldrig upp och tro på sig själv är väldigt viktigt. Till slut så kommer man lyckas bara man kämpar. Åter igen, grattis!
Well done. Hope you have a fulfilling career as a nurse here in Sweden. Don’t know if you noticed but the world happiness report was recently released with Sweden ranking 3rd happiest place to live. Much accredited to our generous welfare system, one which you are now part of. So in a way you and everybody else working within the healthcare system are part of making people feel happy and safe. An incredibly meaningful and important way to live your life. Thank you for that. Happy Easter.
Congratulations👍 I remember a previous video where you didn't even know if you would be allowed to stay in Sweden. Great that it all worked out, we are very glad to have you here and we appreciate your contribution to the Swedish health care system. You will be a great nurse! Cheers from Stockholm!
As I mentioned in my previous comment, I have a similar situation to yours, albeit with a difference-I studied nursing here in Sweden, so I became Legitimerad without needing any additional exams after graduation. I guess you're currently working as an Undersköterska and likely soon to transition officially into nursing with your Legitimerad. You'll probably need to apply for a new work and residence permit based on this new position, and your current work permit will essentially become invalid. You'll receive a new two-year work residence permit. As you probably know, the minimum monthly salary required for someone applying for a work residence permit is currently 27,800 SEK, which you likely meet. However, the Swedish government has proposed increasing this requirement to the average salary in Sweden, which is currently 34,200 SEK, starting from June next year, 2025. It might sound odd, but there's a possibility this proposal could become law due to the majority the right-wing parties have. It hasn't been approved yet, but it's important to start considering this figure now for the salary you'll need as a nurse. Certainly, you don't need such a salary right now, but when you renew your residence permit in two years, this figure might have transformed. As someone who, like you, arrived in Sweden from a non-EU country and is almost the same age as you, working as a nurse here, Swedish regulations and bureaucracy can be the most frustrating aspect of our work, robbing us of peace of mind.
Really good information thanks. Yes the group at Region Skåne has basically said almost the same thing as well to me with the exception of the possible changes to income levels down the road. That’s really interesting. In my current role I definitely do not make 34,200. I wonder how that will affect other healthcare workers coming here doing the same process as me as they definitely pay us lower sometimes a lot lower. My first job as a USK was in home health and I only got 15000 a month before tax working 40 hours a week.
Hi Brandon! Congratulations on your achievement. I would like to ask you about the requirements to work as an assistant nurse while waiting for the Swedish license, since 'Assistant Nurse' became a protected title on July 1, 2023. Could you tell me what you had to do? It would be very helpful. Thanks.
It is a protected title now. That is correct. I submitted my education to an employer that I had applied to work as an USK (undersköterska). They sent it to Socialstyrelsen and got my education approved to work as an USK as my education was more comprehensive than USK education. I met an LVN from the USA who moved here and did the same and started as an USK.
@@becurious2000 Thanks for your answer! After I wrote this comment I read that you also need a certificate that states that you have at least B2 in Swedish to be able to work as USK. Did you have to do that? And congrats for your license! 🥳
Great work Brandon, I had no doubt you’d do great. Congratulations. Keep up the good work. See ya again when you come back home for a visit.
Thanks! Looking forward to it
