Great vid love this channel! Also for anyone looking to only make 1 liter at a time I contacted Trition and here’s the breakdown. Triton Bulk Mix 1L Amounts 236g Part 1 25ml Part 1 Liquid 504g Part 2 186g Part 3a 186g Part 3b
Yeah I was surprised it's not listed anywhere on the web. It took a couple back and forths with Triton but I finally got an answer from one of the chemists, great support by the way. Anyway you've given me so much knowledge, glad I could finally share something with you :)
With a small tank, you can mix 3A and 3B together in 1:1 ratios and dilute 1 and 2 with 1:1 RO water so you've got 3 solutions, not four, and save yourself a dosing head! You have to double the dose rate but with a small tank it's no big deal (probably more accurate for the dosing pump really).
A mate of mine is using DSR method. He hasn't changed water in 5 years and he has no issues whatsoever apart from slightly raised Phosphates which don't cause any problems. I might go with it and avoid water changes altogether.
There are a lot of different products on the market. I use the ATI-Essentiels, this is a little bit more easy to mix. They also provide a two part solution. Did you use and test the different products and recognized serious differences? Anyway, actually it is NaHCO3, CaCl, MgCl (Balling) and trace elements. Sure, the recipes may differ a little bit and triton have 2 parts of carbon sources...But in the End they are more or less the same?!
ATI isn’t really available to us so I’ve never used it. I’m sure it’s good too. I’ve used lots of brands of sups but I’ve never seen a more obvious improvements than when I switch a tank to Triton. Cam
Yes, that’s why it’s called Core7. At time of its development, it was 7 x more concentrated than any other alkalinity product without forming a precipitate.
ViciouslyMoist the main reason there’s a difference is that macro algae requires an extra set of elements. So I would think it’s best to use the one for the refugium if you are growing macro algae in the scrubber
How strange. I’ve never had Core7 with hard chunks and I’ve never seen the separate small bottle with trace elements. Mine always comes just as four containers and it’s super fine powder. Also my calcium doesn’t come in a bag. Wonder if it’s a different supply? I’m in the UK. I do still have to mix 1 and 2 (although different to this), but 3a and 3b are premixed and do not need RO. It must be a regional thing. I’ll drop Julian an email and ask him why he thinks it’s different.
Christian Biggins how big is big? We are saving so much money! Cam’s Display went from adding 1200ml per day from the last pre mix brand to 20 ml per day (now on 40 since chemical equilibrium achieved and growth has been accelerated) (!!!)
Found triton to be great for dosing but didn't find the ICP testing in the UK reliable, shame as triton itself is a great dosing method. Love your channel mate
Hey my favorite fish guy 😀. You said that mixing magnesium with water makes solutions hot. That's proof that isn't magnesium. That's calcium chloride. This compound mixing with water makes solutions hot. Calcium chloride has such a chemical property not magnesium. Regards from Poland mate!
There are lots of systems that work well. Triton is about balance in your reef tank, both chemically and ecologically. If you’re someone who enjoys the process of doing a waterchange and using a calcium reactor that’s great, but just because that works for you doesn’t mean other systems are crap. The triton method is the easiest and most successful system I’ve seen in 20 years of reefing, so it’s my go-to system to get the results my clients expect. Cam
@@GalleryAquaticaTV so what I ment to say without the c word and lazy is this method for people who are on a bugit don't have the space for a calc reactor or the open wallet for 20% water changes
It has saved us from dosing 1.2L per day to 20ml per day (now at 40 as growth has accelerated once we reached equilibrium balance 👍) in our 1000 litre reef display. Not to mention the visible improvement in coral health, colour and growth. Well worth changing over to👌
I got the parts mixed up on film😩 Part 1 is magnesium, Part 2 is calcium. Sorry guys! Cam
Well look even Cam the fish guy makes mistakes sometimes. This seems like more of a Ania topic kind of video.
Great vid love this channel! Also for anyone looking to only make 1 liter at a time I contacted Trition and here’s the breakdown.
Triton Bulk Mix 1L Amounts
236g Part 1
25ml Part 1 Liquid
504g Part 2
186g Part 3a
186g Part 3b
Thanks, this will be great to refer to, we get asked this question quite often. Cam

Yep, that's what I do
Had such a kak day at work, this came at the right time to brighten my mood... as always!
What does kak mean? Im in Nebraska US
...im sheltered lol
@@MrBestshot33 He had a shit day at work, kak is an afrikaans word
Merci pour ta vidéo mon ami et belle été à toi et tes équipes !!! 👍👍👍
Hi Cam! It's really good to see you & I really enjoyed your video! 😀👍👍
Thank you Paul, and thank you so much for watching!
Hey Cam! Its Cam the other fish guy here from down south in Vic. Great Videos mate, keep up the great work!!
Thanks Cam! Cam
Thanks!
Great video as always, thanks guys!
Thanks for watching Josh😊 Cam

True. I wanted to talk about this but couldn’t find the words to easily explain. Cam

Thx for actually mixing one at a time in a real time scenario… do you do live shows??
We haven’t yet but are considering it. Cam
Can you make a video explain how to use it after the preparation
Yes I think we are due for another Triton video. Cam
Thanks for the video Cam . Is it the calcium that gets hot? 🐟🐟🐟🐟
Yes, I got the first 2 parts mixed up😩

Triton core 7 is reputed to be 7 x stronger than any other alkalinity supp on the market
@@aniafish 7x stronger? Not sure how that works out, but sure why not! 7x strong per dollar spent? yeaaaaah maybe not, Triton is by no means cheap.
Each litre has 9750dKH/litre and no organic carbon. Strongest alkalinity supplement on the market
Yes, that’s why it’s called Core7.
At time of its development, it was 7 x more concentrated than any other alkalinity product without forming a precipitate.
Could you use this on a 13.5 gal fluval sea Evo?
Matt Hall sure thing. Just dilute it back further with RODI
Have you ever used the coral essentials black label on your display tank?
Yes, it’s excellent.
Can you do a follow-up on how to apply and hook it up to an aquarium?
Yes, we have an episode coming up in which we set it up on one of our favourite tanks. Cam
Sorry for the late comment but what about tanks running a algae scrubber? Would I go with other methods?
ViciouslyMoist the main reason there’s a difference is that macro algae requires an extra set of elements. So I would think it’s best to use the one for the refugium if you are growing macro algae in the scrubber
AWESOME !! video. Thanks
Thanks for watching Lisa😊
3A and 3B are actually exactly the same. I was surprised when I found out, apparently they didn’t used to be but they are now.
Good to know, cheers. Cam
👍

I'd love to give this a crack but it's super expensive on a big tank. Thanks for the video Cam and team.

I got the parts around the wrong way😩
If people don't know how to do this without watching a video, they do not need to be touching any reef tank that would require this method.
2024, are people still doing this Triton method? New reefer here.
Absolutely 👍
You diddnt show how to use it
Damn... we’ll be showing how we use it on some tanks soon. Cam
Click bait title hey?
Haha, no. We originally filmed my display tank and showed how we set it up on that, but the scene never made the cut and we didn’t change the title.
Very difficult to prepare, Triton isn't the best option for that reason.
No, that was the whole point! It’s extremely EASY to prepare! Cam
Brutal recipe!! haahahha
I just use arm extra coarse and a tmc 1500 calc reactor and weekly water changes 20% wats all this Triton crap is it for lazy reef keepers 😭😭😭😭
