Jerry Orbach. He played one of the greatest tv detectives of all time for 12 seasons on Law & Order. Lenny Brisco left the 27th prescient for part time work with the DAs office. He was in two episodes of Trial by Jury before dying of cancer.
Night Court in the 80s had two co-stars who died from cancer and they knew they had while filming. Selma Diamond and Florance Halop. Hill Street Blues had MIchael Conrad
And no one should forget Robin Williams. He was pretty sick when he made "The Crazy Ones" with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Hamish Linkater. and he would take his own life in response to his illness after the season 1 premiere ended, which killed the show.
Madeline Kahn died while filming the series Cosby. They dedicated a whole episode to her in season 4 after her passing, where the rest of the cast sat around and talked about what it was like to work with her, as well as showing “best of Madeline” clips from previous episodes.
Michelle Thomas on Family Matters. She was battling cancer that whole last season. She kind of knew she wasn't gonna make it. It was a good thing the show ended that season because it gave her a chance to finish the show knowing she was very ill and she would sadly pass away a few months after the last episode.
Zara Cully who played “Mother Jefferson” on The Jeffersons worked on the show until her death. You could see she was ill during her last episode on the show. She hung in there like the trooper she was.
I don't know if she's in the above clip, but Diana Hyland, who played Tom Bradford's (Dick Van Patten's) 1st wife on "Eight is Enough" died of cancer during the show's first season. She died in 1977 at age 41.
Charlie Murphy Black Jesus (2014-2019) The Chappelle's Show (2003-2006) Actor was battling Lukiemia for the latter half of his life while being Involved with Projects like The Boondocks (2005-2014) his last role was In Starz Crime Epic Series Power (2016-2021) he died of the deadly Disease In 2018 RIP
Robert Urich, probably best known for starring on VEGA$, later had a supporting role on the sitcom Emeril (does anyone remember when network TV gave Emeril Legasse the chance to act?), even though he'd been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that ultimately killed him.
I’m surprised no one mentioned John Ritter in the comments. He experienced chest pains, severe nausea, and vomiting while rehearsing lines on the set of 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter. Ritter died that evening on 9-11-03.
@@lisab7977maybe or maybe not. According to his wife he was misdiagnosed in 2001. He was referred to a cardiologist but didn’t see one. Ritter passed 2yrs later from an aortic dissection
@HopeGardner3amed True, but he finished What If shortly before he died. It was one of the last things he worked on and they originally planned to bring him back for Season 2.
I had a big crush on Larry Hagman as a child, way before Dallas. I remember the storyline working his demise into it, and I sensed it was from real life. Then I wept. RIP. 😰😰😰
Annie Wersching filmed season 2 of Star Trek: Picard and her recurring role in The Rookie while dying of pancreatic cancer in 2022 (she died Jan 2023). Three months before she died aged only 45 her Rookie character, the serial killer Rosalind Doyle, was killed by an unknown sniper. It would be her last onscreen appearance.
Kathryn Joosten was also known as Mrs Landingham in The West Wing. Her death in the series led to one of the greatest monologues ever by Martin Sheen's President Bartlett.
No love for the late, much-missed Bill Bixby, star of The Incredible Hulk, The Magician, and so much else. He continued to direct Blossom from a bed that was brought to the set so he could keep going. He died six days after filming his final episode from prostate cancer. He was 59.
The two stars of BBC's comedy series Last of the summer wine, Bill Owen and Peter Salis (better known as the voice of Wallace in Wallace and Gromit films). Bill owen died two episodes into the season, and Compo's death and funeral were writen into the show. They are both buried in Holmfirth, the small English village where they filmed the series, next to each other.
Sidney Clute from Cagney & Lacey died during the taping of the series. He was so loved that his name continued to appear as a cast member even after his passing. I miss Barbara Bel Geddes (Miss Ellie) on Dallas, Robert Urich from Vega$ and Spencer for Hire, Will Geer & Ellen Corby (Grandma and Grandpa on The Waltons) and Sada Thompson from Family. Unfortunately, as we grow older, so many in the entertainment industry who brought us smiles, laughter, and tears have passed on, for they had illnesses that took them too soon or they simply grew older too. I miss the TV shows of the 1970's and 1980's.
Bea Benaderet was filming petticoat junction while sick with lung cancer and ultimately passing away during production of the 5th season I believe could be the 4th.
If anyone has ever watched the movie Poltergeist 2, the man who plays Cain or Kane (not sure of the exact spelling) who comes knocking at the door wanting to speak to the Dad then starts cursing him when he refuses to let him in is an individual who was incredibly unwell during the making of the film and actually died not long after the movie was completed. To look at him, in the movie you would have said that he already looked as if he was at deaths door.
In the last 2 seasons of rugrsts and all grown up christine cavanuagh was battling chronic myloid lukemia since 2000 retired in 2001 (contributions came out in 2003) died In 2014 from the illness
@mandy3486 i do to. My mind is racing. I had thyroid cancer in 2017. Had to remove my thyroid but caught early stage 1. Remove 57 lymphnodes only one had cancer

Are you a child? Not everyone is lucky to have their loved ones surrounding them while they're on their deathbed. Also, people die in their sleep/die suddenly which doesn't allow them to see the faces of their loved ones for one last time. Maybe he didn't want that and it's okay!
Nancy Marchand's last "performance" was ridiculous. The worst CGI ever and trying to match her lines with the conversations going on; I think she would be humiliated by this. Of course if she was, then she would be alive and it would all be unnecessary.

This kind of glosses over the fact that when Rock Hudson's AIDS diagnosis was made public there was a tremendous controversy over the fact that he did not tell anyone on _"Dynasty"_ including co-star Linda Evans, that he was sick with the disease! I remember my mother and eldest sister discussing his weight loss while he was on the show. Asner said that he was aware of scripts being rewritten to eliminate kissing scenes. Bill Owen, as Compo in the British comedy Last of the Summer Wine! His son Tom Owen went into the show as Compo's son.
Jerry Orbach. He played one of the greatest tv detectives of all time for 12 seasons on Law & Order. Lenny Brisco left the 27th prescient for part time work with the DAs office. He was in two episodes of Trial by Jury before dying of cancer.
Yep. He was the first actor I thought of when I saw the title of this video...
He was also Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast animated movie

Don't forget Jack Soo from Barney Miller. Had cancer but still worked til his passing.
Ted Knight was fighting cancer while making Too Close for Comfort, which ended abruptly. In fact, he was dealing with it while filming Caddyshack.😊
Don't Forget Andy Whitfield of Spartacus, he fought hard to fight cancer and before he passed, he allowed the creators to recast his role
And no one should forget Robin Williams. He was pretty sick when he made "The Crazy Ones" with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Hamish Linkater. and he would take his own life in response to his illness after the season 1 premiere ended, which killed the show.

And so young, too. She was a beautiful young woman.
That's not necessarily true. She worked on other shows after FM and she never thought she wouldn't make it, what are you talking about?
Actually she was starring on The Young And The Restless when she was dying and the show had to recast her role.
Phil Hartman. He was one of my favorite actors and the way he died was so horrible. I miss him alot.
Phil Hartman didn’t know he was gonna die. He was shot.
Yeah, I don't think the tragic murder of Phil Hartman belongs on this list because he wasn't sick. He was MURDERED.
Phil Hartman should be a domestic violence awareness of men getting abused by their wives..
He didn't know he was going to die..
